Does the 40% off apply?

We are thinking about staying at BLT the end of Jan 2011, and we wanted a 2 bedroom villa. Does the 40% off apply? I saw fine print somewhere that said it excluded "suites", but I didn't know if that was the technical term for the 2 bedroom. Thanks!

check your dates online on the WDW site. I just checked and the last week is coming up with the discount

That would be a villa, not a suite.

I called on Friday to apply the 40% discount to our BLT 2BR villa reservation for January 2011, and Disney said that the discount for that room type for my dates had already been booked up. How convenient. Apparently, there are only a handful of each type of room available to use with the discounts.

Needless to say, I was really disappointed, as that discount on the 2BR villa could have really saved a lot of money. They did make the $500 gift card option available once I agreed to buy our park tickets and make our stay a package.

Has anyone else been denied the discount as well? Any suggestions on how to still get the discount on the villa? I'm thinking of calling back a couple more times to see if anything has changed.

Although it seems like it, you were not actually denied a discount. There were no rooms left for the particular discount you were looking for. As the CM stated, only a certain number of rooms at each resort are set aside for the discount. Jan is only 5 months away so I would not be surprised at all if there were no rooms left with the 40% discount. I have switched resorts before in order to get a discount when my first choice had no more rooms available for the discount. That is also normal that the gift card needed to be part of a package (room/tickets). While you could call back to see if anything has changed, a room will only become available if someone has cancelled their villa which was part of the discounted rooms. Could you stay in another villa at a different resort?

ALthough we already had a 40% pin, we couldn't apply the 45 % AP discount for our Feb 2010 res. Never avail. You might want to play around with the dates online and see. I did check the last week of Jan yesterday and the dates were avail (act. last 7 days) sometimes if you add or subtract a day the range becomes avail as well No rhyme or reason why that happens. I would check daily online, make the res. online if it comes up and then cancel the other. Just what I would do. In fact we did so just 2 weeks ago. We had a bounceback for Nov 28 for a week. The 27th wasn't included in bounceback. When the AP rates including the 27 became avail, I booked online due to having 2 reservations (my daughter is the other) and we wanted to make sure both of us were able to get the 27th. Then we called to cancel the other res.

Thanks so much for the replies. I'm amazed at how helpful the Disney veterans on this message board are. This can be complicated stuff!

So if I understand the AP discount right, I could just buy an annual pass and pay a lot more for the pass, but potentially get access to 45% of the room rate for a villa (based on availability)? And I would only need to buy one annual pass to get access to that discount? That would be fantastic and would save us a lot of money overall.

Yes, you might get the discount. I wouldn't buy an AP just for that. I would buy it based on number of days to be spent in the parks. There are so many room discounts without an AP. The difference in the percentage amount is not much esp. lately and the AP discounts have been the last to be put out. Currently the GP room only goes through mid Feb 2011, the AP discount only through Dec 25. If you do find an AP rate that's worth it, you can book at the AP rate and purchase the AP upon arrival. One AP per room discount all don't need the AP to get the discount.

jandkmom-I used a 40% on my 1 br villa, the challange is grabbing one.
disneydad88 - getting a discount can become a full time occupation, for some it is like the quest for the holy grail:worship: nothing quite so bad as when there aren't public discounts for your dates but other posters are getting pin codes w/ awesome discounts! If you are flexible on resorts/dates there is no reason to pay rack rate on disney vacations @ present. I had 2 villa resorts I was interested in when I booked - only one was available, so that made my decision easier. There are people waiting for discounts to be announced and the minute they are they book them - popular choices seem to get swooped up fast. Rather ironically, by having a room booked you may be decreasing the number of rooms allocated to a particular discount. I believe disney determines how many rooms to discount in part based on how bookings are going. The villas are tough because most of them are reserved for DVC members, as well. Good luck in your quest to save money, you'll find a lot of great tips here @ dis.

So I spoke with my TA, and she found no 2 BD villas available at BLT for any of the dates I had available with the discount. I didn't know it would be this tough, since I had no problem booking Poly last year with a pin. My other option is doing the same thing at BLT with free dining, and they do have it available. It seems to save me more money in the long run, since the alternative is booking 2 regular or club rooms at the Poly with the discount and no free dining (which is more money and less space).

Oh, the complications of ressies! I haven't even tackled ADRs yet...:sad2:

BLT is still new, and popular, so I'm not surprised that they are sold out of discounted 2 BR villas there. Maybe another villa is available - do check around with dates.

I booked a 1br villa at Beach Club with the 40% off - even going over Christmas - although haven't gotten the okay from DH yet. I'd rather book it and see in a couple of weeks if we can go. If you find the room you want, get it booked. I've made that mistake in the past, found a BC villa available, next day it was gone so went with the BW regular room (which was nice, though).

For our dates, I didn't see many 2br villas anywhere - so if you find one, book it! Good luck!

As you can see from my ticker, I booked our trip! We went with the 2bd villa at BLT with free dining. With 6people in our party, we will save a lot of money on food!:cool2:

Can't wait to see the BLT...it wasn't opened yet when we were there last.

You could consider booking a one bedroom villa plus a studio at BLT. You can use your PIN to book more than one room.
