Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

:hug:I'm glad your surprise made you happy and brought a big smile to your face! They are lovely pieces! Nice job MeMom!:goodvibes

Soooo.....

there is a story behind Jackie getting this package.

A sort of stressful one.

You wanna hear it?

It's called

MeMom Needs a Tattoo

Once upon a time,
October 16th,
I went to Zawadi, one of my very favorite resort gift shops, to buy Jackie's gift from DIStown. I had been at Animal Kingdom all day, and they had a lot of pieces to choose from, but I knew how near and dear to her heart that Animal Kingdom Lodge is, so I really wanted to get the pieces from there.

I chose the ones I liked best, taking her love of giraffes into consideration. I was able to get three nice pieces, and after having 'tricked' her into showing the pieces she already had ;), I knew she did not own any that were like these. I thought about getting a fourth piece, another dish somewhat like she has, but then I opted for the mother and baby giraffe wood carving instead as more of an accent piece whenever she puts her display together.

The cast member who checked me out was very nice, but new, and she did not know about shipping, so she called another cast member over to help.

While that cast member was getting it ready, I realized I had forgotten to bring Jackie's address. I called Jill to see if she could check my PM box to get it, but she didn't answer. I texted Anita, but she didn't have it, and all she could find was an address that she and I both knew was not the current one.

So, I texted Jackie to just get the address from her, figuring she would assume I was sending her a postcard, right? ::yes::

No answer back.

I explained to the Zawadi ladies about the address, and they said that was fine, just call back later with the address. :thumbsup2 I paid for the items and the shipping, filled out the ticket with my return address and Jackie's name and city. She gave me the number to call to give the address when I got it.

All was well.

In all the confusion, I forgot to take a picture to show the gang at the Magic Kingdom DIS meet that night.

I was not on my 'A game' that day.

Later that evening, I got the correct address from both Jackie and Anita.
The next morning, I called the number I was given to give them the address, but it was not the Zawadi shop, where I assumed they would hold the package. It was the general Disney Merchandising warehouse.

They could not find my package by name or tracking number. They said they would investigate and call me back.

All day - no call.

I called the next day and talked to someone else.

No record of it.

I got the direct line to Zawadi through Pop Century concierge. I talked to a team leader there who took all my information again, including the address that I now had that it was to be shipped to. She said she would check into it and call me back.

All day - no call.

I called again and talked to Wayne. He said he would do everything he could to find it, and he would reimburse shipping charges if the package happened to be in the process of being sent to my house - the only address they had at first. I told him if it was just a t-shirt or something I would just get them to pull another one off the rack, and that I would have them 're-do' the pieces if they couldn't find them, but that I really wanted the specific ones I had chosen, since they are all so unique. He was very nice and very understanding.

Wayne patched me through to someone at the warehouse again. Warehouse Lady assured me the package was there.

Somewhere.

But when you give a person a name and tracking number

and the next thing you hear is

---silence---

followed by

'Hmmmmm...'

that's a scary thing.

All of this could have been avoided if I had taken the silly address, right???

I was pretty aggravated at ME!!! :headache:

I left Disney property hoping someone somewhere would find my box and at least ship it to me, and then I would ship it to Jackie.

I talked to two more people in the next few days after returning home. I faxed my receipt to the last person, Saundra, and she said she was going to investigate. She was pretty sure it was still sitting at Zawadi.

I now reference you to the previous comment by Warehouse Lady, who assured me it was not at Zawadi. :goodvibes

Anyway....

I was really beginning to stress out, because I knew DIStown was waiting to hear from an excited Jackie that her gift had arrived,

and

I knew that Jackie was expecting a postcard! :upsidedow

I figured everyone in DIStown and Miss Jackie were all going to be thinking what a bum I was.

I messaged Anita and told her the situation, which I had kept to myself (and Jill) until then. I asked her if I should mention something on the boards to let everyone know what was going on. Jackie still wouldn't really know what was in the package, but everyone else would at least be informed of the status of things.

She said give it a couple more days.

She was the good luck charm, I guess,

because

it was a very short time later that same evening

that I got a text from Jackie

saying that she had gotten the best package

and loved it so much!

I was one very relieved DIStown citizen.

At the end of this long and stressful story,

there is a moral.

For me, it was

Always have Jackie's address written in ink on your arm before you go to Zawadi.

:)

They all sound great to me Jackie! Don't pressure yourself too much, if you end up getting the chance to go on ANY of those trips, I'm sure it would make you happy in the end! :thumbsup2

I agree, Jess. I will be happy with any of them, so I am just going to go with the flow right now.

