Doesn't everybody have Disney on speed dial? Seriously? Mickeystoontown does! 5/14

You know you can count me in!! :)

I smiled through the whole intro, you are SOOOO funny! I so hope we can do a DIS meet one day!

Can't wait to read all the plans!

Hey Ya'll! I'll come back with individual replies in a bit. Before I do, I know that there are some that are traveling the same dates that we are and I wanted to give ya'll a heads up just in case anybody is looking for a dinner ADR at Be Our Guest. We've decided to forego dinner at Be Our Guest and have lunch there. Anybody need a dinner ADR at 8:35 p.m. on May 30th for 3 people? I posted this on our May Facebook page and on the May ADR cancellation thread and can't believe that nobody wants it. I'm willing to coordinate times in the hope that a fellow Diser can grab it up. If I don't hear from anybody, I'll be canceling it shortly.

I'm in! Love ya'll!

Welcome Michelle! Luv you all too!

I'm here; I'll be back to read later...I just wanted to save my spot.

***Back.

I love your intros and I love your family. I can't wait to read your daily plans to see what parks we might overlap at.

Hello Kathy and Welcome! I'm hoping to get dates posted soon.

I'm here!!

Hey Sheree! Good to see you!

Well it certainly didn't take you long to get this started. Can't wait to hear your plans

Judy is here! Let's get this party started!

One of these days we'll be in WDW at the same time. :goodvibes

You are such a fun family, I sure hope to be involved with some of that fun one of these trips. :thumbsup2

Welcome Camille! One day our paths will cross, I just know it!

Ooooh, ooh, oooh, I made it to page one of a Mickeystoontown report!!!!! :cool1:

Going back to read now...

Ya'll are so much fun! party: BFF and I are talking about taking a weekend trip down to stay with my mom and dad and visit Duck and Dressing this summer. If we get it worked out I would love to try to have a Dismeet with you if you are around that weekend! :thumbsup2

You get to go To Disney for two weeks?! That is awesome!!! pixiedust:

Page 1 Woot! Woot!:yay: Oh heck yeah, if ya'll come to Duck and Dressing, let me know. That's close to my work!

Count me in! I've been away from the DIS for a while, as we just had a new addition to the Curiouser family! Bouncing Baby Boy #2! (Yeah, we were actually told we were having a girl- was looking forward to buying some of your dresses! Guess that's not going to happen!)
I've read most of your other Trip Reports (not sure if I can claim that I've read them all), but I don't comment much. I'll try to change that this time around!

Sorry that Lacey and Jesse won't be making it this year! I'll keep my fingers crossed for some stroke of luck that changes that! You just never know!

Welcome back to the Dis and to my pre-trip report! Oh my goodness, a new addition! I'm betting that he'll grow up to be a Disney lovin' boy just like my Hunter.

I'm here!!!!! Reading along...:wave2:

Welcome!

Is Momma not going either? :(

Nope, Mama said that she's Disney'd out. ;)

I have to be really honest with you and say that I haven't noticed a single thing unusual about your face lol You are beautiful and you really need not worry people are thinking anything less when you look at ya ;)

Thank you! I guess that I'm just self conscious about my face. Like the dancing and jumping pics that I take don't make me self conscious. :p

LMAO :rotfl: You crack me up!

Did Lacey get a new puppy? It's adorable! I need another puppy! :lovestruc:

Yep, that's little Miss Zoey! I tried to get her to name her Slanky Dog but she said that it didn't sound girly enough.

TWO glorious weeks in Disney???? I'm uber excited for you! :hyper:

I am sooooo ready to get to Disney!

Welcome! Glad to have you following along!

Well, okay then, let's go! Looking forward to finding out the later iteration of your plans and watching you make more changes! :rotfl2: Since I am not going this year I have to live through you and your family. :thumbsup2

Welcome! You know me sooooo well. I just looked at the 2014 Disney vacation folder in my email. The number of changes is ridiculous! :crazy2:

Love the twisted humor with the hotdog and ketchup! :rotfl2:
Hunter and his booty pictures! Dang the boy just cant seem to help himself.
Adorable Lion King picture, Simba looks a little different than I remember though.:simba:
Hate it that Lacey and Jesse have to be grownups though and can't go with you this trip.

