Does Wishes or Escape work best for us?

We are doing a VR in Oct. of 2011 and I am going back and forth as to which package would work best for us. We will probably have no more than 23 guests because there will be several kids under 3.

We want an extremely simple ceremony with little to no flowers, no cake, no video, no limo...pretty much no frills. We want a short but sweet ceremony.

What we do want to spend the majority of our budget on is 3 things. A brunch for our guests, a cocktail party with appetizers and an open bar, and a dessert party with an open bar. We want the cocktail party and the dessert party to be amazing. Not only amazing food and drink, but an amazing atmosphere and decor that is out of this world.

I like that I can pay only 4700 for the Escape package and that includes service charge and everything. But there are several things that I really don't want or need, like the cake and the limo. Should I just go with Wishes? Do you think with those 3 items (brunch and the 2 parties) I can reach the minimums?

I feel like I am talking in circles here!

If you go with a wishes you would have to do all 3 in the same day for it to be able to count towards your minimum, if you do plan on doing all three I think a wishes would be good but of not you might have to do an escape.

You can have an escape but there's very little customization without upcharges. And if you subtract elements they won't credit you. If you want a brunch the 10am ceremony under a wishes contract only has a $10k expenditure. And I've heard rumors that they are extending that through 2011 wishes weddings.

That would allow you to customize to exactly what you want and really stick to a low minimum.

Yes all in the same day. Like a 10am ceremony, a brunch following, then a break in the day followed by the cocktail party an desert party. I was just wondering if I would hit the $20,000 min without all the stuff for the ceremony and no large reception to deocorate or have entertainment for.

The $10,000 minimum is for weekday 10am and 12pm ceremonies

really? So I could do the first two and that would hit my minimum even though I am doing 2 other things later in the day, after 2pm? My min. would still be $10,000?

Kristine

Yes, As long as your ceremony is at 10am you get the $10k minimum even if you have a DP at night. And it's only weekday wishes weddings.

Good lord, your a wealth of information! Thanks!

I just looked on the Disney wedding site and it says:

All Week Long (Sunday - Saturday)
Food and Beverage Functions beginning prior to 2:00 P.M. (Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch Receptions)
Minimum Expenditure is $10,000++
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I could do a Saturday it looks like, if I needed to. I want Saturday, but can do Friday if I have to.

Thats great, they must have changed it. When I signed my contract it was still only weekdays. That will work out great for you!

My Sales girl told me the 10K minimum has been extended for 2011  for the early weddings. We are looking at Feb 2011 and plan to stay at minimum.

never thought of doing it in the Am and having the DP at night! I think that is an awesome idea!!!!

doesn't escape have a maximum of 18 guests (to include bride and groom?)? ... I'm sure if you are having just a few over it won't be a big deal... :)

Have you talked to DFTW about which would be appropriate/suitable for you? :confused3

Happy Planning! :hippie:

Actually the Escape guest limit is 20 including bride and groom, but the above poster is right the guest limit would come into consideration.

We toyed with the idea of upgrading to Wishes to accommodate 2-3 more guests but just couldn't justify the cost and stayed with Escape.
