My kitty keeps turning off the answering machine and my printer that is kept on the floor in my boys bedroom. Why does she have to lay or walk there?

My cat walks across my printer to get to her favorite bird-watching window, and prints a "how to" page every time. How she hits that button each time, I have no idea, lol! :)

We have an office style phone on the family room counter with buttons for line 1 and line 2, and the cats ALWAYS seem to step on the buttons as they walk by, then we wonder why the phone is off the hook....

My one cat turns off my computer all the time. He jumps up on the tower because it's warm and hits that dang button every time. :headache:

I have another cat that turns ON the stove. I woke up one day because I heard the gas burner clicking like it was trying to start. I ran downstairs and sure enough, the burner was lit. :scared1: We had been keeping a plastic file folder on the stove with all the documents from our flooded basement. DH had just moved it before we went upstairs to bed. I'm so glad that it was the first time the cat did it because were out of the house for a week (coming in and feeding the animals) while living in our RV due to the flood. The dang cat could have burned down the house!!! :scared1: :scared1:

We had a dog that would unplug things during thunderstorms! She would unplug the lights and alarm clock in the bedroom. If she was in the living room, she would unplug the tv. She would just pull at the plug until it came out of the socket. She was more afraid of thunderstorms than I am.

Sounds like she was a fireman in a former life. :lmao:

My kitty knows to stay off anything electronic or she knows I will turn her into a fur hat.

My DBF's kitty doesn't turn anything off or on, but he does open drawers and cabinets!

My dogs block the remote sometimes. I'll be fast forwarding the DVr with the remote, and they will get in the way of the signal. For some reason, they just love to wrestle in between the tv and me! Then I will go past the program or something.

Yes. My dogs will step on the remote and turn off the tv.

That's scary, how does he do that?

One of my cats opens the kitchen cabinet, crawls inside and goes to sleep. We couldn't find her one day and suddenly the cabinet opened up and out she came. It was the funniest thing. We used to keep the cat food in there, she must like the smell.

Cute! :rotfl:

My cat has turned on the stove too! I came home to my house smelling hot and found that the oven was on BROIL! Luckily, nothing caught on fire. My stove has the little dials you turn and the oven one is really easy to turn. The cats like to get on the stove and I am guessing, he rubbed his face against it.

I couldn't find the child-proof knobs to put on there, so I take the knob off. The little stub is not easy to turn. I just put it on when I am using the oven now.

My cats also like to change the channel on my tv, especially when I am really engrossed in a show.

The cat pictured to the left is very proficient at opening things. He can open any cabinet or closet door (bifold & sliding), and has even figured out how to open some doors with simple locks.

Additionally, he knows how to turn on the electric blanket. It is funny to watch he just walks on it until he hits the correct button then hops on the bed to enjoy the heat.

At first glance I thought you said with simple "LOOKS" and I thought, well, yes my cat can do that, too!

Yes, he opens doors with his LOOKS--and he is practicing mind control...for when his LOOKS fade :rotfl2:

Once in a while they lay on the remore and turn the TV off.

Yesterday my doorbell rang. My son opened the door and the dog was standing there. She jumped the fence, couldnt get back in so she went to the front door and accidently rang the bell!:rotfl:

Our dog doesn't turn things on and off in the house, but in the car he knows exactly which button to step on to put the window down. :dogdance:

My now-deceased cat used to answer the phone. I had an older, "cradle" style phone, and when it rang she would pull it off the hook and just meow at it. Drove people crazy, because they couldn't leave a message and when they called back the phone would stay busy all day until I got home. She also would turn on the water in the bathroom sink to get a drink, so I had to be sure never to leave a stopper in the drain.

A friend of the family had a cat who was very self-sufficient. He could unlock the front door to let himself out, but of course could not lock the door behind him. He also fed himself, which led to a very funny incident one night. His owner left Tender Vittles packets for him in the kitchen cabinet, and he would just open the cabinet and grab a pack when he felt hungry. Then he always took the packet into the bathtub to eat it, which was actually pretty considerate. This went fine for years until one day someone unfamiliar with the routine helped his owner put away the groceries. In the wee hours of the morning he went to get his packet as usual, took it into the bathroom, tore it open and dug in, and then started howling fit to wake the dead. The problem: he was eating a packet of Lipton Onion Soup mix!

I had a cat that would turn on the burners on the stove! :scared1: We ended up having to take the knobs off and only put them back on when we were cooking.

Btw, this cat ran away.