Not sure if you ever do it but if your up for a Dis meet while your down hollar at me!!

I was wondering which one was Lisa and which was John. :rotfl2:

Hey Scott! Yeah, I'm glad that I clarified who was who.

Hi there fellow "May'er"! Can't wait to read about your plans!

Welcome aboard!

I'm in again!! Have to live vicariously through others this year. DD is taking a 3 week summer ballet intensive and that took all my Disney money. :faint: So the plan for my next visit looks like a Mom's only end of Oct/beginning Nov 2015. Hoping for a Halloween party, a Christmas party, and some Food & Wine all in one!

Hey! Boo for no Disney money but I know that the sacrifice is well worth it. That gorgeous dancer daughter of your's is definitely worth it.

I'm in as well...just finished reading your last TR...loved it!

Welcome! I need to get back over to the trip report and post replies.

Can't wait to read the plans!

So happy that you're here! Plans will be posted soon!

I'm in! We are going back to Disneyland in June (spent 2 days there over spring break) but it'll be years before we get back to WDW. I like to read your reports to tide me over in the meantime. :)

Welcome to my trip report! I've pondered a trip to Disneyland but I want to make it a road trip.

That's okay! I'll welcome you twice!

Hi Lisa:wave2:
Following along... Counting the days until my own trip. 5/21-5/28 :cool1:

Haven't read yet but had to say, Yes, Yes I do have Disney on speed dial! :rotfl:
Now back to read.
Oh and I bought our plane tickets for our October trip! :hyper: It's official, October 15th - 22nd. :thumbsup2 Once the plane tickets are purchased it's on. It just doesn't feel real to me until then.

Hey! Glad that I'm not the only one with Disney on speed dial!

Yay for buying the plane tickets! Like you said, it makes the trip seem more real.

Following! Love the family Christmas photos!

Welcome aboard! Our Christmas pictures always have silly ones thrown in!

Joining in!!

Hey Mary! Welcome! I'm hoping that we'll get to meet up again when we are there.

Hi! I'm here for this one too!:wave2:
Just finished the last one, thanks so much for writing these trip reports. Not going again until May of 2015.....le sigh.

KIM

Welcome Kim! Think of it this way.....you have plenty of time to plan out every single detail and then, like me, change it all up again. :p

Hi! I just finished your last TR and am ready to read all about your plans for this year's trip.

Welcome! I'm happy to see returning readers!

I'm in. Sounds like this is going to be a fun one!

Annnnnnnnd, since there doesn't seem to be any takers, I'm canceling at 2:30 (Luziannner time...that's Louisiana time for those who don't speak my language )

How this trip went from 12 days to 2 weeks and on Disney’s nickel!

Welcome to all of my pre-trip report readers! :welcome: I hope that you’ll continue to say “Hey” and post your thoughts and comments. Don’t be shy! How else are we going to become friends? ;)

Those who know me know that I’m chatty and my posts can become quite wordy. If you don’t already know me, then I just told you that I’m chatty and my posts can become quite wordy. (See, I’m already doing it. :rotfl:) Anyway, this post is going to be mostly wordy. Don’t even know if it’s going to have any pictures. I’ll see if I can scrounge something up on Photobucket or Google Images to toss in after a little bit.

Waaaaay back in May, 1998, we took our first family trip to Walt Disney World. Hunter was 1, Lacey was 11 and I was, apparently, too dumb to realize just how big of a place WDW really was so I didn’t do much in the way of research. :sad2: We stayed offsite and we visited two Disney parks as well as Universal and Sea World. As the old sayin’ goes, “We drank the Disney Kool-Aid” and we were immediately hooked. :drinking1

Over the last sixteen years, we have been to Walt Disney World nineteen times, been on a Disney cruise, visited Universal twice, Sea World three times, Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach once. Man, on man, what that Florida sunshine and clean air can do to a family. :teeth:

