does the villa really include EVERYTHING we will need?

We have 4 one bedroom villas booked at SSR for August. We're planning to use garden grocer or wego shop for groceries and will likely eat only breakfast in the room. Does the villa come stocked with everything we will need to cook breakfast? Are there paper plates or real dishes? Is there anything we need to consider bringing with us? We are not coffee drinkers, btw.

Thanks!

Yes, the villas all have cookware, toasters and microwaves. The dishes are real (in one bedroom and larger villas) , as are the glasses. Bring salt and pepper if you will need them for breakfast. I assume you are bringing or ordering in your groceries?

Don't forget butter, cooking oil, salt/pepper, foil, storage bags/wrap, etc.

There really is no need to buy any of those things. You should have a small bottle of dish soap, several packets of dishwasher detergent and a full roll of paper towels...usually with a back-up under the sink. If you need more of anything Housekeeping will be glad to bring it to you.

:thumbsup2 They'll bring extra? How did I not know that? I'm so excited!

When we asked for more detergent they charged us for it. I think it was like $1 per pack or something, but still. We brought our own the next trip.

Bring washer/dryer sheets. You get 1 box of Tide. We use the all in 1 sheets and fit 10 or so in a large plastic bag. We also bring about 1/2 dozen tabs (all in 1 dishwasher soaps). They both easily fit in the suit case.

Also we bring zip bags of a # of sizes, and a couple of grocery bags of paper and plastic.. Some how we always need them. Stopping by the grocery store you will have them and can just save them. :)

I think they do a fantastic job of over stocking the kitchen.

To clarify on the "detergent" issue:

Detergent for the washing machine: you get one small box which can be used for one load of laundry. If you need more, you have to pay for it.

Detergent for the dish washer: if you need more, call Mousekeeping and they should bring you more for free.

Liquid dish soap for hand washing dishes: if you need more, call Mousekeeping and they should bring you more for free.

My theory is: when you check out, if you haven't washed the dishes, Mousekeeping is stuck dealing with them. So it makes sense for them to give you the supplies you need to wash those dishes for them. But if you have dirty laundry, that's your problem to deal with when you get home.

If you run out of tissues, toilet paper, paper towels or trash bags: Mousekeeping should bring you more of those for free as well. (When you pull the full trash bag out of the trash can, there should be unused trash bags at the bottom of the can.)

Perhaps VGC is different from the others but they charged us $1 per pack of extra dishwashing detergent. For a 5 night stay they had left us 2 packs, and we like to run dishes every night so they're all clean when we get up in the morning. The following year we brought our own Cascade packs. Or maybe Mousekeeping is just inconsistent?

Did not ask for the liquid dish soap and we always bring our own liquid laundry detergent as we prefer our own brand/type so we have not requested more laundry detergent boxes.

No, it doesn't have everything you need. But most of it. Consider bringing (or adding some of the items to your grocery order): a variety of ziplock bags, chip clips, coffee filters and coffee, creamer, sugar, any spices you'll need for cooking including salt and pepper (although they have small ones for sale at the resort market), pam spray, sheets of aluminum foil, laundry detergent and softener (sheets) or the Purex 3 'n 1 sheets. If you have lots of kids in the villas I would some plastic cups and bring a permanent marker to write their names on the cup. Because the kids will be traveling around the villas so you'll need cups for all the kids in each villa. Or it could be that they all will hang out in one villa. That happened with our gathering in June. Or it might have been because we had more food and drinks than the other villas did. :rotfl:

These items are available on request:

Bed Rails
Blankets
Blender
Decaf Coffee
Hangers
Mixer
Pillows
Tea Kettle
Voltage Converter

And you can get wine glasses and a cork screw too.

Thank you, thank you! :thumbsup2 When I call MS I'm going to clarify. :thumbsup2

You get bed rails and extra pillows for free? or is there a rent fee?

You get bed rails and extra pillows for free? or is there a rent fee?

Last year in a BCV one-bedroom, there was a list inside one of the kitchen cupboards showing what was supposed to be in the villa. It said bed rails and pillows were available upon request. I've never requested them personally. I would assume that they are free, because they are not on the list of things you can pay for. However, there is a limit to the number of people who are allowed to stay in the room. If you ask for too many pillows, I would think that they might not provide them.

Pay As You Play

With Pay As You Play service, you'll be provided with the following amenities free of charge at the start of your stay. After that, you may purchase more for the following fees:

Toiletries Package, $5.00 - 1 facial soap, 1 bath soap, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 shower gel
Coffee Package, $3.00 - 1 package of coffee, 8 sugars, 8 creamers, 8 artificial sweeteners
Towel Package, $6.00 - 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 4 washcloths, 1 bath mat
Laundry Detergent (only in One-, Two-, and Three-bedroom Vacation Homes), $1.00 - 1 box

After the first few visits I have learned to remember to bring along: salt, pepper, sugar, and most definitely a PIZZA CUTTER as the knives provided are definitely substandard when it comes to cutting pizza. Otherwise, I find the kitchens are generally well equipped with the basics; nothing fancy, mind you, but adequate for general purposes. And the Purex laundry sheets are also a 'must have' for us!;)

We were at VGC for a week in January and were not charged for the extra dishwasher detergent we requested from Housekeeping.

One other item I have had to request with varying results is a pancake turner/spatula. Sometimes when I ask, I receive a slotted spoon! :confused3

I'm going to add one to my OL!
