DOes this make sense?

I have a friend who had a conferance out of town and she said she had her bathing suit-for the indoor hotel pool, but she decided not to go in it because the pool was surrounded by glass, so someone could sit there and watch her. Um, if you go to a pool or the beach, someone will see you.

Does that make any sense at all?

No sense at all, but I tend to go with my instincts, even when they make no sense.

Itis strange because when you are in public anyone can be watching you, but maybe the thought that someone could be watching her but she wouldn't KNOW that they were watching, because technically she is inside where someone outside shouldn't be able to watch, was giving her the willies a bit.

Not an instinct thing, she is just a bit paranoid. LIke, she won't sit on the living room because she is afraid a drive by will take place and get her house instead,um even the crime can happen anywhere, the people on our street are older with no teenagers.

and she believes women shouldn't stay in hotels by themselves and she isnt "allowed " to travel by herself or with her DD8.

yes, but she said that and I was like, I know I had a rough day with throbbing headache, but that made no sense at all.

well,then if she is that paranoid why did she even take her suit at all?

The only thing I get weirded out about at home is looking at a window at night, I'm always afraid someone will be standing there looking in..too many horror movies in my younger days.

I think she took the bathing suit thinking the indoor pool would be more "enclosed" if you will. But a lot of indoor pools usually have windows around them.

I take my DD10 every year on vacation, usually to WDW or DCL or both, last year we went to Hawaii. I am a single mom and I want to show my DD that life is out there to grab and enjoy.

She would not have made it at The Great Wolf Lodge , I think if she felt like something was off even just a little she was right not swim .

I get that " someone is watching me " thing every once in a great while and it is a really creepy feeling

I so can relate to the friend. Swimming in a hotel pool is fine if I am by myself or with family/friends. Swimming in a hotel pool with business collegues would be odd for me too.

In my first job right out of college, I was at a hotel during the week during a month-long training. I went swimming most nights. UNTIL the big fat drunk guy was in the pool. Yikes he wasn't wearing swimming trunks he was wearing boxers. Like the kind my dad wore, that were paper thin, and about sheer as sheer can be when they were wet. And, with the flap thingy on the boxers...well let me just say, I saw more than I cared to. Needless to say, I never swam again when I was out of town on business. NEVER.

Makes no sense to me. I sit in my living room, stay in hotels by myself, travel for business (but usually don't have time on those trips to use the pool), took my niece to DisneyWorld by ourselves. Just normal precautions like being aware of what's around you and locking your doors.

I don't think going for a swim is all that wonderful. If it's going to make you uncomfortable, forget it.

Every single time my DD (adult) uses an indoor swimming pool in a hotel she ends up with a severe UTI.. After her last one, the urologist told her not to use indoor pools (or "community" hot tubs and such) in hotels as they are a breeding ground for germs..

She said she would have been the only one out of her group that had a bathing suit, but other peopel were in the pool.
I think she would have felt comfortable if one of her friend workers was in there with her.

SHe isn't the type that could do things alone.

It sounds weird but I know what she means. I haven't worn a bathing suit since I was like eight. It just makes me self conscious. But if I know there will be less people there or that people won't see me then I would be more to go swimming

I misread the original post and thought it was a glass pool!

I think it makes perfect sense. I would take a suit, but if the pool was either too public or too private for me I'd simply skip swimming. Too private would be in a basement with no one else around - that would give me the creeps. Too public would be in full view of the lobby or restaurant where I knew fully clothed business associates would be walking by.

Most hotel pools are in between the two and it's no big deal.

No.