A lot of great options Jackie! I don't think you could go wrong with any of them! :goodvibes

But I do think you need a dose of pixie dust in 2012! ;)

Disney World is definitely a front-runner this week. LOL!

I think all of your options sound delightful! :cloud9: Whichever way the wheel spins, I'm sure you will have a marvelous time!

I've been thinking more and more about the Alaska cruise as well, I think it would be a great way to see that part of the country.

2013 for DLR sounds like a good plan, I believe all the refurbishments/add ons at CA will be complete by then :thumbsup2

Thanks, Michelle. I never really thought about Alaska until Cynthia started her trip report about their cruise. It looks like so much fun onboard a Disney boat.

Love all the souvenirs from Tybee, that sand dollar ornament is probably my favorite.

That's an awesome list of options, but I'd definitely be leaning towards Disney World, too. You definitely need and definitely deserve a BIG dose of pixie dust in 2012!

Meghan, I really want a trip to the World this week! LOL!

Spin the wheel Jackie, spin the wheel!!!!!!!:lmao:

All your choices sound lovely. I do think a dose of Pixie is in order so you can feel the magic. :goodvibes

Good luck with decision making and we are all :surfweb: so we can :cool1: when the decision is made.

Even only choosing a vacation destination could be left to spinning a wheel. :goodvibes You know it might be awhile before I settle down on where we are going. LOL!

Jackie I LOVE all these ideas too!!!! LOL!!! I see what you mean!! BUT I agree with the DL trip being AFTER the Adventureland stuff gets all sorted out... finished I mean. I know we will be going back for that for certain, I can always get my DH to go to California. The Alaska trip YES, big expense, I agree.. I don't know if I could get DH to go for that, cruise in the cold, not his style, but I agree, it would be the best way to see that part of the country, and I think he is inclined to agree...

Cold is not really something I seek out on vacations -- well, it's not really something I seek out at any time, but the glamor of an Alaskan cruise is tempting. Only onboard a Disney boat, though. ;)

RE the DISNEY over the 4th, well, let me say I would love to see you there!!!! :) And maybe you can squeek in an extra day or two to see Anita??!! Or knowing you are going to be there might make her stay longer!!!! LOL!!!! DON'T be surprised....

Unfortunately, we are pretty locked into dates if we go in July because I will have classes on Mondays and Wednesdays -- since the Fourth is a Wednesday, we will have that one off. I would love to see fireworks at Disney and hang out!

A Disney cruise out of Florida would be heavenly, you would enjoy it without a doubt, I would encourage you to see about one in the fall (if you could) or winter -- if you have any little breaks there... And Connor is right, don't skip Disney again if you can avoid it!!! :goodvibes

I priced those February and October cruises -- very doable -- especially if we ditch the kids. LOL!

JWe could all do a round of Kim Possible and slushies together :)

You had me at slushies.

DECISIONS DECISIONS!!

Renting points... let me dig around for that contact I had this summer, really reliable.

Yes, please.

Jackie ~ You really can't go wrong with any of your choices! :goodvibes They are all so different and unique from one another, yet all fantastic in their own way! :thumbsup2 Go for it...spin the wheel! ;)

LOL! I do need to spin the wheel, but knowing me, I would spin it more than once.

All of those choices are wonderful Jackie.
We're planning on a late 2012/2013 trip to DLR as well.
DCL is so tempting. But I agree with Connor. I wouldn't want skip a year of Disney magic. And both of your WDW resort choices are just fanastic.

Planning on booking something soon? popcorn::

Probably making final decisions after Christmas. The holidays are always so busy, and then January is so boring -- it will be nice to have some vacation planning to do during it.

Can't wait to see where the wheel stops.

Let's hope it lands somewhere good. ;)

Man, those are a lot of choices! I don't envy you the decision that you will have to make.

It's a fun decision, though.

All of the choices are wonderful. Hurry and spin the wheel so the fun of planning can begin.:cloud9:

I need to get a new vacation binder for starters. :thumbsup2

Oh Jackie! Time to get that wheel spinning and I hope it lands on some much needed pixie dust!
HD and I were just scheming to get you down there during our trip this summer....:rolleyes1
As it stands now we are set to head back to Kansas on July 1st.
Baylor feels he MUST be home for the 4th of July festivities. Bah I say to that.

What? Why does Baylor feel the need to be home for the Fourth -- surely no place is as fun as Disney for celebrating a holiday. Tell him you have to stay longer there. ;)

Oh, fun!! So many options to choose from Jackie. I think I would do: 2012-Disney World, 2013-Disney Land and 2014-Alaska, if it's all doable. I hear you about the money supply. Trips are really neat to plan but they aren't so neat to pay for though. ;)

I like that set-up of trips! We need to win the lottery to fund our traveling.

