Does your job pay 100% for your health insurance?

We pay 100% for our employees, family members can add-on if they wish, but the pay for that. Our HR lead has a small group of 3 staff that meet with the broker and review the plans and make a recommendation. HR and I then review options. I'm thankfully our renewal rates over the past 4 years have been less than 5% each year.

My husband's company uses United Healthcare and we pay right around $600/month for the 4 of us. But that only covers 1 well visit a year and then we have to fulfil the $2300pp/$5000family deductible before any other coverage kicks in. So no doctor copay, we have to pay 100% of every visit until that deductible is used. It is pretty much catastrophic insurance. And it is not like he makes a lot too, he is under $100,000 so that is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for health insurance. It should be criminal, honestly. Oh, and if anyone has a spouse that works and qualifies for insurance at their job, then they won't cover them, only the dependent children. This also does not cover any vision or dental, dental is separate and is Met life. Like someone else said, it is more of a discount plan then coverage.

Hey! I'm new here, but I wanted to chime in. Yes, some employers offer 100% coverage for health insurance as part of their benefits package.

Practically. We pay a maximum of $1000 out of pocket per year for our family of 4. We have a $300 family deductible and then co pays until we hit $1000 out of pocket, then everything is free.

My husband's employer is Uncle Sam.

I’m retired now and on Medicare - but previous worked at a large company…they covered the admin costs of the plans offered and that was it…we were offered 2 plans, both were not great as far as coverage…I chose the cheaper plan (@200 a month IIRC) but it didn’t cover a penny til you met your deductible - which was @10k a year…so basically, just catastrophic coverage and 1 free well visit checkup a year.

Mine doesn't, but was just looking at a new job tonight that does. What a great perk!

I work for a hospital. You would think I would get great health insurance thar is mostly if not 100% covered. But no. The plan is expensive and pretty poor coverage. I pay $89 a month for a concierge doctor and $35 for a hospitalization policy. If I go to the ER and get admitted it is covered. If I don't it is on me. I was hospitalized for 5 days last spring. My out of pocket was about $1,500.
Two years prior to that I broke my tailbone and fractured my ankle. That cost me $475. I was out of work for 12 weeks. Fortunately I never take PTO or use my EID. I didn't miss a paycheck.
I take 5 medications monthly as a brittle asthmatic. I pay roughly $80 for them.
When I had my daughter (16 years ago)I paid roughly $3,000 but I also had extensive complications.

The biggest driver of out of control health care costs is the fact that the government controls roughly 75% of the market. As a result most people pay too much for health insurance and don't get a lot of health care.

Edited to remove a typo. It was a flat $475.

I believe they do have a free plan, but it does not work for me. I need the pharmacy benefits which the free plan does not have.

I've never had 100% paid benefits. It was 90/10 split when I first started and has moved through an actual 80/20, but then we started getting papers listing overall compensation each year and ghee, it doesn't seem to be split 80/20 like you say...

I didn't read all of the responses, but my DH's employer pays a certain amount. That covers his health, dental & life insurance polices. He pays for mine. If he chose to have lesser coverage, the remainder of the money would go toward my insurance. Life insurance takes up a lot of his insurance allowance.

The system here is a little different. As an employee I pay national insurance based on how much I earn, and my employer also pays national insurance on my behalf. Regardless of what I contribute in taxes I will always have access to healthcare that is free at the point of access. Many employers will pay in full for private health insurance too which is great - the employee only needs to pay tax on the value of the benefit which is usually 20%.
