I was stopped at a stoplight recently and pulled up next to a mail delivery truck. The worker inside was smoking. Is this common?

I don't have an answer for you..

But this is like the 3rd post I have seen this week about postal service complaints...

Not really a complaint- Just not something I have never noticed before.

If they are at work they should not be smoking in their jeeps/cars. Thank goodness my mailcarrier does not smoke, becuase i am highly allergic to cigerette smoke. One of friends used to smoke in her house. Once she had children she stopped because as she put it- "my kids are more important than my bad habit". She said that also saved a ton of money by not buying cigerettes all the time.

Maybe because the smoke might get onto the letters and if someone is allergic it might affect them?

Ore the smoke police is at it again? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Live and let live.

Just for the record. I'm very allergic to smoke and totally against smoking in MY house.

YES YES YES mine does like a freight train and most of the buds end up beside my mail box, but I won't complain because he's a really great guy, he will deliver very large packages without me having to go to the post office for them and go out of his way for things he normal doesn't have to, he's a keeper I hope! :thumbsup2

What?? So someone may smoke and it might get a whiff on a letter and they might affect someone?

I have no idea if my mailman smokes or not, but I do know that they drive the mailtruck with no doors, so even if they do smoke I would assume it would go away in the wind.

This is a joke right? :confused3 Do you know how much postal workers put up with from the public? If they aren't blowing smoke in your face or smoking at your front door then give them a break and myob.

If my mail which is my property reaks of smoke, I would have a huge problem.
If they wish to smoke they should do that off the clock or on a break, not in the jeep that holds other people's property. Smoke is smelly and harmful and affects others.

For real? :lmao: One tiny piece of mail MAY smell like smoke, has touched a hundred hands, from god knows where? Ok to be more forthcoming my DH is mailman. He doesn't smoke but constantly puts up with TONS of abuse from the public. Including threats on his life. Don't come at me with a piece of mail may smell like smoke. Feel good now?

I have nothing but respect for postal workers. I have no problem with any postal workers smoking on their own time. What i have a problem is them smoking around someone's property.
I am severly allergic that if I even inhale or smell a very small amount of cigerette smoke, I have to call 911 and go ot to the hospital. I would be very upset that i had to pay for a hospital bill becuase a postal worker could not wait to light up until he was at least out of his jeep. Maybe I should the bill to the postal worker?
And by the way, i have never been rude or abusive to a postal worker
Would your husband or any of his co-workers "feel good" about making soemone sick?

I need to leave this alone so as not to violate dis rules and get banned and to not put dh at risk of his job. Feel good about you and yours. Try to be good to your mailman even if he commits the legal sin of smoking.
