Does Your DH Help Enough With The Housework?

What does he do that you appreciate?

What doesn't he do that you wish he did?

Just curious!

He vacuums the whole house every week.

He washes and waxes the floors when they need it.

He takes care of all of the outside work -- lawn, bushes, trees, pool, etc.

We both work 40+ hours a week outside of our home, so things get done when they get done.

I don't use the phrase "help" with the housework, because that implies that it's a woman's job to begin with, which I certainly don't agree with.

I don't ask him to do much, but when I do, he complies with little or no complaint. He's learned not to balk at any task though. If he gets some sexist attitude about a chore, he regrets it QUICKLY.

He grew up in a house where Mom waited on all the men hand and foot and house chores were beneath male notice. Life with me was a change for him, but he adjusted easily enough.

Nothing makes me happier than when he mops the floors for me!
He'll dust, vacuum,whatever. And I never have to snowblow or mow. He's quite the catch!

Kitty Litter! He is incharge of that! Thank goodness!
I take care of the inside of the house for the most part but he usually will do the dishes several times a week!
He does the mowing and trash

DH is responsible for yard duty and garbage duty. He also helps with the laundry, cooking and dishes. I just wish he would occasionally clean the bathrooms

Mine does 99% cooking
He cleans bathrooms, kitchen, bedroom.
He mows the lawn, changes the oil, plants the flowers Just about everything

I do the house cleaning mostly but he fills in whenever I need him to. He often cleans the kitchen on his own, washes his own clothes if I haven't been able to get to them, cooks sometimes. He cleans bathrooms much better than I can. All his brothers had to learn how to clean house. With seven kids in the family, they all had to pitch in.

When I was working outside the home, he was in charge of the bathrooms. But now that I am working for him here, I do the bathrooms. Or rather the kids do theirs, I do ours. He is in charge of cleaning our shower and tub. When we buildt our house he put in an enormous tub that four people could sit in and a shower that eight people could stand in. I told him that cleaning them was going to be his job since he wanted them and I've held my ground.

What would I like him to do? Take off his shoes in the garage when he comes home from work. He takes them off and leaves them by the door when he comes inside. Since he is in the construction business, he brings home a lot of dirt. I have learned to live with it. Besides he is the best husband so I can put up with a few dirt clods in the house. They'll sweep.

I really can't complain. My DH probably does a lot more around here than I do. He does all the outside stuff except gardening and I think I'd say we both do everything indoors. Who ever is around to get it done does it. I am very lucky!!!!
He does most of the cooking as I hate to cook!!!

DH always does the dishes and cleans the kitchen. He also does all the outside work and now that he has retired he also has taken charge of the pool. He does his own bathroom and will vacuum the house. He always asks if there is anything he can help me with. I have the BESTEST husband.

I am so blessed to be maried to such a caring, compassionate man. He is such a wonderful father, he has a way of restoring order with his children without ever raising his voice. He knows me so well, and is always interested in what I say, and tells me pretty much everyday how beautiful and smart and funny he thinks I am. He values my independence, and supports me in the decisions I make.

That being said the man does ZERO housecleaning. None. Nil. Nada. Its just as well, he is lousy at it, and I love to clean (I know, I am weird!) He is willing to help, but he just doesn't have his priorities straight. For instance, I asked him for a little help the other day, my sister was coming over. I just asked him to straighten up the bathroom, he had just taken a shower and it was wet in there and just sort of messy. Didn't ask him to clean the toliets or any such thing. Just straighten up. I go in there an hour later and he is straightening his robe JUST SO on the rack, making sure it was properly creased and such. Or I'll ask him to clean the livingroom and I come back an hour later and he has alphabetized all his CDs.......

Sounds like a pretty great group of husbands to me!!!

My knee gave out a couple years ago & DH took on the laundry since it's in the basement & I can't get down there. He does most of the grocery shopping because I have trouble walking around the grocery store - or if I do that's ALL I can do for the day. He's usually the one that runs the vacuum because that also is very hard on my knee.

I appreciate everything he does around here!! The only thing I wish he'd do that he doesn't is to help decide what to have for dinner. (Not actually cook it - just decide what to make. After 28 yrs I'm out of ideas! )

My wonderful DH does MORE than enough around the house! I cherish him for that! I really think I have the best man in the whole world!
WE also both work 40+ hours a week and we have 4 kids ages 8 and under, the newest being 11 weeks. Things get done pretty much on an as needed basis! Whoever happens to be arpund when it needs to be done! Now that my oldest is 8, he is getting to be a much better helper!

He really is though, he is much pcikier than I am and while I dont abide dirt I can overlook some clutter, he has a very low threshold for clutter lol.

He cleans the kitchen ( says after I went to all the trouble of making the meal the least he can do is clean it up, what a winner eh? ) and folds the laundry. Those are the things he does most often, we dont have a set routine though, if something needs done whoever sees it ( or cant live with it any longer) does it. There is very little said about housework here actually. It all gets done by whomever does it. Its very rarely an issue at all I love my husband

My dh actually helps me clean "too" much if I can even say that! He comes home from work and looks for things to clean and to be honest, it really is aggravating sometimes...but I guess I shouldn't complain, LOL!

He drives the kids to school & picks them up again, but then again he has to as he does voluntary work 10 mins from their school & we only have one car

I'd love it if he helped tidy up instead of ignoring all the stuff that ends up on the floor

well you better clean during the time outs
