Does anyone know?

Or does it do anything that has to do with gravity that would induce nausea?

Thanks.

M:S is essentially a certrifuge which spins rapidly to simulate a blast-off.

I believe though that riders now have the option to sit in a simulator that does not spin, however, I don't think you feel anything. You just watch the video screens in front of you. Can anyone correct me/verify? It's been a year since we last went.

I was there last week....they have orange and green cards. The orange really spins and stuff and the green did nothing. We did the green first and then the orange. My boys liked the orange best they are 7 and 5.

From what I understand, the only thing that is different in the milder version is that there is no spinning. I believe your pod will still tilt to the side, forward, backward, etc to go along with the video you are watching. I'm not positive about this, so maybe someone else will come along who knows more.

DH and I did this. We both thought it spun in a circle slower. It did tilt and you do more then just sit there. The orange spins in a circle faster and also spins on it's axis. I believe the axis is what made most people sick.

Would you compare it with Star Tours?

More intense? Less intense?

Yes, this is what the milder version does. I rode it last week. I can not spin, I get too dizzy! We did tilt and move, but after it was done I said to my dh "that was it?" LOL!

It is much less movement than Star Tours! Which I also enjoy riding! :thumbsup2

I was there in Jan and with the spinning it is way more intense. You don't get nearly that feeling in star tours, though you do feel some G's for short times in star tours. I don't know what it is like without the spinning. I would think it would be fairly boring. For the record, my 5 year old went on Star Tours, but I would never put him on Mission Space (with the spinning). By the way, it doesn't feel like you are spinning. It feels like you are taking off and weightless for a minute also.

The feeling I got from MS is almost impossible to describe (I'm talking about the original MS, not the milder version). Somehow, it doesn't feel at all like spinning, even though that's what you're actually doing. It feels like blasting off and weightless gliding through space. That's why it can be...discombobulating? disorienting? Your body is sending your brain one message, but your eyes are telling your brain a different story. Totally cool, I don't quite get how it works, but I did feel "queasy" afterward. Not totally nauseated like I did after Star Tours.

HTH :confused3

The green team does rotate, so you are correct to think that it is going in a slower circle. The ride HAS to make 2 full rotations of the room or else the ride system will not function. Because the Green team does still tilt and does the forward, backward, side to side movements the ride has to rotate the room at least twice or it will be out of alignment. Think of it like on Honey I Shrunk the Audeince when they say make sure you put them back exactlly where they were or the doors won't line up. Of course that is nothing compared to the amount of rotations the Orange team makes, acting as a true centrifuge, during the ride.

Personally I am not a fan of the Orange team. I can't do those kinds of rides, Start Tours, Body Wars, Tea Cups, etc... I found the Green team to be GREAT. The only thing I was missing when I got off was the need for Immediate air to clear the naseau I was feeling. Because the Green team does still "go through the motions" I really enjoyed it... For someone who can handle the reagular ride I am sure it is boring, but for me, having sworn to never ride MS again, I was happy that there is an option because I think it is a cool concept.

Green DOES rotate? Oh hell with that, I'll stick with orange then, I only felt sick when that one was at it's slowest rotation points (stopping and starting spinning), so a slow spin would keep me sick the whole time. :lmao:

I was there in April and they didn't have the milder M:S. Does anyone know when they started this option? :confused3
