Does your deli "dangle" your meat slices?

Would those of you who object, please explain what is so gross about a dangling deli? It would seem if that grosses you out, it would not be very appealing to eat.

ROTFLOL! legs22! I've been sitting here reading this laughing like anything thinking the same thing about Seinfeld!

Now Micca's gonna turn "Deli Dangling" into a debate! ROTFLOL!

I have no idea if my deli person dangles the goods or not. I use the computerized gizmo that orders the deli products, get my ticket, continue shopping, then go get my goods with my ticket. I don't like standing around at the deli. And I have no idea why. LOL!

I am wondering the same thing...what is so gross about dangling? Is it the additional meat exposure to air, the high pressure intimidation of having to answer intimate deli questions in front of strangers....does your meat taste better if it stays in a group? What????

Ok I confess I love to have my meat dangled I especially love to see garlic bologna dangled

The cut has to be just right in order for me to make my favorite garlic bologna-cheese-tomatoe and double onion sandwich YUMMY YUMMY!!

I'm back! And I have been TAGGED!! I love the answers. Just to pass on some more info, I find it so silly to see a guy in a green hat, wearing plastic gloves, holding a slice of meat between his thumb & forefinger and waving it back & forth. It grosses me out because with rare roast beef...you get the picture? Yeh, I saw it happen.

My deli shows the first slice and I don't mind.

I was there once when a lady asked for a pound of thin sliced salami. The clerk sliced the pound, then the lady said it was too thin! She wouldn't buy it. So, another pound had to be sliced. I felt bad for the clerk, the lady really chewed him out.

Well my MIL works at our local Weis store, and she is happy to report that She 'dangles'. Customers get mad when she doesn't!

I don't usually point things like this out, but one of the danglers at my deli is named "Dung". Really.

All kidding aside, Dung is one of the best danglers in the store. And he's quick too!

The supermarket I go to has a small chart at the front of the counter showing different thicknesses with a corresponding number. You just tell them the number and they start slicing. No dangling involved.

My deli also dangles... I used to go to a small deli who "didn't want to cut my order" because it was too busy and they precut the deli meat.... I told the clerk I didn't care how busy it was, I wanted it sliced thin, I want to have more than 3 sandwiches from a pound of meat!! He grumbled but he cut the meat thin, he probably spit in it when I wasn't looking too!
