Does WDW have a mold problem?

I think that the Carousel of Progress could probably use a deep clean or redo because the building is stinky every time I go on that attraction.

I mean... it's Florida, so yes. I'm pretty sensitive to mold -a few years ago I was staying at SSR and within a few hours of checking in I sensed a difference in my breathing. I called maintenance to check the filter -they sent someone right up who said that the filter should have been replaced the week before ...when he pulled it out it was filthy. Changed it out and things were fine the rest of the week.

All of Florida has a mold problem.

We had a very moldy HVAC unit and vents at Grand Floridian in 2016. It had a leak in it. They moved us to a different room.

First floor rooms are damp and too moldy for my family. We request upper floors on property, and have shower curtains changed if there's any black spots on them.

It’s Florida. It’s hot and wet. The entire state is a mold problem.

Well, I don't think it's a recent thing. It's just more stories get posted on the Internet about it.

Personally speaking I've seen mold in the Space Mountain queue and in my shower at All Star Music (I told the front desk about it and was moved). I agree with everyone else that it's Florida so there will be a mold issue and that it's not a new phenomenon.

Probably because they are cutting back on A/C, or AC maintenance, which accelerates mold formation in indoor spaces.

There is mold everywhere here. I am allergic and have trouble if I spend a lot of time outside. I have found that wearing a mask helps, so I have a way to use up my supply. I tried going without a mask some of the time on my Disney trip last week and ended up with nosebleeds and trouble breathing. Got home in the AC for a few days and I am fine again. The worst is sitting on grass, since it has mold on it, and I am also allergic to most grasses. Double whammy!

LOL. It rains a LOT at WDW too. Only been once, 6 years ago and I was amazed at the lack of covered areas for the unbelievable downpours that hit the area. And they should have known about that when the park opened, but 52 years later they haven't done anything about it.

Because there are more people that are concerned about it then there once was. So many things that we encounter in nature, like mold, are things that have existed since the first life form walked the planet, for some reason previously we just ignored it and went on with our lives. That's not to say that we didn't make any effort to get it under control, but at some point it is bigger than we are. Florida with it's proximity to water, heat and very high humidity is probably just one huge land mass made up of mold.

Hard to buy anything when you are packed in a store like sardines.

I don't think the problem is any worse than it's ever been, it's just now with the internet it gets more attention. As others have said, it's Florida, it's wet and muggy, it's impossible to totally get rid of all of it. To be fair, anywhere I've stayed that is near water has the issue. I've stayed in very expensive resorts on the river in Savannah and had the issue. I've stayed at very expensive resorts on the beach and had the problem. Heck, I've stayed at very expensive resorts here in Georgia that are not near water but it's muggy here and they have had it. We have to pressure wash the outside of our house twice a year because of it and it still comes in between times. Heat + humidity are not your friends, welcome to the south.
