I had specific naming parameters for our dogs. The breeder's kennel name is first and then the name had to start with a particular letter that was indicative of the litter. My one dog is from the "N" litter, the other dog, the "O" litter. This is the standard naming convention for our breed.
The breeder had to approve the names, we couldn't just decide on our own. Although they were very flexible and open to any suggestions. However, to protect their breedings, they did fill out the paperwork themselves so that you didn't change it and name a dog with some ridiculous name
CH. kennelname'Nuff Said (call name = Snuffy)
Parents were: Ch. North-Asta Gyosedelmes CD (Asta) x Ch. kennelname Moonstruck (Mattie - I think)
CH. kennelname Oops! I Did It Again (call name = Britney)
parents were = BIS, BISS CH kennelname McCabe ROM (Mackie) x CH. kennelname
Not Again ROM (Ginny)
So, just by looking at the dogs names- you can tell that my dog Snuffy (who's registered name starts with a N) is the littermate to the mother of Britney (Ginny - who's registered name also starts with an N). Makes it kind of fun to read pedigrees when the breeders all follow this convention
And yes, Britney is 6 years old and was named by a pre-teen then obsessed with the ex-Mouseketeer Britney Spears. But the breeders were ok with it as it went well with Ginny's name.
