Does the haunted mansion at WDW hold anything to the one at the DR?

I've only ever ridden the haunted mansion at the Disneyland resort (the Paris one was sadly closed when I went). I have heard some complaints about the pirates ride at WDW, and how it is potentially inferior to the DR ride.
I like the exterior of the haunted mansion at WDW, but do wish it was in the New Orleans style, like the PO-FR resort. Is the WDW version better, worse, or just about similar to the DR version?

WDW has a fun set of MC Escher stairs early in the ride. Sadly only Disneyland has the Hatbox Ghost in the attic.

Also, DL's stretching room is actually an elevator :)

We found the HMs at both parks to be somewhat equivalent. We like some things better at DL and some things better at WDW. But the HM at DL at Halloween?? That's without a doubt one of our favorites, and WDW has no comparison.

I think the WDW one is better, unlike Pirates. the big difference is the stretch room moves up instead of down, and the loading area looks different. WDW has a couple of added scenes and no hatbox ghost.

If I recall correctly, DL has a longer walk from the stretching room to load (past changing portraits), to go under the train tracks. At WDW, you go right to load. The changing portraits are on the ride in WDW. WDW ride portion is longer.

I think the answer "there are subtle differences but not a lot." Yes - the two settings are different and that gives the two rides a different feel as you approach them. I think the stretching room at WDW is FAR superior. It's just so obvious what is happening at DL, it seems quaint. But otherwise - it's just not much different.

I think if you are debating about making the time to ride it at WDW if you are used to it at DL, I think the answer is yes.

I like the outside look better at DL but the rides themselves are a draw.

To me the WDW HM looks colonial. Disney Paris has the phantom manor in the frontierland and it is designed like a wild west wooden mansion. WDW HM façade doesnt really match the interior in my opinion, as unless you take into account native american ghosts or "ancient indian burial grounds" like Phantom Manor uses, it makes no sense. At least New Orleans in and of itself is a spiritual and spooky place so it matches more, in my opinion.

They are different but not enough to say that one is noticeably superior to the other. Do both just for the experience.

This is what I recall the major difference are.
AND the Nightmare before Christmas overall which is amazing!
Sadly, we will never see that at WDW.

1. Due to park space limitations, Pirates far better at DLR.
. . . more scenes
. . . longer ride (distance and time)
2. Haunted is about the same at DLR and WDW.

Really miss the entire firefly scene at Disneyland and the restaurant.
HM its a toss-up of walk or ride through the changing gallery and the stretching room, elevator vs ceiling going up. Both are good.

...that's because it has the "Nightmare Before Christmas" overlay, whereas WDW's version doesn't. Also, the trick of the 'turning busts' is painfully obvious at DL, since you walk directly past it, as opposed to riding in a 'Doom buggy' at WDW. Other than the style of the mansions, I'd say they are pretty much the same. PoTC at DL, however, is definitely better than the WDW one though. SM is also a better version at DL.

That is such an amazing overlay. Sadly, we'll never see it at WDW. I read somewhere that the majority of visitors at DL are local and WDW are not. So shutting down an attraction at DL for an overlay (IASM and HM) is not as big of a deal as shutting down an attraction at WDW when you have people that are there only every few years at the most.

...point well taken.