Hmm, that's a really tough decision! I say you definitely need a dose of Disney magic :goodvibes Maybe yall could do a land/sea vacation? A few days at Sea and a few more at Disney World!

That would be super fun! The best of both worlds!

Ahhh, decisions, decisions!! Not easy at all! When I become a billionaire, I'll take all my DISfriends on several trips :thumbsup2

Sounds like a great plan to me!:thumbsup2

I'd you're taking opinions, my thought would be to do WDW this year at the end of May and then DLR next year. As much as we all love WDW, I think every kid (and adult) should see where it all started. I've never been and it's definitely on my Bucket List! I'm anxious to see where this journey of indecision takes you next year!! :goodvibes

Disneyland is great from what I remember of it. Of course, I haven't been there since I was about five so my memories are a little hazy.

Oh I hear ya honey!!

We are spending a pretty penny on Europe, but since we have DVC, we'll have points to use in 2012 at WDW (we are not using points at DLP - can't really). So we're hoping to go in October during school break. But we keep thinking maybe we want to do to DL too! It sounds like there's still some construction out there too. I guess we'll wait. We can book our WDW stay pretty early (11 months) with our points too.

The World in October will be great! :goodvibes You'll be able to book next month, too, which is nice!

I say see if you can do WDW in 2012 and Alaska in 2013. Maybe WDW will have to be a lower budget trip for you to be able to do both.
We are hoping to do Alaska in 2013 too for DH's 50th - maybe it will work out for both of us!!!
I know one thing - I will not be getting new carpet in my family room anytime soon. It looks horrible, doesn't match, and I don't care. I'd rather travel!!

I have a feeling that once I finish my specialist degree, a good chunk of that raise will be spent on traveling.

We should probably redo our floors, too, but I agree -- I would rather deal with them as they are and travel instead. If nothing else the past few months have taught me that life can be too short -- I would rather have the memories of fun trips than hardwood floors.

Well, I am just shocked! :rotfl:

:lmao:

Jackie, you live so close. I think a long weekend Disney trip is very doable in order to get your fix. Maybe that will clear your mind enough so that you can concentrate on whatever you want to do for your bigger adventure.

True, but once I am down there, I never want to leave. :goodvibes

Hi Jackie! I love your paint colors and your decorating! :thumbsup2

Thank you!

I don't think I've been here in a little while - I missed some things. Too bad Chelsea had to endure the educational time at the Fort. ;) I love history, so it would be fun for me. I feel so badly that so much history was destroyed in the South. When we went to Montgomery, I wanted to see some old plantation homes - only to be informed there were none. :sad2: I hope to visit Savannah some day.

It is always amazing to me how much devastation happened in certain parts of the South -- really there is very little pre-1860s in the Atlanta area. Charleston and Savannah escaped complete destruction, though, so there is tons of antebellum structures.

Too bad about Connor's crabs. Maybe that's why my neighbor kept getting new ones. I didn't really pay attention to whether they still had the old ones. :sad2:

It was a sad point in Connor's young life. :(

I'm looking forward to see what your next trips will be. Of course you might be out here at DL at the same time we head East to WDW!:lmao:

I am thinking DL in 2013, maybe.

Im late to the early planning party, but im in!

I def say Disneyland is a trip you should make!!!

Hi, Kat!!! It's great to see you here again!

I say that you should do Disney World this year and Disneyland next year. Poor Connor can't be denied Disney World two years in a row! :scared1: Plus he must need some new alien guys by now.

I agree! Chelsea got her way last summer, so I think we should let Connor have his way this year. ;)

Honestly though, all of those vacations sound wonderful and wherever you end up going will be perfect!

As long as it is a trip with some Disney touches, I will be happy.

Oh MeMom do I know that moral all to well! I think I have lost Jackie's address like 10 times LOL!! I finally have it saved in my phone, or at least saved in some text messages from Anita!!!

Glad it all worked out and we all know Jackie loves those pieces!!!!

So Jackie you going to send me that chili recipe you're making today?!?! I have been searching high and low for a good one and let's just say your recipes are always a big hit with PP!!

Jackie, you certainly have a lot of options. My DH would love to do the Alaska cruise, but no way will I do it. If I can't sit on the deck in my swimsuit, I ain't going! I'm not much for cold weather or ice!

Me neither, but I sure would love to bundle up in cute gloves and a scarf and drink hot chocolate on deck.

