I had purchased the 5day w/ 4+ hoppers from Mapleleaf. A totally legit ticket. Well we found out that 2 tenants might both be moving out, putting a huge strain on us financially. So we are thinking about cancelling. The first thing I did was put the ticket up on ebay to get that $200+ back. It sold for my BIN of $218 which includes shipping. So I didnt make anything on it... Well I mailed the ticket yesterday and now I get an email from the buyer that she is worried, here is that email "Hi, I havn't recieved the ticket yet but expect to any day. I just called Disney to get some info and I was told that these tickets are non-refundable. I was told that ID will be checked at the gate and must match the purchaser of the ticket. My family has saved up for this vacation and have not been to Disney and had no idea of this rule. I don't think you were trying to pull something over on me I would just fell better with a refund so I can get the ticket from Disney. We're supposed to be leaving in 2-3 weeks. Please let me know what you think. I'm not trying to give you a hard time . Please get back to me tonight if you"

I will not give a refund because she is not going to have any trouble with this ticket. I have not used it *our trip is planned for October and I JUST bought this ticket 2 weeks ago*. Even sent her my receipt with it! What do you guys think? Steph

If I understand correctly, you and she have nothing to worry about. Hopper passes are clearly marked "non-transferable". That being said there is no way to verify the owner. The only tickets that need id are: Florida resident passes, annual passes and military passes.
If these are truly your everyday "Park Hopper" (even purchased from a reseller) you are fine.

There are several threads relating to this and their are opinions on weather you should do even if you can do it.

Good luck
Sandy

Thats what I figured... I emailed her that info that my ticket was brand new and she wouldnt have trouble... so she emails me back and is now worried about this "HI, I understand what you're saying, thank you. I do however have a question
that you don't have to answer because it has nothing to do with you but
would appreciate it so much........ Besides your ticket, which I now know is
ok to use, I also purchased others on e-bay. I bought 4 tickets that have
five out of the original seven days left on them. Do they check ID's at
Disney if the tickets been used before? This will be our first time and I am
so upset. I don't want to get caught doing something wrong but I also don't
have the $ for 4 more tickets. Like I said ....I know this is not your
concern, I just didn't know whoelse to ask. "

Is she going to have trouble at the gate with these? I know that people could have lied about the days left on there but if they did tell the truth, will she have trouble trying to use these? Thanks! STeph

I am no expert but I understood that used passes shouldn't be sold on. Don't they bear the original purchaser's signature? I would be a little weary of using those ones but it's not really your problem and she ought to contact someone at Disney for the final word.

As for the tickets you sold her - what details did you give when you bought the passes? It would be perfectly normal for someone to buy tickets for others to use as a gift so unless you gave a list of all the people who were to use the tickets when you bought them, I don't see how Disney could query their use when they are presented at the park gates.

Again, she should be fine with your tickets. Especially if you are showing her the original receipt, I assume it was recent and you would not have time to have used them already.

With the other tickets (though not your problem) she has no way of knowing the integrity of the person selling them. It is a risk if she has the days on them or not. I have my old passes in front of me and there is no signature. There is never an id request so she would have nothing to verify.

As an example, we were a group of 8. I held everyones passes together. They were unmarked, therefor I did not necessarily use mine each day, just one of the group. We bought 7 day passes even though we were only there for 3 park days as we knew we would all be back (not together) and it makes it more cost effective. I don't know whose passes I am now technically holding. I hope this makes sense in clarifying.

The only other thing I will say, I recommend she mark the passes from you (or you mark them) with an initial or symbol to know which she bought from each person. If she gets to the turnstile with the others, and is told there are no days left, there is no recourse at Guest Services only with the person she bought from. With yours, she should take the receipt to GS and explain they were a gift and mustnot have been activitated.

Good luck
Sandy

Thanks guys! I knew she was fine with my ticket since it was recent (purchase date was 4/29 and listed on ebay 5/1 (used BUY IT NOW) so there is no time for me to use them. I did tell her to never buy used passes on ebay again because you just NEVER know who you are dealing with. Even though I stated mine was new I could have lied (didn't but you just dont know). Thanks again for all the help! Steph

I would never BUY the used tickets on Ebay this way....but they are only illegal to sell in the state of Florida. That's why so many people get away with selling them on ebay.

And there is no way to check hoppers as to who bought them or who the original owner was (or how many days are left by looking at them-lol)

just my 3 cents (inflation)

Why would you buy a ticket on Ebay? That is very dumb in my book. I wouldn't even feel right selling on, not that I would ever do that.

And another three cents....

I bought a leftover 2 day hopper off ebay last year for my BIL who decided to join us at the last minute. Wouldn't do it again, paid too much, and sweated the whole way through the turnstile. But in the end, there's no way to verify. You're only as good as the word of the person selling. So you definately have no problems. Your buyers has no problems, either, but I can relate with her worrires. That's a mighty long wait in line when you don't know for sure whether or not you're going in.

On another note, your buyer should be mighty pleased. Usually, old passes sell for rediculous amounts on Ebay.

I agree, buying used tickets could be asking for trouble. But she didnt really think it would be a problem (this is her first Disney trip) so she thought she was saving some money this way. She does realize her mistake and is hoping that she won't have any problems at the gates now... Steph

I'll ignore the "dumb" part :D :D :D

Why buy? Ebay auctions are a fairly common way of doing business in cross-value goods these days. It's the old "one man's garbage is another man's treasure" syndrome. In buying tickets off Ebay, I did what I always do when bidding on Ebay: choose only a seller with an extensive record (preferably going back over a year), and little or no negative feedback. I say little or no rather than just no negative feedback because by reading the comments, you can occasionally figure out that some negative feedback falls under the catagory of "stuff happens." So it can be a smart way to pick up something you can't get elsewhere, such as a two day hopper. My BIL was coming to join us for two days and two days only. Single day passes meant we were stuck to a single park due to his schedule, which we didn't want. That's why.

That said, even with an otherwise un-locatable two day hopper from a seller with a sterling record, the sweat starts to flow as you approach the turnstile. I'd certainly use Ebay as a last resort next time.
