Does thinking about your trip make you totally emotional?

Oh man, I am a big ball of mess before my trips to Disney. I am constantly on the DIS boards, listening to Live365, and love watching my taped shows about WDW. Everytime I do all of this, I always have tears in my eyes and get so giddy about everything. I am so thankful that I am not driving my family nuts with all of my craziness, because they understand and they too can't wait for our trips (they just don't show it like I do).

When I read this I thought I wrote it! Until I got the kids part (don't have any). I can only imagine what I'll be like when I do have kids and bring them for the first time. I can't wait until next year when I get to tag along with my best friend and her 3 little ones on their first trip! Last fall I sent them postcards from the princesses and that opened up a BIG can of worms! Her 5 year old had lots of questions about it. The 4 year old wasn't surprised at all that Ariel would send her a postcard (she is a little princess herself, after all!). I get emotional every time they ask me about the castle they live in. I'm such a sap! Love it!

This is my favorite start to our trip. We always start at MK and get there early to see the little opening number before rope drop. When the music starts to play and the train pulls in with Mickey Mouse, it gets me every time! I LOVE IT!
Glad to know I'm not the only silly teary DW fan out there!

I lose it during this show! Thank goodness for sunglasses! Hide's the tears!:sad1:

The beginning of Fantasmic! gives me goosebumps and a big smile every time I hear it on Live365 or DISradio.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only Disney sap around here!!

We still haven't told our kids. I think we are going to tell them the morning we leave. Like when they get up I'll be like "Hey, you guys want to go on vacation today?" and then we'll let them "decide" where to go. I know they will say Disney eventually and we'll make excuses for whatever else they ask for. It should be awesome. I totally can't wait!!

I get choked up reading the disboards, watching YouTube, looking at past trip photos, planning, and definitely being there - all things Disney get to me.
We surprised our kids with their first trip last year, and like a pp said, was a bit disappointed at their reaction. They were happy to be going on a vacation, but didn't know what to expect, so they weren't nearly as excited as I was. But now, they can't wait to go back!

I'm gonna sound like such a wuss... whenever I plan a WDW vacation, and I'm anticipating the trip, I of course watch clips of shows at the parks and rides and listen to Disney music... and EVERY time I watch Illuminations and Fantasmic, without fail, I cry. It just gets me soooooo excited and it hits me every time that I'm actually returning to WDW!!! I love it:goodvibes

May I join you in the wuss section? Wishes reduces me to tears as do Disney commercials, the Mickey Ears road signs and Main Street in the MK. I'm at my blubbering best when MK closes and Mickey comes out to wave and say good night. The sight of the wee ones waving back because they absolutely know that Mickey is talking just to them leads to serious tear streaming.
We drive down and the seat bouncing begins on I-95. I'm pretty much out of control once we hit I-4. Oddly, I'm no longer allowed to drive once we get on I-4.:)

I get way more excited about our trip than anyone in my family! Sometimes I think they all go just to humor me!:rotfl: (Although my daughter is quickly joining me in the obsession! She can't hear "When you wish upon a star" without crying!)

Aww....:lovestruc Yes, I do tend to me extra sensitive! :) I care deeply and love doing little things to brighten someone's day! Like you, we are surprising our DS this trip and every time I think about the look on his face, I get butterflies! He thinks we're going NEXT YEAR during the Flower & Garden Festival since we said this would be the next time we would return. He has absolutely no idea we've had the trip planned since December and will be leaving in about 26 days! I have not talked about this trip as much as the others and have been very selective with whom I've shared it with so the info would not get back to him. I'm praying we make it! We plan to pick him up at school early (so he gets credit for being there all day) and just the fact that we're both picking him up will be a surprise. Then once he's in the car, I'll start filming and tell him we're headed to the airport and going to DISNEY!! :rotfl2:

Disney is all about making special memories and we constantly talk about our Disney moments and trips. The memories and the experiences are priceless! :lovestruc

Have fun! It looks like you're going in May, right?

I sometimes cry while watching the Disney planner DVDs. And I get teary as soon as the video starts playing on The Magical Express. LOL. So I know what you mean. But they're tears of joy so they're okay.

Nancyprincess:

:lmao: the Disney planner DVDs!!!! thought i was the only one!

:lmao: the Disney planner DVDs!!!! thought i was the only one!

I watch mine secretly when DBF isn't home! I'll just play the main show over and over and over again... even if it's just on in the background while I'm cleaning or working on the computer. Then occasionally I ask DBF if we can watch the DVD while we're eating dinner that night to get us excited. I'd say he's clueless but, in all honesty, I think he knows what I'm up to. I've been busted when he goes to put in a movie and finds it in the player. :rolleyes1

You are all so wonderful.
I feel like I have found family LOL!

I keep reading these and thinking, Hay that what I said. : )

My family "thought" I was totally nut. though truth be told there are JUST as nutty, but I'm the one who shows it.

