does this happen to you.......or is it just me..

Ah, yes. Gotta love the drama! It's like politics and religion being no-no's to talk about around family members...here it's drink mugs, ECV's, and strollers! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

To answer the origional question...no, I don't think it is you. :goodvibes Try not to worry about it. Just know where the drama typically is, and try to stay away from it.

Don't worry about it people on some of the other boards like the community board are really fake and wouldn't say most of what they post to your face.
The community board attracts the craziest people.
I do go on the community board its a good place to get a good LOL.

I would imagine that some people feel this way about the podcast board.

Not everyone wants pixie dust. Some people enjoy discussing different sides of an issue and while most are courteous there are a few who are unable to politely and intelligently state a position. Many people look for an opportunity to be offended.

There is diffrent kinds of crazy
The community board is more of a crazy crazy
The podcast board is a more of a fun party type crazy.

I guess I'm just oblivious because I post all over the place and don't find any one board crazier than any other.

I know people say that this board or that board is "clique-ish" but I don't take a lot of stock in that either. Sure, some folks know each other really well and there are inside jokes because they've been posting together for years--but that doesn't mean that new folks aren't welcome.

Every one is a little crazy.

The key is to find people who are crazy like you are.

Every Norm needs a Cliff.

And the Grandaddies of them all....

"Instead of enjoying my vacation, I spent my time at WDW checking
the ages of all the children in strollers."

and

"I am a medical savant with special powers and can tell just by glancing
at someone whether or not they really need a wheelchair/ECV."

And don't forget the ever-popular-sure to start a huge fight: "Is it ok to pass my 3 year old off as a 2 year old so I don't have to buy them admission?" Love it when someone new brings that up,just grab the popcorn, sit back and watch the sparks fly.

But yeah, people are going to be snarky sometimes, I see it on the boards too. It's a bummer but just ignore their comments because when you reply to them you're just giving them what they want. On the whole, most folks here are nice and do their best to answer questions and respond with respect.

Ah, seems like a good time to post the latest version:

I am developing the "Unified DISboards Field Theory", the first law of which states that no matter how peripheral and well intentioned an initial discussion thread is, gravity will dictate that it will fall into one of several "gravity wells" of unending, unwinnable, and epic debate until it crosses the event horizon of the tolerance of a moderator within 5 pages.

Most all such gravity wells revolved around "rules", "policies", or "procedures" and the debates are usually about whether they are "strong forces" or "weak forces" (physics geeks will likely laugh louder about that).

Some of the most well known gravity wells include "late" Fastpass usage, refillable mugs, and pool hopping. And the "black hole" of the DISboards would be any discussion regarding Brazilian Pop Warner Cheerleaders using late Fastpasses while refilling their year old mugs while riding ECVs over other guests' feet.

Like a Disboard's version of Godwins law? Interesting!

I had that happen to me on the Community Board. The "coconut" thing.

What does the coconut thing even mean? :confused3

Sometimes you will meet people desperate for a fight, sometimes you won't... it's like buses, you won't see one for ages then all three come at once!

and god forbid you say something the DVC owners do not like.

I was going to make some Snarky Comment about stereotyping us DVC owners but I missed post 5 already so I'll let it slide this time.

But I'm watching you. Always Watching.

The OP of a thread posted comments attributed to themselves, when it was actually comments from an online article. When others made comments suggesting quoting a source (myself included), we did so in a nice way. The OP sounded like a kid who didn't have the maturity to say, "That makes sense, live and learn." Instead, he or she had to get on the defensive, turning around and making us look like we were horrible people for "attacking" him/her.

Such is life online. It's easier to be mean and nasty when you're hiding behind the anonymity of a keyboard than it is to be mean and nasty to someone's face. That's the way it's always been and will continue to be.

i most likely should not do what i am about to do but it is way too ironic.......................i am actually the person BriarRosie is talking about. i posted something about a new movie coming out and made a statement that another poster grabbed onto and implied that there could be racist implications.............i came back on and said in essence, dont blame me, that was a paraphrase from the LA Times....blame them. what happened next took the thread way off topic. rather than backing off wether i should or should not have made the comment, that poster chose to take the thread in the direction of, you should have told us right out front that it was from the LA Times. apparently as far as he/she was concerned it would have made a difference in his response to me. i was perplexed, either it was racist or it wasnt, shouldnt matter who said it. now we all know that we all say stuff that comes from somewhere else and that it would take up a lot of space if we all were like, according to william shakespeare, or i will now quote bill clinton, etc. or maybe not, maybe its a good idea. i am not saying that i was right and he/she was wrong. i have always found that the truth lies somewhere in the middle...........i did not quote a source......so shoot me.........well this got kinda ugly and at one point BriarRosie got involved and agreed with my antagonist......fine. so anyway the fellow/lady who was my accuser has a way of ending his/her post with...........could i interest you in a coconut? i cannot name my source here because i forget the board name for the person i am quoting....................sorry....................EDIT with a PS........one thing i feel bad about is that at one point i did suggest a very good place where he/she might consider putting the coconut.

oh...........it was those OTHER dvc owners.................you know the ones........:rotfl2: but of course you are right...anything that is said has the possiblity of offending any single person or group.
