Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

More hugs coming your way... :grouphug:

Thank you, Amy.

Jackie,

I just read about your mom on Memom's report. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Erika

Thank you, Erika. I truly appreciate it. :goodvibes

Jackie, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mother's passing.
I didn't know she was sick.
Be strong my friend. Remember we all luv you.
I will pray for you and your family to find some comfort in her memories.

Take Care, Lana

Thank you, Lana. My mom wasn't really sick. It all happened very unexpectedly and very suddenly.

You know I have been thinking of you, and thinking I wish I could help somehow. You are such a positive person, and I hate to think about your sadness. I have big hugs for you.

Thank you for the thoughts and big hugs, HD. I feel like I am running on automatic these days. I do try to be a positive person, and I don't even feel like myself lately. It's all so surreal.

I have been thinking about you guys, Jackie, and wishing we were closer...or lived in DIS town together  Take care and know that I am thinking of you guys every day.

Thank you so much! I wish we were closer, too.

I'm taking over for the DIStown mail carrier today. (Have we picked one of those yet? ;))

Anyway, just stopping by

who care so much about you and your family.

Hope you are going to be able to have some relaxing time this three day weekend.

Hi, MeMom! I think you would make a great DIS town mail carrier. :goodvibes We have been pretty low key this weekend. I packed up all the summer stuff yesterday (I can't help but think that if I never see another August again, it will be too soon) and started pulling out the fall stuff. It's raining here for the first time in weeks and weeks and weeks, and I think I might try to update my PTR -- must finish the Tybee trip at some point. We'll see if I manage that, though.

Jackie - I am so sorry your August was so terrible and I really hope that this fall is so much better for you and your family. I'm sure losing your mom was such a shock and it still must be so hard.

I do hope you start back on your PTR. As the days get colder and shorter it will certainly be good to see some pictures of Tybee again!

Jackie-
I had no idea. Please know that the Percy family has you in our prayers. I feel like we knew your mom. God bless.

Hi Jackie. I was on vacation and missed your horrible news. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope your wonderful memories can give you a little comfort in the times to come. I'm saying prayers for you and your family.

Oh Jackie, I just saw this and am so sorry for your loss, my heart breaks for you and your family. You are in my prayers and thoughts :grouphug:

Thank you, Mary Ellen. It is so hard to even wake up in the morning and realize my mom is not just a phone call away.

Just felt like coming over to give you a hug this morning...

Thank you, Jen. I have been meaning to text you back since you texted me like a week ago.

Okay, I am finally updating in the hopes that I can finish the Tybee Island trip soon and write about other things. Before heading back to the idyllic days of summer, though, I do want to thank everyone for all their thoughts and prayers for my family and me after my mother passed away unexpectedly. We truly appreciate it. I thought I would be able to write more about what happened, but as I began to type, I realized I just can’t yet, but please know I am touched by all the love and support.

In regards to Tybee, I believe I left off as we were about to take our sunset dolphin cruise on Wednesday. When I had originally began making plans for the trip (what few plans I did make), I had scheduled the dolphin cruise for Wednesday morning. The week before we left, a good friend of mine had gone with her family to Tybee -- she texted me the night they took the sunset cruise and insisted I switch mine. I listened to her.

So, Wednesday evening off we went to the marina for Captain Mike’s Dolphin Adventure.

It was the same marina as the one we went to for jet skis the day before.

Once onboard we waited patiently to embark on our trip. I amused myself with taking pictures.

Well, some waited more patiently than others. Soon after this picture was taken, Chelsea and Connor had to be separated because they amusing themselves with roughhousing. I had horrible images of one of them going overboard, and I did not want us to end up being THAT family.

Out on the water, the captain had no trouble finding a family of dolphins to follow. I, on the other hand, seemed to have trouble capturing them on film.

There are a lot of these shots where Charles would point and say, “Look! Right there!” Only the picture shows nothing more than a blue expanse of still water.

The dolphins were so neat -- surfacing and playing and racing each other and the boat. The tour guide told us so many interesting facts about dolphins -- I wish I had written them down because, of course, now I don’t remember them.

Here are the only two pictures that actually have dolphins in them.

While we spent a lot of time watching dolphins frolic, our captain also wanted to make sure we had a prime spot for the sunset, so he headed in that direction.

Connor made me take this picture because he was hoping he could read the signs afterwards.

