I told you how I wrote to my friend/rival from grade school and high school and that he sent me a very nice email back. In it, he talked about my news, said he couldn't wait to meet my kids, and wanted to know about my boyfriend. However, I had congratulated him on his marriage in the first email and he didn't mention his wife once. He did mention that he'd like to have a reunion for the class if possible. In my email back to him, I told him about Roger (in pretty long detail-who would have thought that, right ;) ) and told him I was looking forward to meeting his wife and seeing him. I also asked to know about his wife and said that I'd love to help him organize a reunion. Well, he just wrote me another email last night and talks about organizing the reunion but doesn't say one thing about his wife. In fact, he says "I'm not in Richmond too awfully much" not "we're not". Would anyone else read something between these lines or am I most likely reading something that's not there? (It wasn't any of his family members that told me about his marriage.....it was our former youth minister.)

It's very possible he's having marital problems or working through something personal with his wife. It could also be nothing. Maybe he's just more comfortable discussing the past with a friend from his past.

Disykat, the only reason that I found it strange was because he wanted to know who my boyfriend is but doesn't even mention his wife's name. I was thinking that either he's having marital problems or that maybe even he's already divorced. I'm just concerned about him.

It may indicate marital problems or it may not. I think that when guys catch up with friends, they just are not as detail oriented. I have heard my DH talk with friends he hasn't talked to in a long time and I'm amazed at the stuff he leaves out!

I would probably assume he's separated from his wife, even though that's jumping the gun. It just sounds that way to me.

Lil mermaid, if someone asked him directly about you he'd say something though, right? (I would hope)

Maybe you should just e-mail him back and only ask him about his wife, that you heard he is married and wanted to know more about her. Don't write about anything else...just her. And see what kind of response you get. I wouldn't think he could avoid answering.
