I thought this resort closed but I just saw a post and someone said they were staying there? Just curious.

It had closed for teh refurb and expansion, but it's reopened now and the reports are very positive!

WOW! I thought it had closed for good! Can anyone stay there? Do "military" still get discounts there?

It is for military personnel, retirees, DOD employess, etc. Go to Shadesofgreen.org for complete eligibility list.

They sell discounted tickets to disney and other attractions for the above groups. The web site currently lists the 2004 ticket prices. They have not announced prices yet for the MYW tickets. The disney ticket discounts in the past have been the best available in my opionion. If you fall into one of the eligle military groups, you can buy tickets at SOG even if you are not staying there (which is what we did our previous trips). It is my understanding that you cannot but the tix in advance -- only in person at the resort.

Thanks a bunch...this is not for me but someone had asked me about it!

Are the guards a bit leery of non-SOG guests? I know they're not Disney, they're full-fledged military.

I've wanted to try the burgers at Evergreen's (does it still exist?) since I heard they were perhaps the best on property, but I've never been sure just what to say to the guard at the gate. I'm not sure what the policy on "visitors" to the resort is.

I'm also interested in visiting to see what the new development looks like. I was a big fan of the old Disney Inn - first place I ever ate at WDW, a long time ago.

We are looking at doing a trip this year with our best friends who will be staying at SOG. Does anyone know if they are still able to book an extra room for us and if everything will also apply to us as guest there. We have stayed at several different resorts at WDW but know very little about this one.

I believe you can book up to two rooms for guests. We are staying there with friends in April and we booked two rooms. I would check out www.shadesofgreen.org for more information.
