Does the 2fer promotion attract less desirable guests?

The 2fer has been in effect since January 7th, so when you went on that ultra busy Sunday a couple weeks ago, you didn't experience any incidents even though there must have been a lot of people with 2fer tickets there. That tells me it was a coincidence that you experienced such a major incident during the final day of the 2fer.

It's not a good idea to base your decisions on coincidences, although it is a good idea to avoid exceptionally busy days.

There's a BIG difference between a random day in February where it is ultra crowded (where I blame the crowds mostly on S. Cal AP holders because two prior weekends were rained out and the following weekend was blocked out) and the final day the two-fer is offered at DCA. The majority of people who purchase two-fers use the DL day first, saving the DCA day for some other day in the future, and unfortunately DCA sees an enormous amount of those guests on their last two-fer weekend. So no, I don't really think it was all coincidence. But once again, this is just my experience, which is what I believe you were asking for in your first post?:confused3

I haven't read the whole post yet but I want to comment anyway.

What's wrong with "low-income" people going to disneyland? I think it's great that people who normally wouldn't be able to come to Disneyland are getting a chance to go at a cheaper price. But how can you really tell who is "low income" anyway???

Personally, I think the people that may not normally get to go to disneyland would be more appreciative of the place. Maybe more respectful even.

The people I consider the true "riff raff" are the people with mega bucks that think they are entitled to everything. Ugh. They are the worst. "I can do whatever I want. I have money." BLAH.

Theres obnoxious "low income" people and families and obnoxious "high income" families. Obnoxious people from all walks of life. Unfortunately whether its because its the way they were raised or they just think its ok to act like that...

either way, they all can stay away from my Disneyland. I go there to have a good time with my family and escape the "world" for a bit I guess. I dont go there to deal with peoples 'tudes. :badpc: ::cop:

Here's one such example I saw on another forum.

Basically a Disneyland/DCA regular was in DCA when they spotted a family eating an entire KFC meal at a table near Taste Pilots I believe.

They decided to take a covert picture of them, complete strangers, and post it on the Internet. You can see their faces and everything. That's the first thing I objected to.

Second, the replies were basically "GHETTO!" and "The 2fer is back!" and the like. Then there was a big argument about class or whatever.

The way I see it, it was an individual breaking the rules and Disney's failure to enforce the rules. Does it have anything to do with the 2fer? Does it have anything to do with class? I've seen this sort of thing in the Summertime, so the idea that the 2fer increases this behavior doesn't really make sense to me.

To the OP: kind of a crazy post. I think you need to be more cautious in your choice of words, even if you are of the opposite opinion. Classifying anyone as "riff-raff" is just horrible in my opinion. No one is worthy to be called that. We are all humans, some just are holding better cards than others. But it's what they've been dealt.

Anyways, I am an AP and have never noticed anything of what you're talking about.

While I agree the "Riff Raff" that floods the park during the slow months possibly because of the 2fer deal can be a bit annoying if you're on the level I don't really have a problem with them being there even if they bust out a bucket of KFC.

I know most Orange County AP holders and out of town guests would prefer they just stick to Knott's and Six Flags but the fact of the matter is that a lot of people cannot afford to do a large trip to the park and this is their chance to give their kids a great experience. People are going to be cheap and Disneyland staff tend to look the other way. This is partly due to the fact that many of the employees probably used to be among these masses.

If you want to avoid the "locals" I recommend Disney World. You'll pay more money but the cross section of guests is more palatable for picky people. Disney World is pretty much all tourists and nobody takes the park for granted. They're all there to have a good time and save for the occasional whack job it's a pretty clean crowd.

If you don't like Hispanics, African Americans, or White Trash, I'd recommend skipping Disneyland during the early Spring. It's not a time for well to do white people who don't like to "mix it up."

wait...what's wrong with KFC? I love KFC!!! does that make me low income? i'm confused. i don't bring kfc with me into the park (i didn't think they allowed you to bring that stuff in??) but what does it matter if someone snuck it in with them? how is that really any different than bringing my own water bottle and snacks in to save some money?

i guess to some i'm probably "low income" and riff raff. :rotfl2:

I am a social worker and when I read the first post........all I can do is say WOW!!!!!!!!!! Anxious to see what other people have to say and see if I need to get on my soap box.

I think overall maybe a better choice of words by the OP would have saved some of the comments?

Wow. I have nothing to offer in the way of experience... but I do want to comment on "low income families".

I have worked in social services and have found families who have lower incomes to be kind, polite and quite grateful for what they have. During my college days, my hubby and I were "low income"... we were both educated, kind and polite.

I have met "high income" folks who are rude, and "low income" folks who are rude... money had nothing to do with it.

These people who are judging guests in DL, how did they know they were "low income"??? Did they ask to see their most recent check stub?? Or did they just assume they were "low income" because of what they were wearing??

This thread makes me sad for humanity in general :sad1:

I used terms I have seen in other places.

On a popular roller coaster forum I saw a thread where the subject line was "Welcome to Tijuana, Disneyland!" and the only text was "What happened to this place?" It turned into a 20 plus page thread of people complaining about Mexicans at Disneyland and eventually became a tired debate about immigration. When I tried to point out the absurdity of the whole thing I was banned from the forum.

I mean, it just doesn't make any sense to me. So I'm wondering, when people go to Disneyland are they worried about certain groups of people ruining their fun? It never really occurred to me during the hundreds of times I have been to Disneyland to think about how much the other guests make or what color they are.

When I've seen bad behavior at Disneyland I always looked at it on a individual basis. Should I be looking at color? Should I be looking at class?

You're going to see bad behavior anywhere you go. Disneyland is no different. People's prejudices are amplified when they have to share space with different cultures.

I know where you're coming from but there is no good way to ask about this. It's best to avoid the topic altogether.

The 2fer doesn't bring out the worst in Southern California. They're already there in full force every day. They also have every right to be there. If they're obnoxious then they're obnoxious. Eat at the more expensive restaurants if you want to avoid them. I have yet to see somebody pull out a bucket of chicken at the Blue Bayou? I don't think so.

/just sayin'

If by less desirable guests you mean potential child abductors/ child molesters and folks out to commit crimes in the parks, then yes they are less desirable guests.

If you are talking about everyday ordinary folks of any walk of life or income or education level, where is the line drawn between desirable and less desirable?

Please define for me.

I think the OP has realized that they opened a large bag of "Do not want" and are quietly retreating from this thread.

I'm pretty sure they had class in mind when they started the topic. We call them closet elitests. I wouldn't say racist because they tend to frown on what they consider to be white trash as well. The fact of the matter is they don't like people who are from a lower income bracket or behave in a manner that some would associate with "the street."

You can hide your prejudices by saying you don't like them making a mess or what have you but I think I see more wealthy people leaving trays covered with garbage on tables.

This thread should really be shut down.

Just subscribing....only because I am too shocked for words at the moment.popcorn::

Since this thread is going nowhere fast, and really wasn't a truly appropriate subject to begin with, I'm going to close it.