I would love to go back to WDW in 2012, but hubby doesn't want ot go back that soon. So no new ticker for me yet.

:( How long does he want to wait?

A big wheel is a good idea! Or put the choices in a hat and see what gets picked out!

That would work, too!

They all sound lovely and I'm sure you guys would have a blast no matter where you wind up! However, I know I am ready to make a trip out to the west coast and give Disneyland another go, so I vote for that!;). Or WDW this year and DLR next!

I am thinking WDW this year and DL next year. That might be the best configuration. I have to work on Charles awhile to convince him to go to DL, anyway. Everytime I bring it up, he says, "There's not as much to do there." Whatever! :lmao:

I love your souveniers! (I don't know how I missed that update- okay, yeah I do...somehow the first two weeks of October skipped me...I don't know where they went...Heck, I can't believe Halloween is around the corner!

I am with you -- this month has flown by!

Instead of a wheel, which would be time consuming and possibly cost prohibitive, you could just roll a die. 1- alaska, 2- WDW, 3-Disneyland...:rotfl2:

:lmao: Yes, the wheel might be costly -- although I could refurb a Life game wheel. LOL!

I do look forward to the "Adventures of Jackie's decision making..."

=) Debby

Adventures or Constant Waffling? LOL!

PS - How do you mult-quote one person's post? I know how to quote multiple people in a reply, but I don't know how to break apart one person's responses...

I just break it up and put the two quote things around each piece I want to quote. Does that even make sense? :confused3

Oh my Jackie, those ARE some tough choices!!

Could you do a combo land & sea with DW & the cruise? This was back in '08, but that June we did 4 days at the parks & turns 3 day cruise, and I want to say the points for the DVC room + the cruise was about $800 per person. Is that doable?

Can't wait to hear what you decide!!

That's not bad at all -- I will have to look into it!

Jackie, those are some tough decisions! I think cruising Alaska would be wonderful. It is on my vacation bucket list. Not going to happen for a while though.

We had originally planned to go to DL in 2012 summer as I have a conference in San Francisco. Not sure if we will or not. I really want to go once everything is complete.

Oh, what will you do!!

Oh, while you are in Frisco, you need to go to that new Walt Disney Museum! I bet they have a fabulous gift shop!

I think any decision will be wonderful :goodvibes...but like Amy said your family really needs a bit of pixiedust, even just a small trip to DL or WDW could do the trick :goodvibes

have fun making the decision and go for it!

I do find myself leaning towards a World trip this summer. I need to smell some Disney air!

Yep, that was me, Amy! LOL!

It makes me teary eyed just seeing the smile on your face.

Enjoy-

Thank you, Pat!!! :goodvibes I smiled all night and yesterday and today...

:banana::cool1::banana::cool1::banana::cool1: :banana: :cool1:

YAYAYAYAY!! They are just so "you"!!!!!!!!!! Glad you loved them!!!!!

Thank you, Jen! I was so overwhelmed by them (in a good way)!

Thank you, Elaine!

Jackie, so happy so see that smile on your face!

Thank you, Anita! It was a pretty big grin! LOL!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your surprise!!! :goodvibes

I did! I did! I am going to have a great time finding just the right place for them.

I would be happy to hug you too!
So glad you like your surprise!!

Liked is not quite strong enough -- adored, loved...even those don't quite come close enough.

All your DIS friends do care about you! :grouphug:

So glad you enjoyed your surprise!

It's lovely to see you smile!

Memom did a wonderful job picking out the pieces...they will look great in your home.

Enjoy! :goodvibes

About the vacation dilemma...you have some very hard decisions to make.
They all sound great!
My vote would be for a dose of Disney Magic no matter where.
But I am very biased!

Thank you! I had happy tears as I unwrapped each piece.

Disney magic is a must, I think!

I'll be making a call to WDW Merchandising today to let my nice friend Saundra know they arrived safely. :cool1:

The pieces look very good on you, Miss Jackie! :goodvibes

Why, thank you, MeMom! They are all so beautiful!

I am so glad you love them!! You deserve it!!
MeMom did such a great job picking out the pieces.
It makes me tear up seeing how happy you are.
I was grinning from ear to ear just seeing your face this morning on FB.

MeMom did a sensational job -- it's almost like she knew exactly what I would like! :rotfl: I think I fell asleep that night still grinning.

FYI: I am going to be at WDW the last of May, first of June. I would love to see you there.;)
You do need a dose of Disney magic.

That would be so fun to meet up!

Love seeing the smile light up your face, Jackie! :goodvibes

Nice job choosing the pieces, MeMom! :thumbsup2

Thank you, Lynne!

