Does this sound shady to you?

You did the right thing. Even if somehow you were wrong, better safe than sorry. You need to look out for the welfare of your family/kids and the neighborhood as a whole.

This was going on in front of your house?? You bet your bootie I would've called the cops! They know how to do their job, I'm pretty sure they won't mention who called to the people they're arresting...

:grouphug:

No way I would want that taking place in front of my house! There is a reason that she doesn't want her "clients" to know where she lives... it's dangerous for her and her family for them to know which house has all the drugs and money in it! Lucky for her they will now think she lives at your house, so her posessions and family are safe.

I would cal and make a report EVERY time I saw it happening. If any of your other neighbors are people you trust, then I would have them watching and calling, too. The more reports that come in, the quicker the cops will do something about it.

If it is occurring at certain times of day, call again to give the details.

I would have reported it too. I was at the grocery store last year. DH went in and I waited in the car. While I was waiting I saw 2 cars pull up-one car had 2 high school aged girls, the other had 2 high school aged boys. The boys got out of their car and into the back seat of the girls car. It was obvious they were exchanging something. I was starting to call the police and they saw me on my cell phone and drove away. I wasn't thinking and didn't get their license plate numbers. I gave the cops descriptions of the cars but I have no idea what happened after that.

My friend had the exact same thing go on in front of her house--she called the cops but they never could catch the girl in the act-by the time they got there she was done with her business and gone back to her house around the corner. Eventually my friends house was broken into and robbed--more than likely it was by one of the druggies that was either buying or selling in front of her house!

She did this in broad day light? Dang! You know usually people hate to be seen or acknowledged. Next time if you or DH is outside and sees her, maybe yell Hi such and such how are you? Yes, the cops may do drive bys, but they can't be there all the time.

I live on a cul de sac and a few years ago, there was a truck who didnt belong here pull up at my neighbor's house-which was empty and for sale-at night and they were stupid enough to have the interior light on and pass something back and forth. think whacky tabacky. So, I thought I would give them some more light. I got in my car and drove out of the driveway and parked in front of my house and had my high beams on them. They left real quick.

:rotfl: I love it! Mainly 'cause I've done something similar. A couple of years ago when DD was in 1st grade I saw a car come down our cul du sac at 6:30 am in the dark (think L shaped street) turn around and then stop at the bend. Now DD takes the special needs bus and back then they actually let them come down cul du sac's so we were out waiting for the bus to come at 6:45. The car was still there when the bus left. Now it was time for my then 3rd grade DS to go to the bus stop, down the street, around the corner and down the street. So I told him that there was a car parked at the end of the street and I was walking him down. All the other kids at the stop where kinda like why did you come down here this morning??? I stood in the street with my cell phone in hand ready to dial, until all the kids that had to pass the park car with some guy in it were safely down the street. Then after the kids were safley on the bus I stopped at the car, pownded on the window for him to roll it down and asked. "What are you doing here!" You should have seen the guys face! :lmao: "Where digging the basement for a house on the empty lot!" :lmao: I still wrote down the license plate and had a discription of the guy and hung it on my fridge until the house was built. I just don't know why he came so darn early!

:) You did the right thing. Let the authorities figure out if anything is going on that is illegal. If it's totally innocent, the police might point out to them that whatever they are doing looks like a drug dealing activity and they might want to meet another way.

Our home is on a side street right off of a very busy road. There is a smaller side street right off of ours.

In the last few days, my DH has said that he has seen a woman from the smaller street walk up to a car that stops right in front of our house. (Two different cars). The lady goes up to the car's driver side window, chat for 10 seconds or less, exchange something, then everyone zips off.

I thought he was crazy but today, I saw it happen again. This time she went to the passenger side window. I saw her pick several small white objects out of her hand, give them to the passenger, and get some money in return. Then she walked back to her house (several houses away).

Well by now I am sure you're thinking what I am. I hate to be suspicious but I think drug deals are going on in front of our house. We have small kids and sadly, so does she. :sad2:

DH called the police. Were we right to do that? We have no proof, but I think her behavior is very shady...

No I wouldn't have called, you really have no proof. You are probably 100% right what they are doing. I wouldn't have got involved

DH is currently taking Criminal Justice studies. And according to 3 of his Professers, all of whom currently still work within the court system or police departments, if you see repeated behavior as the OP discripted - CALL AND REPORT IT!!!!!! Better to error on being wrong and it is nothing, then to error and it be a major/minor drug operation that could lead to additional illegal activities occuring in and around your home.

6 years ago, we had a dealer move in 4 doors up from us. Cars coming and going - all hours of the day and night. Never staying to long. In the summer, the people would sit outside and one of them would go down to the cars. In the winter, someone from the cars would run up to the house. From what we were told, there were 5 reports, all within a 4 day period, alerting the sheriff's department of what we were seeing take place. It took the sheriff's almost a year to build their case. If we had all turned a blind eye, who knows what could have had been.

My DH is a police officer. We live at the end of a street that forms a V and continues into another street. We've lived at this house for 11 years and my DH knows EVERYONE'S car in our neighboorhood. If you don't look familiar, he'll stop you and ask why you're in our neighboorhood. We've had some people walking that try to cut through our neighboorhood into the land behind our lot. You can see the Walmart, Lowe's sign and such a small distance away. Nope, he'll turn them right around when he see's them. He'll remind them that the land is private property and cutting through would be against the law.

If you think this is going overboard, I've had my DH11's bike stolen from underneath my carport and witnessed 3 preteen boys steal a little girl's pink bike from my neighboor's house. I called them out on it but they ran. Just so happens my DH was getting off of work and was pulling into our subdivision when I called him to tell him what happened. He caught them and booked them. ;) They were later released to their parents.

OP, the police will tell you to report any suspecious activity. You are doing the right thing. Also as klacey1 states, we have to take care of our own.

Yeah that sounds shady. Ok, if it happened once, it could have been like, earrings bought of craigslist. More than that.. drug deal.

Yeah, I wouldn't answer your dh, he has no right to stop and question anyone that's just walking by.

Ya know, I read over my post before I submitted it and figured I might get one or two people that didn't like that statement. That's fine. We live in a smaller community that has been witness to more and more crime due to the increase of Meth use. My neighboorhood is not that far away from "a bad part" of town. Those that need drugs, need money to buy drugs and steal things to get that money. There is no walking by in our neighboorhood. There is one way in and one way out. Unless you are there to visit or making a housecall, there is no reason to be on my street. It's a dead end.

One more thing, my DH is part of the Neighboorhood watch for our subdivision. I didn't mean to imply that he was using his authority when speaking to those random people in the subdivision.

Sorry OP, I did not intend to highjack your thread.
