saving a table, i dont let my dw or dd save a table at a counter service restaurant while i'm in line when its busy. i was in the restaurant business for a while and we would not let that happen because people with trays would stand and look for a place to sit while others were sitting waiting for their family to get through the line. it just holds things up. i actually asked a woman to vacate a table in the animal kingdom so we could sit down to eat our pizza because of this. was i wrong?

Yes, you are WRONG. It was very rude of you to ask the woman to vacate the table. :sad2: I would have NEVER gotten up for you. I've never been to a counter service restaurant/food court where people didn't save tables.

I think what you did was quite rude. You obviously "killed" the magic for the people you asked to move, reminding them that even at the happiest place on earth, impoliteness abounds!

if i am in line to get my food and my DH is holding the table
then theres nothing wrong with that

Geez folks... ever heard of piling on? Step back and breathe everyone. The crowd has spoken. Extinguish the torches. I think the mass disapproval has been made clear.

Maybe you should avoid counter service restaurants alltogether and just go for the table service restaurant, that way you'll won't have a problem getting a table and seat. And, you won't have to bother anyone with your rudeness.

you asked if i would have asked a linebacker to move. i would have asked the same question and that person could always say no.

My concern here is that if I had my kids saving the table, would you have asked them to move? My guess and my hope is that you would not have. My kids have been brought up to respect adults and they would have moved, but my wife and I would be fuming and someone would hear about it.

That said, I understand how you feel, I hate it when I go to the pool and all the seats are reserved with stuff or a towel on them, but no one is around, and I can't find a place to sit. I have even heard rumors of people going out in the morning to save seats at the pool and that makes me mad. But do I do anything about it? No, I just keep looking for another seat. So while I understand you sentiment, I can't say that I agree.

How many of us will remember this next time we are at a counter service and go to save the table? I bet I get a chuckle out of it then.

hi guys, posted this last nite, made a couple replys, went to bed, thought it was over, just asked a question and for my trouble i have been called everything but a human being in the last 18 hrs, i mean come on, a sociopath???? and you think i should be ashamed of MY SELF?? i asked the lady if she would mind, her husband was at the back of a 20 minute line, she said it was ok. and you people want to shoot me. you asked if i would have asked a linebacker to move. i would have asked the same question and that person could always say no, i doubt many of you would have the guts to say these absurd things to my face. im not talking about those of you who just disagreed with my opinion, thats why i asked, im talking to the mean spirited people who surf these boards and are always ready to ply their trade and say something ignorant just to belittle someone else.
I agree agree that name calling such as "sociopath" is just as wrong. I also think berating someone such as saying over and over again how one should be ashamed of themselves is pretty demeaning. However, such as the life of the Disboards....seems like when a "controversial" subject is brought up, there are pouncers everywhere. That's especially true when you post a controversial matter and then say "was I wrong?" My advice would always be to proceed with caution when asking that kind of question on here.

My Mom uses a wheelchair in the parks. I can not push her AND carry a tray of food, wouldn't it be just plain silly to not park her at a table while I go to get food? And if you asked her to move, once parked at a suitable table, YOU would be extremely rude. Not to mention that it would be a pointless request, since the answer would definately be "No!"

Especialy considering that not all the tables in counter service areas are easily accessible to wheelchairs.

Ok folks, I'm getting a work out deleting remarks here. I think this thread has run it's course and it's time to close it. In the future please remember personal attacks, and circumventing the word filter are NOT allowed on the Dis.