Once I introduced them to you all and live365.... they dont look at me quite so worried about my sanity : )

The DVD the music, when tink flies over the castle at the begging of Disney movies all of it...

all i can do is smile & then get teary-eyed when thinking about our trip too!!! OMG! i LOVE going to disney!!!!

I would never admit it to my family...but every time I picture my DD (2 yrs) seeing that castle or meeting Cinderella I nearly lose it. And yes, that damn DVD - didn't help in planning AT ALL...but sure turned on the water works. We spent our honeymoon in Disney 5 years ago...and now it's our 5 year anniversary and we're bringing DD for the first time. ::Sniffle:::love:

I feel the same way. I tear up when I listen to live365.com and the song from SpectroMagic comes on or a Lion King song. And just thinking about landing at the Orlando airport makes me happy :yay:

I LOL'd when I read this!

I do the same with Live356.com! :rotfl: I play it at work a lot to get a Disney feeling even when I'm at work. I get super-lumps in my throat with those songs and park background music.

I teared up for a year planning my daughter's first visit and I tear up going over the pics now and then and reading posts here on DISboards that remind me of our trip. I don't tear up about our booked DCL trip for next year.....I don't know why. Maybe it's just a WDW thing?? Maybe it's just because I can't properly picture it?? The atmosphere won't be the same as the parks and even though it's a year away, I'm planning our next WDW trip instead of getting excited about the ship etc. I mean, look, I'm haunting THIS thread on this section of the boards! WDW and thinking about being there is what makes me tear-up. I loved watching her little face light up on our last trip and I'm waiting for that again.

PS - Thank-you for this feeling, Walt.

Not necessarily tears, though I have gotten the lump in my throat and teary eyed when we see Magic Kingdom entrance and walk through! This year, my college daughter graduates with her BSN May 8...and for her gift? She wants to make a mom/daughter trip out of it, with just me (dmom), herself and surprise her 10 yr old sister...Isn't that sweet or what? When we asked her what she wanted, she originally wanted the whole family to go, but since my dh wasn't sure he could get off, she asked if she could surprise her sister! I always do a countdown calendar when we come, but she said "No way"..She said she wants to see her sister "See Disney" through her eyes before she gets too old, and see her surprised. So I imagine on May 22 of this year, that morning at the airport when we tell the 10yr old that just mom, college dd, and herself are going to Disney....there will be much emotion!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay:

May 22-27 CBR First Mom/daughter trip
Celebrating college daughters graduation

Wow I am so glad I found this thread :lmao:I thought I was the only 1 who had tissues in their purse when arriving @ the airport lol....this is our first ever mother/daughter trip so I am sooooo excited about how fun it is going to be!!
I tear up as soon as I see the castle...they are tears of joy though for sure!!
The memories are just amazing & this year for the first time ever my 17 y/o son
is not joining us :sad1:he is saving his money for a bigger street bike :sad2:
they just grow up so fast when he said he did not want to go I cried...I still cry
when I think that he is not going cause he is growing up & wants to do his own
thing....but I have all those memories from 2004 with him going :yay: Next year
for his graduation we are going to Cozumel so no Disney next year :sad2:

Thanks for sharing all your stories!!! They brought tears to my eyes just reading
them knowing that there are tons of us out there :grouphug:

Seems like the ladies corner the market on emotional Disney crying. Regardless, count me in.

I am TOTALLY right there with you!!!

Now I gotta find that thread so I can read about the surprises too (we're surprising ODD)

Oh me too!!!! I  Disney and espiecially Mickey! (Kenny, my hubby, says he has to share me with Disney. LOL.)

I cry during the planning videos, after I've made my booking, when I see the gates of Disney, the fireworks, etc. I'm just a blubbering mess. LOL. I never got to go when I was a child, so I make up for it now! :yay:

I totally get emotional ...Disney is as close to perfect as it gets. Thank you Walt so much for your dream and vision .

I'm a blubbering mess sometimes when I think of Disney. I just got my 2011 DVC planner and I cried looking at it. DH thought I was just a big dork until I told him what it all meant to me.Until 2008 we never had a family vacation. Before that we just didn't have the time or money. Now that our business is doing well financially we just had to find time and with 3 kids that are busy with sports that became hard. We figured it out. Now I have a week with my DH and my children with no phones ringing, no practices to run to, no games to go to, and no extended family drama. WDW has become my happy place and just thinking about being there puts a huge smile on my face.

I've already warned my friend that he's going to see me cry at least 3 times while we're there (probably during Wishes, Spectromagic and Illuminations - but there's room for more!).

I cry watching those anyway, but this trip is going to be particularly special for us (or me at least!) because:
1) it's the first time I'll be going to WDW with someone other than my parents
and
2) it's going to be the very end of one of the most amazing (academic) years of my life - I've been studying abroad in Colorado for the year, and our WDW trip is literally the last thing I'm going to do before I fly home. So bittersweet.
