On the phone with a very nice lady at member services. Trying to make a vacation that crosses over UY. Reservation will start in Nov and overlap into Dec. (Dec UY). I need to borrow a few points from Dec 2015. She said I can't because the start day is in Nov. She said I have to make 2 reservations and link them (same resort/room) - is that right?

I think this is right. I've never done it, but when I tried to book something online that spanned two use years, it wouldn't let me do it online. It said to call member service.

Assuming you don't need to borrow points for your November nights, then yes, that is correct. Crossing use years is technically two linked reservations. And you have to call MS to book it. How the new My Disney Experience will handle it, I don't know. It used to be handled seamlessly, but people now seem to be having trouble doing online check-in for linked reservations.

Ugh! That's what I immediately thought.

The poor lady must be new because she didn't know either. She said she is going to check with a SUpervisor and call me back. I haven't heard from her but I can see the reservation now. 1 reservation - however, my points are all messed up - to my favor at this point.
I have no idea where she got the points to book the reservation that I see on my screen.
I'll wait to see how she resolves the issue.
I guess she is going to have to make it into 2 reservations.
Thanks

We just completed a trip that crossed our use year. I wasn't able to book it online, but MS was able to book it for me with a single reservation number. I've just looked at my completed trips on the member web site, and it shows a single travel plan number, and a single check-in date for 8 nights starting on 7/27/13. Our use year is August. We purchased the dining plan for that trip, which is why I was concerned about having a single reservation number. I told this to the CM, and she put me on hold for quite a while to make it happen.

I'm thinking a more-experienced CM may have been able to work some magic for you.

You're right. She just called me back and I have 1 reservation (1#). I thought the whole point in calling MS was so they could combine into 1 reservation. I'm relieved.
She was very nice and tried hard so hopefully she knows what to do for the next person.
Thanks
