Does WDW do anything special for a birthday?

We may be going over DH's 50th birthday--does WDW do anything special at resorts or restaurants?

There may be some small things.....like a signed character photo in your room, or a cupcake with your dinner. And that's "pixie dust" stuff, meaning that it may or may not happen. You can get him a birthday button to wear, and that will get him some happy birthday wishes.

Anything more than that, you would have to arrange yourself. You can pre-order birthday cakes at the restaurants (check out the cake thread on the Restaurants board). There are some room decorating packages available through the Disney Florist. If you're staying at a resort that has room service (deluxes, CSR, some DVCs), there are special goodies that you can order, like champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, etc.

My son's girlfriend and I celebrated our birthdays while at WDW in May. My son talked us in to getting a birthday button (my son's girlfriend also had a "My First Visit" button). We were constantly getting Disney employees saying "Happy Birthday" to us. Even as adults it was fun. We did get a couple of desserts at restaurants without saying anything - again they saw our buttons. We thought it was really fun. Encourage your husband to participate. When my son turned 16 we were visiting WDW he was wearing an eye patch for an eye injury. We took down some pirate plates and napkins, bought a couple pirate themed things for POTC, and had a cake brought to our room to have when we got back from dinner one night. If you knew him you would know how much he loved this. We were staying at AKL and the staff also had a card signed by the Disney Characters.

When we went in 2010, it was for my birthday. (which actually fell on the second to last day of our trip) Disney went out of their way to make it special !!

When we got into our room at the GF, there was a chocolate mickey with a banner "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" surrounded by choc covered strawberries and a card from the characters. It was magical!!

They gave me a Happy Birthday button when we checked in and it seemed like every restaurant we ate at, they gave me a cupcake! It didn't matter if it was breakfast or dinner! It was such fun!!

In Epcot, we ate at San Angel...they saw my button (which I had on my purse) and told me they were going to get me a Spanish button... so they gave me a Happy Birthday button in Spanish. it was so sweet.

The REALLY cool thing that happened....on Space Mountain we got pulled out of line TWICE and brought to the front of the line because it was my birthday. (I'm pretty sure we were THE only people that thought that was cool though! ) But they made a big deal about it and my DD thought it was amazing!!

When we went into the week, I didn't expect, or even really hope, for any kind of attention for my birthday..... I think the CM's have so much fun doing things for people and really try to go out of their way to make vacations magical. I'm grateful to each and every one. Not only did they make my birthday magical, they made our first family trip for my DD (who was 4 1/2) the most incredible memory ever.

Just make sure your DH wears his birthday button....then let whatever magic just happen!!

We've been going that past six years for my birthday. . . the first year or so I wore my Birthday button every day and got lots of "Happy Birthdays" from cast members, along with the "pixie dust" as described by earlier posters. But, I began to feel like I didn't want to take advantage, so have only worn the birthday button on my actual birthday, but it's still always been really special. I say definitely get the button and wear it at least on his birthday!! It really does make you feel special . . . and like a little kid on your birthday!
