Does this cruise exist?

My coworker is a huge Disney fan, especially the cruises. He says he has been on 10+ Disney cruises and was giving us the pros and cons of various ships, time of year, etc. However, he said one thing that surprised me, and I couldn’t find anything about this via google, looking on the Disney cruise site, etc. He said that once a year, Disney does a cruise that is “adults only” as in no children at all on the ship. Is this really a thing? He says he was on this particular cruise.

There are some itineraries that are invite only but I've never heard of it being adult only.

Some longer itineraries while school is in session (like transatlantic crossings) tend to skew towards nearly all adult passengers, but that's unintentional.

I thought that there have been chartered cruises that are adults only--the TCM one comes to mind. (Turner Classic Movies) I believe that TCM is done doing DCL cruises though.

A charter could be adults only, but I've never heard of a DCL cruise offered to the public that doesn't include kids.

When we were on the Panama Canal cruise several years ago there were 400 fewer kids than average -- because of the length and it wasn't a school holiday -- but there were still more kids on that cruise than on the average cruise on another line during the summer.

When the TCM cruises were on the Magic, the number of kids would struggle to get into double digits. That's the closest I've ever seen a cruise be 'kid free'.

Probably feel that they've gotten enough coverage with that venue. Maybe for just time being. Or maybe permanently. Who knows?

In February while at WDW we were told the TMC contracts were expiring and Disney was not going to renew its partnership and therefore the Great Movie Ride is getting a redu.

Did they do a redo when TCM came onboard? The Great Movie Ride was there before the TCM connection.

Why is TCM done with DCL?

I just looked for info online and found an article in the-Orlando Sentinel from September 7, 2016:
"As TCM continues to grow and evolve, we will look to explore new business opportunities in markets across the country that will allow us to connect and engage with our fans in new and different ways," said a spokesperson at Turner Classic Movies.

TCM has done 6 cruises, first 2 with Celebrity, final 4 with Disney--3 on the Magic and the last one on the Fantasy.

Did they do a redo when TCM came onboard? The Great Movie Ride was there before the TCM connection.

The narration for the ride changed and they updated the movies at the end. That was it.

I sure would have loved that TCM cruise as I love classic movies.

It's weird because i have friends or family who say that ship must be
over run with kids. I don't know if i'm blind or oblivious but i hardly notice.

Plus they are so cute with their princess and pirate costumes etc.

I always wondered if That Turner cruise had many families on it.

I'm thinking - not so much. The price was higher than even DCL charges, and the entertainment/lecturers were not Disney shows/talks.

Lots of TCM-invited actors/directors/etc for interview-type shows in the theaters. Lots of old movies, not so much Disney ones.

Done as in finished? Or done as in using DCL?

Done for the first part is the contract is up next year so TCM is probably going to find a new line for.next year. For the second it was probably part of the sponsor ship.of TGMR.

Lots of specialty charter cruises charge a premium for the guests and entertainment. I'm booked on an upcoming 4-night comedy cruise charted on NCL, a line typically priced cheaper than DCL, but my cruise is costing me more than a dream sailing in the same time period.
