Does this seem like a rational plan?

Okay... my saga continues, we are heading to WDW on 12/5 for 5 days with extended family. Luckily, that trip is already paid for;) Now DH is at a conference in Orlando 11/1-11/3 and said the magic words..."IF you can get a reasonable airfare meet me and we'll do a few days at the Kingdombb:teeth: Sooooo I have frantically been searching for flights out of Philly (and have gotten fab advice from all that took the time to answer my first post - Sidestep is a great program) but because its NJ teacher convention everyone seems to be heading to the world.. I got CBR for $106 nite... I can fly SW into Jacksonville, FL (a 2 1/2 hr drive down 95) for $118.00 and a rental car for $150.00 through budget (:bounce: a big thankyou to Mousesavers:Pinkbounc ) Does this seem like a reasonable plan or just too much work for a few days at paradise?

Does this seem reasonable or am I just so mushy right now from trying to pull this together that I can't even think straight anymore. Any suggestions? Should I go ahead and book SW and drive aor play the waiting game and hope I don't get burned:crazy: ? Thnaks in advance again. YOu guys are all so smart - I figure if anyone can make sense of htis mess the gurus on the DIS can:hyper:

I would keep checking fares out of PHL --> MCO. Southwest has promotional fares that run from $49 (one way) to $99. I found a RT ticket for 11/1 - 11/3 for $147 on their website and the flight times were very good. That's $30 more than you would pay to fly into JAX but you'll be 2 hours closer to WDW!

Also, if you fly into MCO, you could forget about using the rental car and take a Mears bus instead ($17 one-way, $29 RT to CBR). That saves you $121 in ground transportation costs.

As it gets closer to your travel date, Disney will probably announce more room discounts. The rate of $106/night isn't bad for CBR but the September rates are lower ($85/night plus tax). I'm sure that something comparable will come out as November nears.

I don't think that it's too much work but I would look at the cost/time benefits. Only you would know if it's worth spend that amount for a couple of days in WDW.

Do you think I have any chance of getting airfare out of philly at htis point that won't be an arm and a leg? Should I wait and roll the dice? When did you book your airfare? I'm so happy you got such a great rate!! Fingers crossed - hopefully I'll get the same..b

Have you checked the rates going into Tampa. We almost never fly into MCO. It's cheaper to go to Tampa, the rental is also cheaper. It only takes a little less than an hr.
Have a great trip.

I checked Southwest's website today. There were a lot of flights to choose from at the $49-$99 promotional rate for 11/1 - 11/3. Finding good airfare is a funny game.

Sometimes you can get a great rate for your dates 14 days out and then there are other times that you can't find anything that doesn't make you do crazy routes to get from Point A to Point B. The key is to keep looking until you find a rate and flights that you can live with. When you do, book them immediately. Good luck!