Big beach houses that would be lovely to live in. Actually, I don’t even need anything that big -- I would be happy in a shack on the beach.

The small piece of land this lighthouse sits on gets completely covered during high tide.

A gorgeous Tybee Island sunset.

On the way back into the marina, we passed by shrimp boats. I have such a thing for these boats that I took a ton of photos. Here are just a few of them.

Maybe one day Charles will become a shrimper, and he can name his boat the Jackie Anne.

After the cruise it was time for dinner, so we headed to Café Loco where you can eat the shrimp caught on those shrimp boats.

2011-06-04144.jpg

This was Connor’s FAVORITE place to eat on the island.

Why you ask?

Certainly not for the seafood selection.

Because they have turtle races on Wednesday nights.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Turtle races.

We had never heard of them, either, before entering through the doorway of Café Loco.

Apparently people tend to buy turtles as pets and then realize they don’t really want said turtles. Café Loco operates as a turtle rescue place and takes in the turtles. I guess the turtles have to earn their keep by participating in turtle races.

Don’t be too alarmed though. The turtles aren’t forced to do anything that would be harmful to them, and they were very adamant that we were not to stomp on the floor or anything to stress the turtles out.

It works like this. For every drink you buy, you get a raffle ticket. Prior to the start of a race, the announcer pulls out raffle tickets. If your raffle ticket gets drawn, you choose one of the turtles. Your turtle is then placed in the circle. The first turtle to reach the edge of the astro turf is the winner, but there is also a prize (a t-shirt or something) for the last turtle left.

Oh. My. Goodness. We have rarely laughed as hard as we did over these “races.” Some turtles book it over to the edge as fast as they can, and some take all the time in the world. Some never move at all.

Connor was beside himself and desperately wanted one of our tickets to be pulled. Luckily one was, and he was able to choose a turtle to participate. Sadly, it didn’t win, but Connor couldn't have cared less. He just wanted to be a part of the races. LOL!

With our bellies full of assorted shrimp (Connor had ordered chicken fingers) and having managed to participate in a turtle race, we made our way back to the cottage for the night.

Joining in (a bit late, I know!)

First I just want to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I am sending lots of good thoughts to you and your family.

You certainly found the cutest little beach cottage that could have ever been imagined! Everything about it is adorable. Can't wait to hear more about your trip :goodvibes

Hi Jackie! It is so nice to see you back.

What a gorgeous sunset. I am very glad you switched and bet you were too! Turtle races...who'd have thunk it. :confused3. Sounds like a really cute kitchy idea though!

You are making quite a case for a trip to Tybee!!! ::yes::

I was thinking of you this week when House Hunters had an episode set on Tybee Island, what a gorgeous place! I really want to go someday.

Turtle Races? !!! I want to see a turtle race, I am so excited that Connor got to be a part of the race. How much fun!

Those lighthouse pictures with the sun setting are gorgeous!

Too funny about the turtle races, I bet that was a sight to see

I know we've talked already, but I just wanted to say, I think of you every day.

I loved this chapter. I am :lmao: over the turtle races. The dolphin excursion looks amazing. For some reason I can't see a shrimp boat without running Forrest Gump lines in my head. ;)

Hmmmm...your dolphin photos look quite a bit like my whale watch pictures. :upsidedow I swear I saw some, you just can't tell by my pictures! We did see some dolphins there, too, on the way out to the whales' feeding grounds, but I wasn't quick enough to get them coming out of the water.

I think I said this on Facebook but the sunset pictures seriously look like they could be posters!

Love, love, love the turtle races! :rotfl:

Jackie, I have been thinking of you! I hope your days are filled with much love!! I for one can't believe how fast the school year is going!!!

What gorgeous pictures of Tybee especially at Sunset, just stunning!!!!

Turtle races :lmao: that sounds like too much fun! Glad Connor was able to participate and have a good time!

Turtle races! How funny. I've heard of them before, but I always thought that it was a joke of some sort.

When I saw the picture of the shrimping boats, all I could think about was "Jenny"!

We took a whale watching cruise in San Diego, and if you think that dolphins are hard to capture on, whales are even harder. I remember thinking as a kid "okay, where are the whales"? I think that dolphin cruise would be so cool.

Jackie,

I was away the last two weeks of August and have just got around to reading again...

 I am profoundly sorry for your loss and have you and your family in my thoughts and prayers...

Patricia
