Since we are on the West coast, we actually have fun waking up extra early(I know, strange) and calling together. Sometimes, MS will change your plans due to unavailability and both of us need to be there to make a split second decision. For example, we wanted to book the Dream on DCL and they were nearly sold out on different dates. We had to make a decision right away which was different than what we planned. How do you handle that if you are alone? If you need to change a cruise date, that's another $95!

It's $0 to change my cruise date since I never use points to pay for my cruises. Changes in dates are easy to do!

I do most of the planning but with full input from DH along the way. However, we both call MS pretty equally although he says I am better at it because he gets too stressed :sad2: I even let him book high demand ADRs for our October trip (now that's what I call love and trust )

I am the one who makes all the reservations and plans. The one time DH tried (to reserve DCL/not DVC) it was very unsuccessful and I had to do that as well. He does, however, tell me where he would like to stay next.

My husband is aware that we own DVC since he had to sign some papers when we bought. That's about the extent of his DVC involvement. He enjoys our trips to WDW and other places but I am the official family vacation planner. I will sometimes ask DH's opinion about things, but if planning discussions get too involved his eyes start to glaze over. :rotfl:

Our husbands are very similar. I wouldn't trust him to do any planning or booking anyways....he wouldn't do it properly, he'd decided, book and leave it alone..... :lmao::rotfl: Seems too simple. :confused3

I do all the planning and revising and booking and changing and adjusting and complaining and changing again. :upsidedow

For the room - just my hubby since he is a control freak! He pays for DVC so I'm not complaining!

However since I'm the "little miss", I'm in charge of the ADR and cooking. :rolleyes1

Guess I gotta catch him up to the new millennium!

All my friends joke that I missed my true calling and should have been a travel agent. Just me when it comes to making reservations. The planning is 1/2 the fun!:goodvibes

Exactly! However now due to some hearing problems I have while on a phone DH does do all of the calling. I make the plans, we discuss them, I write it down for him and he makes the calls.

I checked "Both", but I do 90% of the DVC work and booking. She does an occasional booking.

The same thing for us. My DH has done it, but only if I can't do it for some reason. I think that has only happened twice in all the years we've owned DVC.

My husband usually does the reservations, but he's on travel right now and can't make the reservations for our next trip -- so I've been recently getting my feet wet and trying to get all my ducks in a row for when I call to make our reservations this coming Monday at the 11 month window. :goodvibes My first time doing so.

I've hijacked his ID here on the Disboards. He created this, but we both post questions here. I've been the question queen these last few weeks in preparation for our next trip and everyone on the DIS has been so helpful. :flower3:

I think it's safe to say he'll probably lead the bulk of the planning (he loves to do his spreadsheets) and will continue to make the ressies after this trip... but it's nice to know I can handle it and have somewhat of a clue about how it works for future reference.

I'm the official vacation planner of my household! DH knows how much I like to plan so he just wants me to tell him when we're going! He wouldn't even know where to begin to make, change, or cancel a DVC reservation.
I like it that way!! :thumbsup2

Exact same here, DH knows that we have DVC points but thats about the extent of his knowledge, he doesn't want to know any more than that and loves that I plan everything and he just gets to go and enjoy!;)

We actually have a total of five people on our account who can and do make and cancel reservations -- myself, my two adult daughters, and my two sons-in-law.

Also, I think it's worth noting that the scenario in the other thread is that the owner was trying to manage multiple rentals (not their own family reservations) and a serious family crisis at the same time. They apparently had a problematic renter who had not paid and the owner asked her husband to cancel that reservation. Unfortunately, he canceled the wrong reservation and ruined the vacation of an innocent family who had paid in full.

On that thread, some are saying that because NOONE (!!!) would EVER (!!!) let a spouse make or change a reservation :scared1:, the situation is a scam...which is silly.

That thread is a far cry from the simple premise of your poll.

Really? I don't remember anyone saying that "NOONE would EVER let a spouse make or change a reservation". What WAS said was that it would be a red flag for some of us as it would be unusual for two people to make/change reservations. I think the poll in this thread supports that the norm is easily having just one person in the family be responsible for dealing with MS.

I am the only one who manages my account. It's kinda like our bank accounts. You get too many cooks in the kitchen, then things get messy!!:rotfl:

Only I handle the DVC accounts. My husband knows what resort and when we are going and that's about the extent of it.

My DH would not know where to begin to make the reservations. I tried a few times to get him to do it just once because if something happens to me, he would not know what to do. All my DH wants to know is what time he needs to leave work, what airport we are flying out of, what airline and flight number we are going to be on. He may occasional want to know what resort we are staying at, but all that he cares about is that I get there from work to meet him. (We both leave work and meet each other at the airport, he drives and I take a train to meet him).

Just me, I doubt DH would even know where to call.

I've already answered and mentioned that DH has made reservations for us at times, however, I forgot to mention that HE's the one who has the DVC membership card in his wallet! If we're out somewhere, in Cape May for instance, or even at WDW, and decide to book;), he's the one who I go to for the phone/membership numbers!

Bobbi

PS. I don't do home checking account, that's his domain.

I voted other. I am the primary, but once in a while I may be tied up at work and can't make the call. In those rare situations I ask my wife to do it, but I give her precise instructions. She writes down the instructions and reads them to MS, especially if there is banking or borrowing involved.
So, yes she does it sometime, but she really is only repeating what I tell her.

She is very capable, but she knows I keep track of all that stuff.

Everyone tells me I should have been a travel agent and not a teacher...I am the only that calls..if I am bringing someone I pay...usually family and then get reimbursed....but I definitely make all of the reservations...and drag the family along
