Does the water taste bad from sinks at the resorts?

I am thinking about bringing some powdered drink mixes and mugs to have for the room if the water doesn't taste bad. We are not big soda drinkers.

I'll use it to rinse my mouth out after brushing my teeth, but that's about it.

We buy lots of bottled water while we are there. I also have a Brita sports bottle with the filter for making my coffee. You might want to do that, or use bottled water. I can't tolerate the water at WDW.

I noticed that the tap water at the Poly had a sulferous smell so I tried to avoid drinking it.

The water is awful all over WDW. I carry a Brita sports filter bottle and that solves the problem, though. Bottled water if I forgot the filter bottle - WDW water actually makes my stomach hurt if I drink it straight.....

The water stinks all over Orlando, actually all over Florida!!

It used to be quite a bit worse than it is now.

That being said, it's still pretty bad.

ACtually my ater at home tastes like I am drinking a mud puddle- i only drink bottled water....the water fountain at Thunder Mt tastes like Sulfur, but I was shocked that the water from the sink at the Beach Club did not have that. I was dying one night after the concierge was closed and drank some and it actually tasted fine.

A lot of that depends on whether the room has been redone in the last year or so. New codes in Orlando require water filtration systems be put in place during new construction or remodeling. If the resort has been remodeled, it will have the filtration system in place. I used to think the water was terrible at most of the restaurants and resorts in Orlando. I know find the water not bad.

Its not horrible but if I had my choice I would drink bottled water. I use it for brushing my teeth so its not that bad, But I usually bring bottles because I like to take them to the parks. And really it all depend on your taste preference, It may not bother you like it does other people.

We drink bottled spring water at home, in fact I have a water cooler in my kitchen and get spring water delivered every month.

Having said that, I didn't think there was a bad smell from the water at the Polynesian, and it was fine for brushing teeth and showering. Personally I wouldn't drink the tap water, but that's because I don't drink tap water at home either.

The ice water served in the restaurants are tap water and the few sips I had tasted fine. If you're going to add powdered drink mix to it, I think it'd probably taste fine. :)

Interesting. I wonder if the sulferous smell is something unique to the longhouse that I stayed in (Tokelau)? It was definitely a strong smell when I stayed at the Poly in September. I recall reading posts from other guests at the Poly who experienced the same smell in their tap water. I joked with my bf and told him that it was all part of the theming and that the water was designed to smell like a volcano!

Hmm...guess that explains why the water we were served in 'Ohana reminded me of Splash Mountain...and not in a good way. This was in late October.

I had heard about the horrible water, so I came prepared with lots of water bottles, etc.

Actually, I didn't find it bad at all. We were in Pt. Orleans French Quarter. We got ice water with meals at the parks and ice water out of the soda machine at POFQ, and I drank out of the sink. I didn't notice it being bad at all.

Maybe we just have such terrible water in CA that I'm immune to it! :goodvibes

The water from the sink at Pop had that "Florida tap water" smell. I only brushed my teeth with it.

Where I really noticed the nasty taste was in the ICE from the CS places in the parks. If I was carrying a fountain drink around and the ice was melting it smelled and tasted like the water in the toilets smells. :crazy2: It ruined the taste of the soda. After I realized what was happening I made a serious effort to find BOTTLED soda.

We did have a Brita bottle with us and it helped the water tremendously. I would not drink straight tap water. YUCK!

I totally agree! To me, Florida water just has a nasty taste to it. We are fortunate enough to drive so we bring gallons of water and bottled water with us. If I didn't have that option, I would have it delivered!!! :earsgirl:

Thanks for the replies! I have a 2 Q brita filter. I will pack that and see how it works out - will be lighter than bringing some bottled water on the plane!
