This has nothing whatsoever to do with lightening striking a person.

Health issues revolving around daily exposure to negative ions are quite different than lightning strikes.

Want a closer analogy. Smoking a cigarette isn't very harmful, but doing it over a length of time billions of people have died from it.

When lightning hits you, can it hurt you? Hopefully everyone has enough scientific knowlege to answer that.

Lightning can have both negative and positive polarity. Lightning with positive polarity is up to 10 times stronger then that with negative polarity.

300 kA of electricity flowing through your body is what hurts you... not negative ions.
