Does RCI have getaways

So I have been noticing with many vacation club/time shares there is an option to book a getaway. These are last minute deals that you can pay for (really discounted prices) without using any of your points. Interval has this. Does RCI? Does the DVC have anything like this? I want to book a trip in October and all the DVC resorts are full. Is there a place with DVC to do a last minute getaway and pay cheap prices?

RCI offers discounted rentals to their direct members -- but the DVC-Corporate membership offered to DVC members does NOT include the rental options.

It also excludes other potential benefits of the direct RCI system as well.

Agreed! I sooooo wish DVC owners were offered discounted exchanges within the "last minute" windows! ;)
I've advocated for some time that it would be better for DVC members to be able to join RCI directly as with most timeshares or at least to get real access as in other large points systems. However, I do realize that there are pros and cons. Joining directly gives a lot of options and benefits but does potentially increase some costs. My view is it'd help those who want to trade routinely, hurt those who want to trade occasionally but be neutral for the rest who don't care about exchanging. One other point is there are a number of independent exchange companies that DVC members could use and would likely be better off doing so rather than RCI in many situations.

I believe not DVC but I know David's rents last minute but not exchanges.
I am on their e-mail list and I get e-mails with last minute vacation options using DVC (usually with SSR and OKW but sometimes other resorts too).

OP is not talking about DVC rentals. OP's question refers to RCI "Extra Vacations" and "Last Calls," which are discounted cash rentals at numerous RCI-affiliated timeshares worldwide.

As others have noted, those RCI benefits are available only to timeshare owners who have individual RCI accounts. DVC ownership does not include full RCI membership. The DVC version of RCI is sort of an "RCI Lite," offering a little less than 20% of the total RCI resorts and none of the other benefits of RCI.

Ditto what JimMIA said above ... and more info.

My reference to "discounted exchanges in the last minute" describes a powerful tool offered by RCI to certain other point system participants. It allows any exchanged booked w/in 45-days of travel to be booked using the exchange value of a "blue studio" regardless of the week confirmed.

Example using Worldmark, a points-based timeshare through RCI:
* If I'm booking a 3BR hoiiday week via RCI beyond 45-days of travel the exchange will require 12,000 WM "points" which is the equivalent of booking a 3BR Worldmark unit in "high" season.
* If I'm booking that same 3BR holiday week via RCI w/in 45-days of travel the exchange will only require 4,000 WM points which is the equivalent of booking a WM Studio unit in lowest season.

Make sense?
