Does your teen boy carry a wallet?

DS has 5 or 6 wallets! He's borderline hoarder I tell ya. :lmao:

Currently he's using a leather bi-fold that zips on 3 sides. He bought it at the Boy Scout Jamboree this past summer.

He also has a leather Minecraft (Creeper face on it); leather Punisher (video game I think?); one made with duct tape (pretty darned cool, IMHO); a fabric camo; and even a leather one with Mickey heads all over it!

DS started carrying one when he got his license at the age of 17. I think that it's cloth and no Velcro but then I don't really know for sure. It always has been completely up to him.

What kind does he have? DS just got his license and DH insists that he carry a wallet now. DS has one from when he was younger. It's made by Quiksilver and has velcro. DH says only little kid wallets have velcro and he needs a leather one. I said leather wallets are for old men. LOL What do you think?

Let your son pick what he wants- if he is old enough to drive he is certainly old enough to know what wallet -if any- that he wants. I have just carried my license in my pants pocket with my cash my entire life!

Ds16 carries a black velcro wallet. DS18 carries a wallet that looks like a Nintendo Game Controller, its vinyl/plastic. They each got what they wanted.

For those of you who think I'm not letting DS pick his own wallet, that is not the case at all. The whole conversation about velcro and leather happened when DS wasn't around. I was trying to come up with different options for him that he might not know about. I wasn't planning to push my own ideas on him. If he wants leather, he can certainly have leather.

My teens don't carry wallets at all. They shove any money they have in their pockets.

:sad2:

My teen son has carried a wallet since he was 12. He carries his Scout membership & cards. He also has school ID. In about 9 months, he'll have a permit.

His current wallet is a tri-fold with snaps from Hot Topic. He needs a new one.

DS will have his license, school ID, a credit card (for gas) and maybe some cash.

I bet you never thought you'd get almost 5 pages of responses about a wallet, lol:goodvibes

If all mine had to keep up with was cashn he might not either.

He has to carry his public transit card, his health insurance card and his school ID. He usually has his Subway card and library card too, in addition to cash for lunches, etc.

If your kid is old enough to have a license, he's too old for a velcro wallet.

My DS15 refuses to carry a wallet and does this too. His nanny found $21 in the wash yesterday in his sweatpants. (of course she gave it back, but I might not have:rolleyes1)

Older DS(now 18) got a wallet freshman year of high school and used it constantly (and still does).

I think it's especially important once they are driving as it's too easy to lose the driver's license.

I was going to comment on why a 15 year old needs a nanny... But, dd17 lost her license. Why? Because I told her she needs to keep her license with her at all times (good habit), so she started taking a purse with her at all times, and she put it down, and lost it (plus her paycheck, debit card, AMEX gift card...)

It was only $11 to get it replaced - wish I could say the same about the $200 gc.

Not a teen boy anymore, but when I was I carried a money clip with a card holder as the back of it. It fit in my front pocket and was more comfortable sitting in class with a wallet in the back poket and was harder to loose. I still carry the same kind today many years later.

This is exactly what my husband uses and what he bought for my son as a gift when we got married. He loves that he has one just like his step dad and uses it to carry his money and military ID

OT, I tell my kids if I find money in the wash, it's mine. I have 3 kids and they all claim it's theirs when I ask. It's amazing how quickly that worked (or didn't for me depending on how I look at it lol...) My DH told me that wasn't really nice of me, but I asked him, where do you think the money comes from in the first place? :goodvibes

Both of my sons have leather wallets. That's what they picked out. I'd let your son pick out what he wants, he's the one carrying it around.

Haha, sorry, I was speaking about his grandmother, he calls her nanny (she lives around the corner and does our laundry sometimes:rolleyes1). Wish I was wealthy enough to hire someone to follow behind this kid.

Last I knew, ds was using a WHITE leather wallet!! :rotfl2: I can only imagine my mom must've given it to him when he was younger and he just never bought a new one. (She probably found it when she cleaned out the light blue polyester leisure suit and white loafers....)
