Does varying your exercise routine help you lose weight?

I am wondering if I am on to something or just a weird coincidence.

I had very faithful about doing my 2 mile WATP DVD every night. One and a half weeks ago I finally picked up the 3 mile. Due to odd hours and some fatigue (too many late nights on DIS), I wasn't able to complete 3 mile every night, some nights 2, a couple of nights 1. So, in the last 11 days, I have done the 3 mile 6 times, the 2 mile 2 times, 1.5 miles - 1 night and 1 mile 2 nights. I hope that makes sense.

But anyway, in the last 11 days I have lost 5.25 lbs. That is really fast for me recently.

Has anyone else seen this phenomenon?

P.S. Have also stopped eating Atkins b-fast and candy bars. Maybe that helped also.
 
I suspicion it has more to do with cutting out the bars! LOL!

They are notorious for stalling people - primarily due to the glycerine in them.
 
varying any kind of workout is a good thing!

Your body gets too used to the same all the time and falls into a rut!

Change IS good!:bounce:
 
My guess is varying the routine (ie. amount you are burning) is a help. I know if you continue to consume the same amount (and exercise the same amount) your body metabolism re-adjusts to that and weight loss slows down. That's why I've been able to break a plateau by increasing and/or varying my food intake, so increasing /varying your output should do the same IMHO.

p.s. I also have a too many late nights on the DIS problem. Guess I'm going to have to use signing on as a reward for AFTER the work-out!

Looks like this is the way to go
After pajammatam has lunch we're off to Dunkin Donuts (3mile roundtrip walk) to get an iced coffee
I did my 15x's around the gerbil track at 9am, will do the other 15 before I walk with Tammie
