I don't think the problem is any worse than it's ever been, it's just now with the internet it gets more attention. As others have said, it's Florida, it's wet and muggy, it's impossible to totally get rid of all of it. To be fair, anywhere I've stayed that is near water has the issue. I've stayed in very expensive resorts on the river in Savannah and had the issue. I've stayed at very expensive resorts on the beach and had the problem. Heck, I've stayed at very expensive resorts here in Georgia that are not near water but it's muggy here and they have had it. We have to pressure wash the outside of our house twice a year because of it and it still comes in between times. Heat + humidity are not your friends, welcome to the south.
