other...santa doesn't fill dh and my stockings, but we do for each other. the kids think this is really funny. :)

Everyone in out house gets a filled stocking.

Yep! It is my favorite. I fill my husband's stocking and vice versa.

My mom still does a stocking for my sister and me at her house too. My sister and I even fills hers!

Yes, because there is no way I'm putting 3 bags of candy into 2 stockings. That is just way too much.

Besides, the kids don't share their candy with us. How else am I supposed to snag the Krackles and Mr. Goodbars? ;)

I have had one every year, this year I asked if I was getting one and was told no. I was soo upset, but one has magically appeared now.
Last year I didn't tell my mum that I'd done her one, set up a slideshow on the iPad of everybody in our family (including pets) holding a piece of paper with a word on, which made something along the lines of 'follow the clues to find your Christmas surprise' with an envelope next to it, she had to hunt around the house before finding her stocking. I put her favourite song on in the background and put some flowers next to it. Apart from I got really excited and when she woke up I shouted 'quick go in the kitchen and look at my iPad!' Lol.

I always make one for my husband, and Santa brings one for my son. Somehow, I never have one.

Only the kids get stockings in my family... but the kids are now 26 and 29 years old. :) (I'm the latter.)

Actually, two things just occurred to me:

A) My boyfriend will probably be joining us for gift-opening this year; I hope my mom doesn't feel any need to get him a stocking. I think I'll tell her that we can consider my stocking (and a lot of my presents) to be shared between me and him.

B) Maybe my sister and I SHOULD start doing stockings for our parents. I think it's too late to figure that out for this year, with so much else to do (including a special handmade gift for them from my sister and me). But maybe next year. I think I'd have to pretend to find them behind the tree or something.

Oh, and the stockings have little unwrapped gifts, mostly candy.

Other:

On most Christmases we grown ups hang up stockings, too, but Santa doesn't fill them. Mom and Dad fill each other's and then the grandparents' and the kids know this.

Stockings are a big deal in my family. Everyone, including pets, gets one.

Now, as for Santa, filling them: The way things were explained to me was first, that of course Santa fills all of them. But later, I received the explanation that Santa does not really bring presents for cats, so mom and dad have to fill Teeny's sticking so that she doesn't feel left out. Sometime after that it was explained that Santa doesn't bring gifts for adults either, but stockings are fun so mom and dad continue the tradition by filling for one another. From there its a very easy transition into the final stage, where the kid contributes a few cheap, silly gifts to be put into the parents' stockings, because everyone is old enough to acknowledge where the real spirit of Christmas lies.

Yup - me, hubby, 24 year old daughter and 22 year old son all get overflowing stockings.

Here's a side question: Are the stocking presents wrapped or unwrapped?

For some reason, from our first Christmas together that silly Santa always wrapped every single gift in each stocking, and as much as I love to give him a break and tell him the wrapping is not necessary, I just can't seem to do it. It takes me . . . uhm, I mean Santa forever to wrap all of the stuff!

That's my other poll...lol I made them one right after the other

My parents did not do stockings for each other.

However, at our house, yes, everyone gets a stocking!

Stockings are so fun to fill! I think DH even has fun finding things for my stocking!

Stocking gifts are never wrapped in our house, but they were in DH's when he was growing up. He didn't like it and I wasn't used to it so we don't.

My mom always had our stockings looking so nice with a small doll or stuffed animal peeking out and maybe a rolled up coloring book sticking up--I think this is what I loved the most. I used to love sneaking downstairs early Christmas morning and seeing the filled stockings hanging up and the piles of presents. It always looked beautiful and peaceful for a few minutes before I ran back up to wake up my sisters and then it was craziness.

Why, of course he does! Just because you grow older doesn't mean Santa stops loving you.

I have always filled stockings for my grandchildren. I used to fill stockings for our adult children too, but stopped that as it was just too hard to find things to fill them that they would like.

My college-age granddaughter asked me a couple of years ago if she was still going to get a stocking, so yes I've continued to fill one for her. :) For some reason the stockings are what the kids look forward to the most. I'm even filling a stocking for her boyfriend this year. They have been together almost a year and a half now, he came with her last year at Christmas and while I did buy him a gift I didn't fill a stocking for him but decided to include him this year and hopefully he will enjoy it. I asked her for ideas on what to fill it with, so that helped. :)
My teen will be in college next year and asked me if she'd still get Christmas jammies and a stocking. I said I'd do it forever if I could.:santa: Most likely I will do it until I have grandbabies to do it for.

To answer the question: DH and I have stockings but they do not get filled. We do not do gifts either. We pick ourselves out something nice at bonus time in Feb. Any little thing that would go in a stocking we've most likely already have or picked up. But I LOVE to collect little things my kids will like and use all year long in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Those suckers are STUFFED, it's my favorite part!

Nope, only kids get stockings. Though I'm trying to remember when I quit getting a stocking from my parents. DH & I don't have stockings.

This is us! Every couple of years we exchange but not regularly. Just depends on our mood... No "bonus time" for us but we have treated ourselves after The Home Show for the last 2 years (DH is an electrician).

Yes, DH & I have stockings, as well as our dogs. We fill each others stockings, (everything wrapped), and the dogs get a container of wet food, and 1 treat in each of their stockings. Plus, they get gifts under the tree too! We treat them like kiddos! :goodvibes

Stockings were my favorite part of Christmas growing up. I was raised in a step family and there were 6 kids. So my parents would wrap the stocking stuffers so it seemed like we had tons of gifts. Usually each of us would only have a couple gifts under the tree. So the stockings were the pot of gold for us!

Yes! Both my husband and I have stockings filled by each other.
And, until my mom died, she filled for me and my brothers..and my husband and sisters in law..and the grand kids.
(She always gave me an Easter basket too. :-D)
So I used to get 2.
Stockings have always been my favorite part! I'd rather give up the real gift than the stocking!