Yes MeMom you did a fantastic job picking them out. :thumbsup2
I am sure Saundra was worried about them too.

They are even more beautiful in person!!!

so glad you liked your surprise!!!
Thanks to MeMom for organizing it!

Thank you! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Glad you liked your surprise!! Memom picked out some nice things!!

Yes, MeMom has great taste! :goodvibes

Yay!!! They arrived! You deserve them Jackie. :goodvibes

Thank you, Kelli!

Catching up after our trip! I love all of your vacation ideas!! They all seem fabulous! I also love the idea of the vacation wheel!

Actually, I’d love to be able to spin a global, close my eyes and put my finger on it, then go to wherever it lands!

::yes:: Well, actually, if it landed in Outer Mongolia or Siberia, I think I would have to spin it again. LOL!

Love, love, love your gifts!!! So beautiful and thoughtful!!!!

Thank you!

:hug:I'm glad your surprise made you happy and brought a big smile to your face! They are lovely pieces! Nice job MeMom!:goodvibes

Very happy!!! :goodvibes

there is a moral.

For me, it was

Always have Jackie's address written in ink on your arm before you go to Zawadi.

:)

I am still stunned by this story! I can't believe what an ordeal it all was -- which makes me all the more appreciative of it all! A million thank yous, MeMom!

You're right about how I feel about Zawadi! :lovestruc

Funny that you mentioned how you tricked me into showing my pieces -- I was actually telling Charles about that Wednesday night -- how I was totally unsuspecting when you asked me to post them. LOL! Well played, MeMom!

Here's the funny thing about all of this -- the package actually arrived at my mother-in-law's house. When we went in 2004 (which was what like seven years ago and eight trips ago?), Nancy made all the reservations and such using her address. Well, apparently that is the address in the Disney merchandising computer for me because it showed up there. All's well that ends well, though.

Thank you again, MeMom!

Oh MeMom!! All that stress you had to deal with! I am so glad everything worked out. :goodvibes

I'm glad, too! :goodvibes:laughing:

Oh MeMom do I know that moral all to well! I think I have lost Jackie's address like 10 times LOL!! I finally have it saved in my phone, or at least saved in some text messages from Anita!!!

Glad it all worked out and we all know Jackie loves those pieces!!!!

Y'all are too funny about my address!

So Jackie you going to send me that chili recipe you're making today?!?! I have been searching high and low for a good one and let's just say your recipes are always a big hit with PP!!

Here it is:

Pioneer Woman's Chili

Love this even when we don't serve it with fritos -- tonight we are having it with cornbread.

Wow, what an ordeal with the package, but I'm glad it found it's way home and you liked what was inside! :goodvibes

Here's the funny thing about all of this -- the package actually arrived at my mother-in-law's house. Well, apparently that is the address in the Disney merchandising computer for me because it showed up there. All's well that ends well, though.

:faint:

I wonder if that is the address that Anita came up with.

As long as it got there, I'm good with however it did it.

Not really.
I would rather it have been a lot easier. ;)

I missed all the drama about the package, but I'm so glad it wound up where it was supposed to be!

Good job on chosing the pieces Memom! I'm so glad you liked them Jackie!

That is some story.

I wonder what the whole story from Disney Merchandising??? The box may or may not have made the rounds. It did probably stay put at Zawadi and mmaybe some detective CM did some work to come up witht that address. :confused3

I think I have Jackie's address somewhere too.

Not sure if it new, old or even right.

So glad Disney Pixie dust worked. :wizard:

Oh my word!! MeMom, I bet you were really panicking! Things happen though, don't worry about it. I'm so happy the package found its way home to Jackie however. :goodvibes

The story behind the package makes it even more special. They could make a Disney movie out of the adventures of the missing package, with a pixie dust ending.:goodvibes

Oh Jackie, those sure are wonderful gifts. I s.aw them on FB, but since it was on my phone I couldn't see them very well. How nice of the Dis friends to send them to you!:grouphug:

My DH would be happy to never go back to WDW. I make him go, he does have a good time, but would rather do Vegas! Not high on my list of favorite places to go.:headache:

I am now curious about the address for MIL....
I'll just bet it was the first one that I came with from my online search.

That Chili recipe looks delicious! Do you get many ideas from that website? I love all the pictures!!!

Thank you for the Chili recipe it looks simply delish!! Going to buy supplies and give it a go this week!!!!

Oh Memom--what an adventure...were you thinking the whole time "no good deed goes unpunished?" I am so glad it all worked out in the end.
