My son wants to make dog cookies (Or any kind of baked goods) for his cousin's (yes a dog) birthday. I am looking for recipes that are inexpensive to make and also easy to make. Does anyone make dog cookies or biscuits for their dogs. He mentioned he wanted to use peanut butter.

Yes! I have one...we make these for a local private animal rescue...makes a lot of cookies.

2 cups Whole Wheat flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup milk
1 tsp. bacon grease (optional)

Combine all ingredients and roll out on well floured surface. Cut out with cookie cutter. Bake 375 degrees for 20 mins.

1/4 cup of peanut butter
1 tblsp veg oil
1 cup of water
2 1/4 cups whole wheat flower
1 cup of oatmeal

Mix Peanut butter,oil,water
Then flour and oatmeal
Roll out put on ungreased cookie sheet
Oven@ 375
Time 35 min.

My dog loves them.

always wanted to make treats for my furbaby!!! I guess I'll do it this weekend! Thanks for the recipes.

Here's the peanut butter cookie recipe for cut out cookies. This is the easiest dough on the planet:

3 c flour
1 c water
2 tbsp oil
1/2 c peanut butter

Roll to 1/4" thickness & bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, which will make them a soft cookie. If you want a harder crunch to them, flip them over & cook for another 15 minutes.

Pumpkin biscotti:

4 c flour (may need to add more near the end, just use your judgement to firm the dough)
1 can pumpkin (15, 16 oz)
1 tbsp oil
1 egg
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda

This can be too sticky when you're done, so that's why I just add a little more flour at a time, especially if you want to make cookies. If you're just going to make the biscotti, then you shouldn't need to add any more. Usually I roll these into a roll, bake at 350 for 40 minutes, then slice the roll into 1/2 inch thick slices & I bake them on each side for an hour on 300 degrees. This makes them super hard & crunchy & my dog loves them!

This is a recipe that could be used with Salmon or tuna. One of our local humane societies has this on their webpage for donations:

Salmon Training Treats
• 14 oz. can of Salmon – do not drain (2 6-oz cans of Tuna can be used instead)
• 1 ½ cups of flour
• 1 tbs garlic powder or minced garlic
• 2 eggs
• 1/3 cup of grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Process tuna, garlic and eggs in food processor or blender (or just mix in bowl).
Add flour and mix to a brownie-like consistency. Spread to a ¼ inch thickness on a greased cookie sheet. Mixture will
only cover ¾ of the sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes.
When cool cut into small sized (1/4 inch x 1/4 inch) training treats (pizza cutter works great). Portion into a gallon
sized bag and freeze what won’t be used right away.

These could be cut larger than indicated. The size the HS uses is for training.

Wow, I didn't think anyone would respond to this. Thanks for the recipes. My son is going to be so happy.

My DD's Girl Scout troop made dog biscuits with a recipe similar to the ones posted minus the peanut butter, since we have a peanut allergy. But they are easy to do and came out great...

Just an FYI, we did cat treats with the tuna and just a heads up that when they are baked, they stink to high heaven, so if you choose the tuna or other fish, light some candles and be prepared to air out! :goodvibes

Here is the recipe for the Birthday Cake I make for my dogs:

Peanut Butter Carrot Birthday Cake

Naturally sweet, colorful and flavorful, this dog birthday cake is simple and easy to make. Great for Fall.

•1 cup whole wheat flour

•1tsp baking soda

•1/4 cup peanut butter

•1/4 cup vegetable oil

•1 cup shredded carrots

•1 tsp. vanilla

•1/3 cup honey

•1 egg

Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8" round cake pan and bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Let cool.

Puree cottage cheese in blender for icing. Decorate with more peanut butter and carrots

I have also used natural yogurt for the icing instead of cottage cheese.

My dogs love it!!!

I make my own dog food as well and I have a bunch of recipes for more treats if anyone is interested.

Thanks a bunch, folks.
We have been meaning to do this for our sweety:)

The cake will be awesome, as our chihuahua is a real carrot fiend.:thumbsup2
