Dog now allowed... how to deal with allergies

I’m ok with hotels allowing dogs at their rooms, as long as they are either setting a number of rooms for it or doing a deep cleaning after the dog checkout. I from now on will be requesting a deep clean for allergies on Disney resorts, it might sound silly but my child is severely allergic to dog hair, and other stuff like dust mite that are obviously everywhere, but Dog hair is a big trigger for his allergies. Have anyone have a bad experience on these rooms?

I wouldn’t risk it by staying in one of the resorts that has dogs. Also, you may want to ask for a deep clean anyway because most of the resorts have fake service dogs in them anyway.

All resorts could have dogs because service dogs could be in any resort.

I’m sure true service dogs have stayed at all of the resorts at one point or another.

Exactly. With severe allergies this is something a family should have always requested.

And at least with the pet-dog-allowed resorts they know the dog has been there since there’s a fee.

There are dogs everywhere, so make sure you tell them about the allergy. There are bed bug beagles, K-9 police dogs, etc.

And most of them have had real service dogs in them. No need to be nasty.
I apologize if I came across as nasty. I realize that a Disney has very little control in that area. I was trying to point out that all the rooms could have had dogs. My sister in law is blind and uses a service dog. Her life is made more challenging by the increasing number of false service animals. Her dog was attacked by one and he still kept his focus on her.

I know service dogs have always been allowed, but let’s be honest, legitimate service dogs are not as common as “emotional” support dogs are nowadays, and now any pet dog will be allowed on the room and I’m assuming will stay in the room while their humans are in the park. Before my child allergies where confirmed we did sometimes get him sick without apparent cause, from respiratory issues to hives. Now that it’s been confirmed I will ask for the deep cleaning.

Not all service dogs are as intensely trained as a seein eye dog. It could have been a true service dog that simply hasn’t been trained from puppyhood.

As far as I can tell, emotional support dogs are not actually allowed inside of Disney parks and would need to be marked down as pets.

So if I see a dog in the park I assume it’s a service dog.

The point is that canines have been in the rooms this whole time. I’m glad you’ll finally be getting the deep cleaning.

If you're looking for experiences you should check out https://www.disboards.com/threads/experiences-at-dog-friendly-disney-resorts.3643324/

If you're looking for more information on the policies you should check out https://www.disboards.com/threads/h...-disneys-policies-on-dogs-at-resorts.3641677/

The other dog threads all got closed by mods or admins. They also created sticky thread for the new security check policy and closed majority of other threads about the topic. I think they are being more careful about new policies and discussion related to those.

I would phone and have it on your room request as you’ve done with deep clean, and make sure they know about dog allergy. From what I’ve read, it sounds like they only allow dogs in certain rooms or buildings that are near the doggy areas.
As mentioned, Disney has always had dogs in the resorts, but in the past it was only service dogs. I think you’ll find there really aren’t many dogs around. Most people don’t travel/fly with their dogs.

I’m not sure if you really need to ask for a deep clean. I would choose a resort that does not allow pet dogs and ask them to make a note that your DD is allergic to dogs. I assume that Disney specifically cleans rooms that are used by service dogs. Does anyone know?

By default, they do not. In order for it to happen the following as to occur. The guest with the service dog makes it known to housekeeping that they have a service dog in the room. Housekeeping has to remember to let their supervisor know. Supervisor has to remember to add a deep cleaning to the work order for that room. At least with the current non service dog trial, you must register your dog (and pay a fee), so that automatically triggers a deep cleaning work order for when that guest checks out.

I've seen varying statements about this, so I'm curious as to what the actual RULE is: Are (non service) dogs permitted in eating areas at the resorts? I saw at least one picture of a dog eating off of a table, but I've also read that Disney now prohibits pets in the eating areas. There was a recent post in the "experiences" thread about a dog seen exiting the cafeteria at POR, so if the rule exists then perhaps enforcement isn't working.

My impression is that the prohibition rule exists but is not well-enforced.

I definitely saw one at EPCOT this weekend - at least that’s what its vest said. (It was attempting to sniff every leaf on the ground as its owner drug it along.) Of course, I have no way of knowing what conversation happened at the gate.

The reason so many of the other threads on this topic were closed is that they turned into arguments over emotional support animals. And we're heading back that way again with this thread.

The OP asked about allergy cleanings after the possible presence of dogs in the rooms. Whether those dogs were pets, support animals, or service dogs is not relevant to the question and of little use to those planning trips with similar concerns. Let's stick to the topic, please.
