Sometimes while I'm out walking (for exercise), my fingers feel very swollen and they look like they are retaining water or something. They get really chubby looking. Then when I get back home, they are fine again. Does this ever happen to you & do you know why? If so, let me know, I'm curious. :-)

Thanks!

This is quite normal - a phenomenon called 'sausage fingers'!

Gravity is pushing your blood through to your extremities - ie your fingers if your arms are by your sides. Be careful if you have a tight wedding ring! Consider walking with your arms higher - a bit like you would run!

This happens to me almost all the time. When I notice the fingers swelling I try to swing them higher and bend my fingers into fists and then stretch them. This helps the fluid flow back out of the fingers and the swelling seems to go down alot.
I tend to retain water anyhow and sometime have to elevate my feet when I get home from my longer walks. Peggie

It's because your hands are down. This happens to me if I spend a lot of time walking around. Gravity plays tricks on us :)

LOL -- I guess it's a reminder that I am suppose to be walking with my arms higher!!! I try to walk the *proper* way, but I guess sometimes I start thinking about other things and forget to do it properly. Now when my fingers start doing this, I'll remember what I was told and get those arms up and swinging!! ;)
