Tried to get Chefs Table but we were out of luck for our trip. I booked V&A instead. Has anyone known there to be a cancellation? Does anyone know if there is a waiting list?

Thanks!

I recently made "regular" dining reservations for Sept. and inquired about the Chef's Table. Naturally, it was reserved all week and the CM did not offer a waiting list. He DID suggest I call back to see if there were any cancellations.

I get the impression cancellations are extremely rare and last-minute. I may call again once we arrive down there, just to see if I get lucky :)

I have never had any luck getting cancellations- But keep checking- you never know what might turn up- It's always been my impression that there isn't a wait list. Last year- we actually had V & A 's calling us to reconfirm our dates about 2 weeks before hand (I think that someone, like Concierge somewhere, was calling them to try to get a cancellation for one of their guests- but that's just my opinion). Good Luck- Jill

I doubt there'd be cancellations. Unless a deposit is required, why should anyone bother? Especially since the phone call is not toll-free. Most people wouldn't pay their own money for a courtesy call. Me, I would, because I know how much such a reservation could mean to someone else. Also, I get a flat rate for long distance so the phone call wouldn't cost me anything. Just don't count on cancellations.

There is a deposit required- $25 per person - Your credit card is taken when you reserve. I'm not sure if the cancellation policy is 24 or 72 hrs. in advance- but I do know that a $50 charge to my CC would convince me to call to cancel the ressie if I wasn't going to show up. So, keep checking for cancellations- and definitely call 72 hrs and 24 hrs. in advance. One year, our waiter told us that the previous night some gentlemen had procured the CT that morning because it had been cancelled- so it does happen.....
