Chase and bark the vacuum cleaner? Mine drives me crazy. Our vacuum cleaner has bite marks all over it. She's been doing this since she was a puppy - you would think she would figure out it wasn't a threat by now. Does your dog do this, or is mine the only weirdo?

One of mine does.
The other one growls at it, because my vacuuming usually means she has to move from a comfy spot.

My 80 pound dog does the same thing. She doesn't bite it though, she's too chicken. The puppy I had did bite it.

My big strong doggie that isn't afraid of anything is afraid of the vacuum, but only when the floor attachment is on it. She likes to be vacuumed with just the tube thingy.

Mine leave the room when I get it out. They are big chickens.

We have three chihuahuas who in total weigh maybe 15 pounds. When I vacuum, two will run for their lives. But our oldest, who is 10, blind in one eye, and afraid of ladybugs will go completely commando. She'll pounce on it with her two front paws, and snarl at it with the hair on her back standing up. It's funny to watch.:D

Yep, mine's a husky/shepherd mix, looks really ferocious, and yet she's afraid of the vacuum cleaner. The lawnmower and wheelbarrow, too.

Yes...my 6 yo Bullmastiff does that all the time with the vacuum. She has a really deep loud bark...so it is always just "so fun" to vacuum!! LOL!!

She also barks and bites at shovels and rakes. When she was a puppy, she was outside and I heard her just going nuts barking, growling etc. I went out and found she was totally going nuts over a paint brush propped up against the house! (no paint on it or anything...the kids use water to "paint" in the summer).....But since then, I knew Babe was going to be a "weirdo" dog!! LOL!!

All I have to do is reach for the vacuum and my dog runs and hides under a table in another room  She lays there and shivers, I can't figure out why she's so terrified of a vacuum.

But now that I think about it, I think I would rather she run and hide than bark and bite the vacuum. :teeth:

Yep, he also hates the blow dryer and lawn mower!

This is so funny. My dog also hates rakes, brooms, anything like that. The lawnmower she's okay with, but she really hates the weed whacker. And I agree with anyone who says they would rather have a chicken dog who hides. Vacuuming is extremely stressful in this house with all the barking and biting.

Mine tries to stare it down, especially when it's near his toys. He also does a weird dance to try to get by it.

He peed on our old one and short circuited it.

ROTFL Allie!!!! :teeth: ;)

All three of my dogs are terrified of the vacum which can' hurt them; but they bark at, dart in front of, and jump around the riding lawnmower, which can. . . needless to say they aren't an extremely bright, but I love 'em anyway. . :) :) :)

Our 1st Lab attacked the vacuum sweeper and bit the electrical cord. He got a shock out of it and boy, did he let out a bark! He never bothered it after that!

TC:cool:

My dogs are scared of the vacuum! That's so funny that she bites it!
