I just booked our room only ressie at the AKL with the 40% PIN for 11/28-12/3!! :cool1:

I have a few questions. Well really my DH does.

We were quoted $972.00 after taxes. My DH says thats about 17% taxes on top of the main price.:confused3 I asked the CM how much it is before taxes but she said the system doesn't show that. :confused3 I thought our confirmation email would break it down but it does either. Does that sound about right?

Also, she tried to get us to but tickets. We don't know yet how we are going to go to that parks. DH thinks we can go only 4-5 days.... Yeah, right with a 2 yr old?? I say shorter trips more days. Anyways, the CM told me to be aware that ticket prices go up ussually in the summer. Is that true? She tried to get me to buy one day because we can always add on more once we arrive. True, but DH would like to wait.
My next questions are: Do the tickets increase during the summer and about when? If we do buy a one day now, are we "locked in " at that rate? Meaning, when we arrive at AKL and add more day after the price increase, will we pay the current prices or the increased prices? CM said the current, but we know that sometimes the CMs don't always provide accurate info.

Thanks everyone! :flower3:

If you booked with Disney, you can still make changes to your park tickets (Magic Your Way Package, including Park Tickets, Hoppers, Water Park and Dining Plan Options) up until a certain number of days before you arrive (I'm not sure if that is 45 days prior or closer?). It's canceling outright, or changing your reservation if it's insured that will cause problems and forfeiture of insurance. Also, if you purchase special event tickets, like MVMCP, etc - those will not be refunded - but again, those are standard park tickets.

I think the taxes are 12.5%. Ticket prices usually go up in early August--at least they have the past 2 years. If you add a one day ticket to your room now, you will get it at today's price. If you upgrade that ticket to a multiday when you get there, you will get credit for the amount you paid for the ticket against the current price of the multiday you want to purchase. You can save some money by buying your multiday now and including it with your room. My guess is that the increase will be less than $20 for your multiday.

So what you are saying is that we will have to pay the increased prices once we get there tro ad more days to the one day.

That sounds right. I knew the CM wasn't informing me correctly.

Thanks. If anyone has more info, please let me know. I really wanmt to ensure we are purchasing these items at current rate. My DH is nervous about doing a Disney vacation. Well, it's really staying at AKL. This is our 1st time staying deluxe. He always thought the mods were pricey, but with this being our "familymoon" he wants this to be "my" dream vacation.

I don't want to spoil our trip because he is worried/upset about the extra costs tacked on when we get there.

Room tax should add, as PP mentioned, 12.5% to the bill. While you would pay the new price for any additional days, if you bought, say a 3 day ticket now, you would be locked in to the current price for those days. You would only pay the new amount for the extra days. Since it gets cheaper by the day (those first few are the most expensive), I would probably add a 2 or 3 day ticket from now and go from there.

The other option is to buy your tickets through Undercover Tourist who sells them at a discount.

Once there, you go through the gate, activate the ticket, and then can upgrade and you get full value.

Right now, you can get a 4 day ticket for the price of 3 ($232.95 including tax). To upgrade to 7 days, it is only $6.00 more.

Thanks! I would love to buy our ticket fromanother site. Our work sells tickets for buy 4 days get 7! Unfortunately, with our party we want to add the QSDP and from what I was told and read here you cannot buy tickets elsewhere and get the dining plan.

As others have said the tax on the hotel is 12.5%. To figure out what you were charged we would have to know your room category.

To get dining you must have tickets with your room and be booked as a package. You can 'add' that later. Yet when you go from a room only booking to a package it basically means that you cancel one and book the other. That usually goes quite seemlessly and only the worst CM's have issues with it. Sometimes, though, it just can't be done.

Buy 4 get 7 tickets is a very very tiny special deal. Not the previous poster - the cost difference between a 4 day ticket and a 7 day ticket is only $6. Even buying from undercover tourist, the special rate isn't that much of a savings. If you have no further discount from undercover tourist, a 5 day adult ticket is 236 (including tax and shipping, you get your 6th day free - $2ish extra value). Through disney, the 5 day ticket is 228+tax, so about 243. There just isnt that much difference for which ones you buy. There is another 5-10 savings if you are getting a park hopper or water parks and more through undercover tourist. So at most the savings you will get in these scenarios is about $17/ticket.

I booked a standard room at AKL. with the discount no tax to my calculations 6 nights is $864.00. So, 12.5% tax is $972! exactly what I was charged! Thanks everyone!

My DH is thinking about adding the tickets after we book our flights which will be before August. Not sure what his mind set is but ....:confused3

Now I'm just hurting for a FD PIN. That would save us even MORE money. Though I did just receive the Monster PIN. Wonder how much 40% off a mod would be......

Got some numbers to run.... Though I doubt I would downgrade... I just need to know. And I KNOW if my DH found out about the 40% off any resort PIN he would want to know. :sad2:

ahhhh...your dates show 5 nights not 6. That's why I couldn't figure your pricing. The closest thing I could come up with for 5 nights was pool view, bunkbed. Now it all makes sense.

Just in case you don't know - you can't use both discounts at the same time, it's one or the other.

How old are your children? I'm assuming one is under 3 (free) since you mentioned a 2 year old. Free dining won't save you more money if the other child is under 10. You can't truely compare a room only to a package, so the assumption is that you will book a package with dining either way so that you have the same basis for your comparison. So rack rate will be your room, tickets and dining at full price. Your 40% discount would save you 108/night off rack rate. Free dining if the other child is under 10 will only save you $98/night off rack rate. If the other is 10 or older, free dining saves you 126/night off rack rate.
Summary:
Room discount saves total of 648
Free dining with child under 10 and child under 3 saves a total of 588
Free dining with a child over 10 and a child under 3 saves a total of 756.

40% off at a Mod:
Price differences for standard rooms in packages with the exact same components (either both room only, or both packages) with 40% discount - $372 (about 62/night)

My bad. We are staying until 12/4. And yes, one child under 2 and one over 10.

I told DH about the 40% aff any room level. Of course he wanted prices, so I had to fine tune my spreadsheet numbers. He of course liked the numbers of the Mod and Value, but agreed that this is our (my) dream vacation and we are doing this for the memories not just to "get away". This is not only my fav resort but DD's as well. So, he even suggested we get a pool veiw! It is only about $36 more, but I think I will post that topic to another forum. ;)

Thanks everyone!
