Does the new system kill DVC value?

I might be over tired and angry about our guests not having tickets and being kicked t the end of the line but hear met out.

What happens going forward to 2021? Everyone else can make park reservations by buying a package starting next week. DVC members cannot reserve a room until 11 months therefore we cannot make park reservations for anytime in 2021 past May - will there be a park reservation of our choice available by the time we are eligible? What about at the 7 month window? Christmas time, EPCOT at F&W? We lost value!

Well, right now the system ends in September, 2021..so the holidays for 2021 will be okay at this point.

In all honesty, I think 2021 won’t be an issue. By next year,, capacity should be back to normal and the reservations will be a formality.

So, as of June 24th, when tickets get sold for 2021, DVC will be booking up to May 24th check in. I see no reason that they won’t be back to full capacity by then.

I do not see us as disadvantaged at all...at least not yet...

I hope not. We have a major trip planed for August - cancelled from this year. It pains me to know people will be booking park reservations this week but I cannot because I cannot book my DVC reservation. We're already gettering screwed this year because our guests don't have tickets. Now next year our other guests might not be able to get into the parks either. DVC will be worth less than cheap Motel 6 in Kissimee.

I just had a thought...do we know for sure that 2021 bookings will require a resort reservation if made after June 28th, when it opens for existing ticket holders?

Right now, you only need a resort reservation and tickets for the initial days...but not later on,

So, it would seem that anyone can buy 2021 tickets later this month and reserve August 2021...even before securing a room..

I have an extra ticket in my account...from years ago so not date based,,so I will try on June 29th and see if it lets me!

I think the whole system is in flux and will continue to change and things with the virus changes.
I think its really too early to guess what will happen in 2021.
I think once we have a vaccine, the world will change.

It has been a long time since I read my agreement, but...I do believe that the parks being open or park access is not a guarantee of your contract.

This will pass. If you own DVC you are in it for the long haul. True, I would have never ever imagined this happening and I am not real disappointed I don't own DVC right now. But I know that in the long run it should get better.

27 years so far but I am really disappointed right now

Disney makes a ton of money off of selling DVC resorts, there is no way they are going to disadvantage those customers (and their profit) by making a permanent change that makes it hard for DVC owners to get into a park. People buy DVC because of the parks, without park access you might as well buy a $1 timeshare on ebay and Disney knows this.

I think what we are seeing now is just poor planning on Disney's part. I have faith in the product that things will work out eventually.

That's how I interpret the "rules". By the end of June you just need a ticket to book anytime up to the Sept 2021 date. And tickets will be on sale by that point. So no disadvantage to DVC not that I actually think parks will book up before the 11 month window anyway.

No, it does nothing to diminish the value of DVC.

I think it's ridiculous that they are doing park reservations for next year. 60 or 90 days would be reasonable. I think it is a disadvantage to DVC Members. On Sunday, people will be able to book room/ticket packages for 2021 and book their park reservations. We can only book up to May and only with tickets.

Glad you think that too, I think for this next 15 months, people need to simply have to adjust when they buy tickets.

I am hoping we see a change to the 60 day renewal window for APs as that was based on FP selection.

I understand the thoughts, and we are planning to go next August so can’t book until September at the earliest. I honestly don’t think park capacity will be an issue by next year (except for a few holidays) as they slowly start increasing capacity and the DPP system will either be scrapped or just a formality at that point.

I’m actually of the opinion that they will hopefully be offering DVC members some nice ticket incentives during 2021. Remember the $399 AP deal a few years back! I have a feeling there is going to be a fairly large sell off of DVC points with economic and travel concerns and Disney can’t risk their cash cow devaluing and also won’t be able to ROFR every resale contract. I predict once this initial wave of reopening and Covid issues pass that DVC members will see some pretty nice incentives and also would be good marketing with the 50th anniversary.

I too am a little concerned that for example, my planned July/ August 2021 trip is not bookable for 2 months- is it anyone with tickets booking up to September 2021 also has to have a resort reservation to make park bookings, or say if I have a 5 day ticket I can book any days up to September 2021 without a resort stay? If yes, this is seriously disadvantaging DVC owners with APs like myself- after yesterday's fiasco where we were left with only 3 days of park days (now resolved) I think we as a group were overlooked on this planning.

The resort reservation requirement is only for these initial 4 days....once we get to June 28th, all ticketed guests can book, including DVC, regardless of whether you have a reservation or not.

Valid ticket for your dates in 2021 is all that anyone will need!

I have an AP?

AP can book up to 3 days without resort reservations right now.

So, until that changes I guess yes, you’ll be locked into that may days until your reservation is there, but that doesn’t have to do with DVC but being an AP

A DVC owner who has a multi day ticket would be all set to book 2021 days, same as cash guest, prior to reserving.

We also have no idea when they will life the 3 day limit.

But no can do if we have no tickets, right? Since there is a hold on ticket sales, there is no way to reserve park time with or without a DVC reservation for June 2021. Do I understand that correctly?

Would it be an option to book a resort package with tickets, make Park reservations and then buy tickets that would be valid for our dates and cancel the resort package?
I am asking because I am waiting for my first DVC contract (currently in RoFR) and hoping to go for a few days in the first week of March with the extra points on our contract
Could this work? Or I could also buy tickets if they are available on the 28th, just not sure if ir will be the case!
