Does WestJet let you check in up 2 bags per person?

I was looking at the WestJet website & could find out if you are allowed to check in up to 2 bags, like you can on Air Canada. Since you can on Air Canada is ok to assume you can also do this on WestJet, so if anyone can answer this I would appreciate it. If no one is able to answer this, then I guess it's best to call them on their 1800 number correct?

On WestJet's travel tips page, they claim that you are allowed 2 checked bags up to 70lbs each, and 2 carry-on bags (a standard and a personal) up to 22lbs each. This is for both Canadian and U.S. flights.

Air Canada also allows 2 checked bags for economy passengers, but they have a maximum limit of 50lbs each. They do allow you 2 acrry-on bags up to 22lbs each like WestJet.

Thanks for the information, this is going to help my family out a lot when we fly with WestJet in December to Orlando. I am also surprised that they allow more then Air Canada, but I won't complain about it.

Just remember that you're the one who will have to lift that 70lb suitcase in and out of your vehicle; truck it through the airport and lift it on to the weigh scale at the check-in; carry it through US Customs and then lift it on to the baggage conveyor there.

I can't imagine packing 70lbs into a suitcase. I have seen travellers with suitcases that must have weighed at least that much, if not more.

It's the great thing about being a DVC member. We can pack the absolute minimum and get by just fine with throwing a load of laundry into our washing machine before we go to the park in the morning and then throwing the clothes into the dryer before we go to bed at night. S'wonderful!

Now for the return flight -- it is rather nice to have that extra weight limit for all the purchases made at DTD and in the parks.

Wow - we fly Westjet next month ( :cool1: :cheer2: YEah I can finally say it's NEXT MONTH) and I couldn't imagine taking 2 suitcases per person - that would make 8 suitcases and 8 carry on's just for my family!

I'll be lucky if we can do 4 suitcases with 1 of them almost empty for the suvies!!

70 lbs sounds like a lot but some suitcases are between 20 and 25 lbs empty! Then add bathroom products (especially if you are a girl or have a teenager) and shoes - you are easily at your limit.

I only asked because yesterday my Dad bought a huge travel bag with a lot of space & it's so big that it could not fit in the overheard bin. So we are thinking of taking it as a 2nd checked bag, because we could pack for things or whatever things we purchase on vacation while at WDW.

Check out this page on the Westjet website. My ddinlaw had a rather large suitcase when we flew to WDW via Westjet last December. It was measured with a measuring tape at the check in desk at YYZ and MCO. It just made it according to the guidelines found there. She didn't realize there was a maximum size limit as well as weight limit.

Can anyone do a comparison between aircanada and westjet for me?

I can't do one for WestJet's side. That is until after we fly them in December, however I can for Air Canada & this is what I found.

I think their main problem is the lack of ticket agents working at check in, when it's a busy travel day. Because of that my family & I have had to use express check in (which we don't mind) but if you don't know the address of where you are staying, then you can't use express check in because you have to put it in with all your other information. So you would then be forced to stand in the regular check in line & if there is like 4 or 5 agents working, out of 25 ticket counters. Well do the math & you will be in the line for a while. However I think putting in where your staying is a United States law, not Air Canada's because that is what we were told, so you can't blame Air Canada because of that.

I can't think of anything else in terms of cons because once you check in, they have nothing to do with United States Customs & security check point.

In terms of pros having a lot of Aeroplan milles & using them to get seats is a plus & the fact that they fly to a lot more destinations is another plus.

Both have bad customer service!

Westjet tv's rarely work on the way from MCO to YYZ!

For the price difference, I would stay with AC. They have more airplanes so that if there is a problem, they have stock! :lmao:

Are Westjet's seats really that much more comfortable than AC's? or is it all just marketing hooey?
