Does the 37.99 for the DDP include tax?

I have read a lot of analysis on this board about amounts saved (or not saved) on the DDP. I have seen posts that say something like, "I would have spent X dollars OOP, and when you add the tax, that means I would have paid Y OOP. That means that I saved Z off the 37.99 I paid on the plan."

Don't you pay tax on the $37.99 cost for the DDP, and if so, don't you have to take that into account whenever you calculate whether you are saving money? :confused3

Tax is included on both ends - the $37.99/$69.99/$9.99/$19.99 prices include the tax, and the dining credits you use 'pay' for your food and the tax.

So that makes it even a better deal. The effective price of the DDP, not including the 6% sales tax, is then 35.84.

Comparing apples to apples, once you "purchase" menu items totalling more than 35.88 before tax in one day, you're in the black.

i just asked a CM about it when I booked the CP this morning....she says the 37.99 does *not* include tax. That you pay tax on top of that when you pay for the package. But the tax *is* included when you dine.

the state had to get its cut somewhere, I guess.

Hmm . . .
Since I originally posted, I reviewed the FAQ Sticky and found this:

How much does the plan cost?
The price for the DDP is per night of stay. The DDP price includes tax but DOES NOT INCLUDE gratuity. The Dining Plan must be purchased for everyone registered on the reservation.
• $37.99 per guest 10 years old and over and
• $9.99 for children 3-9 years old.

Anybody out there know what the real story is?

Okay, for anyone that's interested, I'm going to answer my own question.

I just went to the WDW website to get a quote for a one day vacation without the dining plan. The cost was 686.49. I then edited my choice and added the DlxDP. The cost was 756.86. The difference is 69.99.

So, evidently, tax IS INCLUDED in the DDP prices.

So, to summarize, tax is included, no gratuity. The deluxe plan is the same?
