Our family has been struggling for a several months now on wether to buy DVC or not.
We would like to go to Disney every 2 years, and have outgrown hotel rooms.
We always stay at high end properties.
As I put all the math together, it seems a whole lot cheaper to me to just rent the points I want every 2 years, versus buying points and having to pay maintence fees yearly.
So why ever buy points when can just rent them?
I know I must be missing some logic here.
Please help!
I am a DVC member who could ALWAYS find a deal...but I bout in for the following reason. My husband owns a business and works very hard. We have two children and would like to vacation every winter. If we did not OWN the points which HAD to be paid and used, he would always come up with a reason to put off a getaway for another month, season, year...you get the idea. For us, it was a fair price and a psychological commitment for family time. If you are sure you will go away every two years no matter what, then don't consider this, but for us it's made it a family tradition. I can see my children bring their children for quality time with Ganny in years to come.
