accurate directions. We are driving for the first time since Nov. 2002 and we have a GPS. We will probably be lost on property since we are so used to Disney transportation to get around. :scared1: Any suggestions?? Thanks

You need to download the POI file that you can get from Mousesavers and add it to your GPS. THEN, you can get accurate directions in / around WDW. Without it - our GPS was a mess - kept trying to send us down CM roads and things.

I've always found WDW very easy to navigate (and I don't use a GPS). The biggest thing to remember is to know what park area the resorts are in - like Beach Club is an Epcot Area Resort.

Oh okay...our first two nights we are staying at Shades of Green which is by Poly/MK then we move to SSR for the next 7 nights. Which of course is a DTD resort. SO hopefully the signs will point us in the right direction.

Get a map of the world. learn how to get around (it's easy). Trust in yourself.:lmao: You can do it:wizard:

I've been wanting to do this. I just bought a GPS and it didn't come with a USB cable to connect to the computer. The only thing I can find in a store is a $40 kit that comes with charger cable and everything else. I don't need a charger, I just want a $5 freakin cable.

Can't order online, it won't be here by the time I leave.

I didn't use the $pecial Garmin cable to download the Mousesavers POI file to our GPS, I used the same one we use for our camera. If the connectors fit, most data cables will work from any device. Our cable works for camera, cell phones, and GPS.

I recommend looking for a non-GPS cable and trying that. If you don't already have one at home, then your local mega mart of choice will probably have a low cost one in the camera department.

BTW, that Mousesavers Disney World POI worked great on our Garmin!

For our April drive from MD to WDW, we had a new GPS (Geepers). It had traffic alert but we didn't really pay much attention to it until......

About 1 hour south of the DC beltway it told us to exit from 95. Well, being the "brain" of the trip, I knew we had to drive 587 miles on 95 before exiting for Beaufort, SC. I decided.....stay on 95.

Well, around the corner the traffic was stopped and it cost us over an hour (18 wheeler had flipped on the highway and they were trying to pick it up out of the ditch with 2 crains).

Geepers was only trying to help us avoid the backup.

Now, when we doubt Geepers, we remember this and follow directions!

I don't know what type of GPS you have but my TomTom uses the same USB cable that my Blackberry does.

For the most, I think the GPS systems are all going to the latest miniUSB data cables. If you need one to go to your computer, your best bet is to go to your local Best Buy or the like and have them open packages to ensure you get the correct one. They average $20.

Don't let them talk you into a kit because you wont need any of the other stuff that comes with it. If you bring in a regular USB cable with you, you might be able to just buy the data cable attachment and save more money.

I actually ended up getting mine at my AT&T phone center for like $5.

I have a map of Disney property and I read the signs. Disney is very easy to navigate. We have missed a turn or two but have never gotten lost.

Hmm, perhaps the "latest" is different than my 5 or so digital cameras. I've read most digital camera plug is the same and every one of mine was much smaller.

We had a little problem with our Garmin - usually there are two addresses for the parks. But once we found the right ones, we saved them to our favorites since we go to Disney several times a year.
And sometimes the signage at Disney is a little confusing - there is a lot posted on one sign and by the time you get down to reading your resort name, you are past the sign. The first couple of times we drove in Disney, we kept missing our turns.

I just set my favorites manually on the TomTom for iPhone by moving around the map and then put the flag where the parking entrance is.

Other than that I use my memory from the many hours looking at the property on Google Maps... :-)

Was very helpful a couple of weeks ago when they had some kind of Iron Man competition and many roads were closed. A huge traffic jam all the way up World drive. As we were heading outside the World for breakfast anyway, on the way back I took Co Rd 535, Reams Rd, Center Dr. all the way through MK backstage and finally Floridian Drive bypassing all the waiting cars on World Dr. :-) Distancewise, it sure was a bit of a detour, but I'm sure in the end it was still faster than having to wait for our turn at the parking plaza.

We entered the park at about 9:05, took the train to Frontierland and did a walk-on on Splash Mountain and BTM.

Seriously, the only way you can get lost on property is if you can't read. The roadsigns are everywhere, and do a great job directing you where to go.