After the first four or five trips, we decided to “splurge” and stay onsite and there was no looking back. The only way that I’d stay offsite again is if we couldn’t afford to go otherwise. Even though we drive and have a car at our disposal, we like letting Disney do the driving for us. I don’t have to pay outta my rear end to park. I don’t have to remember where we parked. I don’t have to elbow the person next to me who is trying to get my spot on the parking lot tram. Easier to just jump on a bus and ride, baby, ride. That “perk” right there is enough to keep us onsite. :thumbsup2

Our trips have also grown longer and longer. Our first trip was five days, next was six days, and so on until they made it all the way to twelve days which is what it’s been for some time now. This next trip will be the longest yet and it's all because of Disney. What do I mean? :confused3 Well, the title of this post is “How this trip went from 12 days to 2 weeks and on Disney’s nickel!” Notice that last part? “..on Disney’s nickel!”. Betcha you don’t hear that phrase every day. Want to hear how that came about? Sure you do!

First off, I’m going to make this statement:

Last trip, we stayed at two moderate resorts, Port Orleans French Quarter and Caribbean Beach. In my previous trip report, I didn’t make any comments on something that occurred during the stays because it was an isolated incident and did not, in any way, have anything to do with the resort itself nor would it have likely had any effect on any other guest(s). The situation was handled in a very straightforward way and directly by Guest Relations and a resort manager. I am confident that everything was taken care of and it won’t happen again. It was my choice not to say anything about it. I wasn’t asked or told not to by Disney in any way, shape, form or fashion.

Okay, got that bunch of almost legal mumbo jumbo out of the way so on with the story.

We were walking around the resort looking at the scenery and enjoying being back at Walt Disney World when we realized that we needed something from our room. When we opened the door, we walked in on two mousekeepers “cleaning” two rooms. However, they weren’t cleaning by any means. They were lying on the beds, watching television, snacking, and yelling to one another from room to room. Not only were we surprised but the mousekeepers were surprised too and one of them immediately jumped up from the bed and said something to the other mousekeeper who let out a small cry. They both started apologizing and said that they were just taking a break and our mouskeeper said that she would be finished with our room in a few minutes.

Now, I know from the intros that you can see that we are a bunch of joking kind of folks. So, needless to say, once the initial shocked reaction wore off, the giggling fits set in. :p We were over by the sink holding in the laughter when our mousekeeper said something like “Finished, have a good day.” Once she was gone, the giggles came out. We were talking about the look on their faces, how they hopped up so quickly, etc. We got what we came back to the room for and left.

Then, in the food court, we encountered a castmember who wasn’t in the best of moods and was not very good at hiding it. She told my mother one thing but then did another. It flustered Mama and she came away thinking that maybe she (my Mama) had misunderstood or done something wrong. Ya’ll my Mama is 80 years old (79 on the trip) and she’s almost paranoid about losing her memory or getting Alzheimers. I crap you not! She’s a worry wart and it’s all that I can do to keep her on an even keel. :sad2: To say that I got my panties in a bunch over the castmember is a little bit of an understatement and while my Mama wasn’t looking, I went back and told her that she should have a little attitude adjustment towards people especially her elders. But, I said it in a nice way. I promise.:rolleyes1

Anyway, the vacation rocks on and everything went pretty smoothly. No more break-taking, chatterbox mousekeepers. No more “I should respect my elders but I don’t” castmembers. It was all good in the neighborhood. Well, there was that time or two that we dealt with some “groups” but that couldn’t be helped.

After we got home, I felt the need to write to Disney Guest Relations and let them know about the couple of “incidents” that occurred during the trip. About two weeks later, I received a telephone call from a very nice castmember who was pretty high up in Guest Relations. She and I spoke about the letter which also included a couple of observations that I made while on the trip and weren’t really complaints. Now, I know that Disney (and other big corporations) has been known to send out generic “I’m sorry” letters or phone calls. But, this lady had done her research. :surfweb: She had all of my trip specifics...dates, resorts, room numbers, etc.

