How much do most people pay on average for dog grooming? I am getting a new puppy and the cost of getting them both groomed at my current groomer's is going to be :scared1:

Plus those with more than one dog that needs to be groomed does your groomer give discounts for that?

ETA: What kind of dogs do you have, both of mine are small, Bogart weighs 20 lbs and the new one probably won't weigh over 10 as an adult.

One ~60 lb. dog. Mobile groomer who comes to the house (well, driveway) and does it. $65 for the grooming and a $5 tip. I think the $65 is high for a Golden Retriever as she doesn't need much done becuase we clip her nails and keep an eye on her ears. It's the convenience of not having to go there and back and there and back that I like. Plus, in the DC area, it's just about the market price anywhere.

We have an awesome Muddy Paws wash near us- right outside a big public park with a dog pen and dog beach. We go there frequently. It's a self-serve or full-serve deal. You can use everything they have from the tubs and shampoos (that come out of the hose!) to the perfumes, ear wipes, and nail clippers. We find taking her there is a lot easier and faster than doing it in the tub. Might be a consideration with another puppy to keep them clean and hygeinic without having to pay grooming prices. I know several people take their dogs there and follow the groomer's lines to keep the dog clipped in :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Again, it's based on weight and self service is ~$17 and fill serve is ~$22. We always gets her a box of the expensive gourmet treats, too. Something about those little icecream cone dog treats that's so cute! And she loooooves them- jumps up and looks into the case everytime we walk in the door. :rotfl:

We have a Lhasa Apso and it costs $30 to get him groomed. The groomer does an amazing job and our dog loves her.

Our cousins take their dogs (they have 3 30-60lbs) there also. They get a discount for bringing in multiple dogs. I think they pay $110 for all 3. Larger dogs range from $45-60 in this place. So it's a nice discount.

I think I pay $35 or so. Not sure since we only get her groomed when we take her to the kennel for boarding and it's included in the total. That includes a bath, nail trim, cut/trim and dry.

It costs us $30 for Jules- bath, dry, ears, trims nails, brush. She's about 70 lbs. The lady we take her to is sooo reasonable and nice.

Wow! that's a really good price.

Yep- we tip 5 dollars, and it is worth 35 not to have to wrestle Jules into the bathtub on our own sometimes.

PLUS- she always makes her smell soo good. When I give Jules a bath, she still smells like.... wet dog.

I've always groomed our Yorkie's hair myself. When she was a puppy, I started out just trimming her bangs - not to save money or anything. But I continued cutting her hair and basically taught myself how to trim and groom her hair in a short cut. She is now 13!

We have a Black Pom... ie: LOTS of hair.
We pay $35.00 for bath, brush & nails. And $45.00 for a full puppy cut, which we do once a year so he can survive the hot weather.

I paid $42 plus tip recently for my German Shepherd. They did a nice job. paw:

$48 for a full groom - puppy cut, ears, nails, bath, blowdry, cologne, facial hair, paws trimmed, etc. It's a locally own boutique groomer.

Plus I tip 15-20%.

I figure I pay about that for my haircut with shampoo and style I have much less hair!

I wonder if I could learn to do that with the little one. She is a yorkie poodle mix, I guess it would depend on the dog.

I pay 50 dollars per dog at our current groomer. The cocker spaniel is a lot of work and has been "banned" (or called to please pick her up...mid haircut) from several establishments after a bad puppy haircut at Pet Smart. They do a great job and I would gladly pay much more if asked.

The American Bull Dog needs a bath and nails cut and he is 50 dollars too. He just sits there and is the easiest going dog in the world. The way I look at it, they balance each other out price wise. :dog2: :dog:

I pay $40 or $45 for Tucker depending on how much hair comes off of him... he's a Norwegian Elkhound (very hairy breed). I have him groomed at least every other month and I give Jamie a $10 tip. He looks great when he comes home!!!

Petey is an 8# toy poodle. He runs me about $35 every 4 to 6 weeks for a basic bath and simple cut. If I want his toofies brushed that's an extra $10. Add to that the tip and it's $40 to $50 each time.

Yes, she is very good about it. I started cutting her bangs when she was just a little puppy. So, I guess she knew the routine from an early start.

But, It is dh's job to brush her teeth! :teeth:

I have a llasa-poo, she is about 15lbs. It costs me $32.40 to have her groomed every 6 weeks. :)
