Does reading the DIS message boards (other than the Community Board, of course :) ) get you down? For example, while the DIS has provided me with endless information about things I never would have known about otherwise, like discount resort codes, AP rates, and Illuminations cruises, it has also turned me into a "view" snob, caused me to look for things going "downhill" in the parks, and made me second guess whether or not it was financially sound to buy into the DVC! When I'm not on these boards, I'm loving WDW, DVC, and my Florida vacations in general. Sometimes reading these threads on the DVC board in particular, I'm obsessed with getting my "money's worth" and getting the most perfectly, fabulous, never better located room in a resort...you know, the unobstructed fireworks view-next to the elevator-right across from the ice machine-in the building next to the bus stop-right across from the pool-with the never ending supply of towel animals. And anything LESS and the trip is going to be RUINED!

Anyone else notice this?

It just makes me want to do to WDW more often! :D

I get real down when I see people planning great trip to WDW and other places and I can't afford to go there.

My view on my last stay was of the bus stop at my resort, so I don't think I paid any attention to the view threads.;) I did request a room with the heavenly beds though after reading reports on those beds here.:teeth:

Those heavenly beds are FABULOUS!

The only thing that gets me down is my counter.
Other than that, I don't let all the other things bother me too much. As far as the parks, the things I noticed on my last trip, I would have noticed anyway so I can't blame the boards.

I won't say that the boards bring me down, b/c I'm on here every day and absolutely love this place. However, I will say that I wonder if my first ever trip to WDW was a tiny, itsy bitsy bit of a disappointment b/c I had built it up to me some perfect nirvana in my mind.

I had always wanted to go to Disney and when I found these boards while planning my first trip back in Oct. 02, it was a Godsend. However, after reading post after post of people having such perfect, wonderful, never better, no problems at all trips, I started picturing what our trip would be like. And although we had a great time, we did have our down times (with four boys, ages 20 months-7, imagine that ;))

We are going on our first DCL trip Oct. 05 and I am trying to be more realistic about what to expect. I am trying to use this board as a source of tips and info, but after reading some people's trip reports, it's getting harder not to imagine DCL as some floating garden of Eden, lol. (Especially, with the free kids' clubs:) )

Overall, these boards are one of my favorite places to be!

What's a "heavenly bed"?

The beds at the Swan/Dolphin are heavenly beds. It is a wonderful mattress with terriffic down pillows and nice sheets/comforters. Very luxurious beds, IMO!

Actually, they are only the beds at the Swan, which is a Westin resort. The beds at the Dolphin, which is a Sheraton resort, are the Sweet Sleeper beds--which are also very nice! :)

If anything, these damn boards make me want to go MORE.;) Disney should give the DIS a cut of the action.;)

The DIS doesn't get me down at all. When it comes to trip planning I read the advice of others (and give my advice) but I always make my own decisions. I know what is right for me and my DH and that's what I go with. If someone says the parks are going downhill I wait and see for myself (and really haven't seen it). If someone talks about how terrible the cruise was I think back on how wonderful ours have been and just smile. If someone talks about what is the right and wrong ways of using DVC points - I just smile and know that the way I use them is right for me.

I only need to keep DH and I happy. The DIS is great for advice but I don't take any of it as gospel.

The boards don't get me down, but they do end up costing us a lot of $$$$! :) We go more now than we ever did...we try things we never knew about...stuff like that.

The only things that really get me down on the CB is when I read about sad things other people are going thorugh. :(

These boards are fun to be around. They never get me down:earsboy:

The boards don't get me down, but I do find that if I'm having a tough or depressing day when I come and check things out that reading of others heading back down to WDW makes me a bit sad since I can't go back right now too.:(

Otherwise I love this board!!::yes::

The boards themselves don't get me down but certain people here do sometimes.

Oh my gosh Julie_yet. I was going to say the same thing. I had a horrible encounter with a man on the boards. Why can't this be all friendly like it used to be? If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. Right??

But.....I didn't let it stop me. I need my dis fix daily!!
