My stepson wants these skate/shoes for christmas, not sure what they are really called. Well I saw a boy with them on the other day, and they look like alot of fun, i'm sure he would really enjoy them. But then I think, what if he falls, or skates when/where he's not supposed to! Anyone have advice to give? Also where would you buy them and how much? Thanks

They're called Heelys, I believe. There are quite a few places, now, battling with children who insist on using them where they're not appropriate (including our new hardwood floors -- idjut nephew!)

You can buy them wherever roller skates are sold, as well as most sporting goods stores that sell footwear (Sports Authority, etc.)

If I was a child, I would LOVE these shoes. As an adult I hate them. Signs of aging I guess.

I have them and LOVE them

poor mans segway

My son has them and loves them - he's 10. He has never fallen yet and has had them all summer. I do watch where he goes w/ them - usually just outside. Our school does not allow them. I say go for it. I got his at Sports Authority. They were $58