When we spoke about the mousekeepers, she asked me which date it was that I walked in on them and about what time of day it was. She told me that she had the mousekeeping schedule/log in front of her and she had a very good idea of the two mousekeepers that were in the rooms. She also told me that she had already spoken with one of the resort managers and they were ready to take action once they had received date and time confirmations from me. Questions were asked on whether or not we had noticed anything missing from the room (we had not) and if we had seem them lingering around other rooms (we had not). I was assured that action would be taken immediately and I believed her.

We talked about the other contents of my letter and had a nice long chat. She thanked me for writing the letter and that it had been shared not only with the resort manager but with several others in management (resorts and parks) as well. It was nice to see that the Disney customer service had not gone completely downhill.

Before we ended the call, she again thanked me for contacting them and told me that she would be sending a follow-up letter which would include a phone number for me to call. Disney was giving us two free nights at any moderate resort at any time of the year on their nickel! This was completely unexpected and it’s how our trip went from twelve days to two weeks! Thank you Mickey Mouse! :thanks:::MickeyMo

Like I always told my kids when they were growing up, if you don’t speak your mind, nobody will ever know what you are thinking, if you are mad or upset or as happy as a pig in the sunshine!

**Up next: How are we getting from Louisiana to Florida and where are we staying?

Oh my...I certainly would have been on the horn with Disney too if that had happened when we walked back into our room. When I first started reading it, I thought you were going to say they were both in the same room and you know what!

I'm glad Disney took care of you! I've not been very happy with a few things lately with Disney and they 99% of the time get back in touch with me.

Very good customer service. I had a complaint this last trip and also got a phone call and they ask all about the cast member involved but no free days for us:confused3 you are so lucky.

Oh Lawd...I thought the same thing Kathy did... :scared: Still, that was very uncalled for, and I am so glad Disney came through! We can all expect that not every cast member is going to be Disney perfect at all moments, but it is so good to know Disney STILL takes those things very seriously. It's one of the 47856486893653 reasons we all love the place so much! :goodvibes

And BTW~ :dance3: pixiedust: :cool1: :cheer2: on Disney giving you two more nights of magic, because that buys us Mickeystoontown readers even more magical TR updates!!! :p It's a win, win for everyone! :thumbsup2

Wow! That's very good that they listened to you in earnest and not just in a typical brush off kind of way. I know I would giggle at seeing the mousekeepers watching tv too, but it's definitely not ok and something disney should be aware of! I'm glad you didn't hold your tongue and brought it up -- like you said, if you never say anything, how will they know?

In the end -- HOORAY for two free days!!

Oh gosh! Wouldn't that have been something to walk in on. :crazy2:

It's good that they are listening to what you are saying. Just hope that they follow through.

Very good customer service. I had a complaint this last trip and also got a phone call and they ask all about the cast member involved but no free days for us:confused3 you are so lucky.

It's always nice to hear about Disney's good customer service. I never even asked or expected a comp but I sure wasn't going to turn it down.

EEEEK! I don't know if I would have laughed or ran if I walked in on them doing the "you know what".:lmao:

John and I had already talked about adding at least another night or possibly two but when Disney gave us the two free nights, I was more than pleased!

You know what? I wasn't really that upset about the mousekeepers but there's a place and time for everything and resting on my resort bed isn't the time nor place.

I did not expect her to give us the two free nights but I gladly took them.

Apparently a few of us have dirty minds because I thought the same thing! Lol glad to read we were wrong, and that Disney took your letter seriously.

I wish I was as detail oriented because we had a fantastic experience with a cast member at DCA last month and I would have loved to give him a compliment. He really made my daughter's night. Instead of just handing her an honorary citizen button, he had her say a little pledge about how Disneyland was the best place and she'd promise to love it forever. She loved it!

Those who know me know that I’m chatty and my posts can become quite wordy. If you don’t already know me, then I just told you that I’m chatty and my posts can become quite wordy. (See, I’m already doing it. :rotfl:)

I'll be laughing about this for the rest of the day! :rotfl2:

And I thought the same thing KatMark did about what the Mousekeepers were doing!

Glad Disney took care of you. It's good to know things like that are still looked into and taken care of.
